    Incompatibility is such a hard pill to swallow. We all want everyone to love us and letting that need go can feel like giving up on our own worthiness. If we can accept Incompatibility we also recognise who and what we are and thus prioritise our authenticity, the ultimate validation of inherent worth. Hard work but we can do it 🥰

    Im walking through such experience for the last months where i slowly come to the understanding that if i truely want the best for both of us then the daily stress of trying keep us togheter in a partnership is a huge burden in life on both of us.. And in my case to really love on another means to make decissions in our own and the others best interest..even if that means to give them space and sharing that love in another way then a partnership, rather in friendship without the consequence of constantly needing oneself and the otherone to change their way of beeing. To perceiving the world, feeling themselfs and taking action according to ones needs is important for ones freedom and happyness in life. Just look at people who are older and unhappily togheter, having kids and feeling misserable and then to ask the question if that is what we want in life. Luckily my partner had the courage to see reality with sharper eyes and admit that we need to let go of this commitment towards to other to find peace in ourselfs. I see that as a higher love commitment towards myself and the other then holding on to them and by that, preventing us from living.

    What does it mean exactly? Can we continue a relationship thats romantic even if there are incompatibilities?

  • @sexykoreanchic123

    @sexykoreanchic123

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@ambraacadabra yes, you can! It’s important to acknowledge the incompatibilities to know what the next step to take is. The couple in her example remained friends, but were incapable of having a relationship. But they still loved each other. It takes people who are very aware and are capable of really defining their needs though, to make a relationship work in a truly functional way. Of course, many times incompatibilities will mean we have to move on :c Especially if one, or both, people in the relationship do not have the skills to communicate effectively and honestly :c So to answer your question, if there are significant incompatibilities it is very unlikely to continue a romantic relationship but not impossible depending on the maturity of both partners

    She is not talking about that. She is talking about people who have completely different goals, ideas, mentalities, life goals and so on. This is not about liking or hating pineapple on pizza or him liking a certain sports team and her hating it or so on. It is about people wanting completely different tings in life, like in the example Teal gave: she wants to have a family, he wants to travel and prioritise his career over a relationship. That’s no way this will work without one of them giving up their dreams and that is not a good way to go. They will both end up really unhappy.

    Met my person online by accident not a dating site. Been together 6 years married 5. From the beginning made sure we were compatible: Lifestyle ✔ Food✔ Money✔ Religion ✔ Childfree by choice ✔ That was all discussed before we even met in person. Have those difficult conversations as soon as possible. I would like to add -- even tho we are from different races, opposite sides of the planet and different cultures --- we are the same and completely compatable. I thought that would be interesting to mention.

    No one is ever 100% compatible that’s a fantasy. You can be compatible but I am certain if you haven’t had issues yet you will. It’s not possible to be in tuned and in agreement with each other all the time. This video I am disappointed with because it over simplified and extreme. There are a myriad of nuances in relationships. Compromise is a necessity not a bad thing to be demonized. Yes you shouldn’t have to compromise yourself too much, but that’s how relationships work and how growth in relationships happens. I mean we aren’t even compatible with ourselves on a regular basis! We are confused, conflicted, sometimes lost. We also seek compromise to find acceptance and peace in our own personal inner conflicts. The same is true for healthy compatible relationships. It would have been helpful for Teal to speak to the gray areas and nuances present in compatible relationships. It’s not so black and white and polarized.

    @@fineartlifestyling let me clarify a little bit --- i am 41 years old -- most people i meet who dont know me think i am around 27. My point is -- i fully know who i am... on a fundamental level i feel that when you are older you are less confused in life and you are pretty much set in your ways -- yes growth does still happen (me and my husband grow together and we teach each other every day to be more compassionate more understanding and more respectful) but for the most part we are on complete agreemend on the big issues in life. The big ones i mentioned. The ones who rock the boat the most. We are completely compatible in those specifically and we are older and know ourselves very well and THAT IS WHY ---- it works so well. We have been together for more than 6 years and married for 5 and we haven't yet experienced anything to "rock our boat". I have had a death in my family and he has had 3. We have weathered some pretty significant storms in the more than half a decade we have been together and we are still 100% happy and fulfilled. I cant tell you anything other than my experience and that is that true compatibility is possible and successful.

We did all of the things that Teal describes here. We tried compromises, I wanted him to work on his drinking and face his traumas and he wanted me to change too. When I tried to accept his alcoholism it made me miserable. I'm so heartbroken, because I loved him so much, I never wanted something to work so badly. It gets worse when there are both genuine incompatibilities and abuse in a relationship. Because if you're not yet aware of all this, the two WILL entangle and make you question yourself even more when you want to leave. At some point it becomes very difficult to tell which is which, and we make all sorts of excuses. Unfortunately we are used to think that abuse may come from incompatibilities and once they are solved/healed the abuse will go away. This is another reason why it's very good to evaluate compatibility ruthlessly, it indirectly shields you from abuse as well.

There is a distinction though, my love is offered unconditionally, but our terms of engagement absolutely have conditions. I am used to being alone, and love being alone, and I love love. And I love the heart that resonates in the same frequency as mine. I can feel all the love in my aloneness, And so never lonely. Soul connection, with respect and kindness is everything. This video validated my recent decision to end the further development of an early relationship due to a serious incompatibility that was identified. It was hard to do because I really liked this person. So much so that afterwards I oscillated between whether I made the right decision or not because my mind tried to romanticize it in the letting go process. But when I tell you in the moment that it was all happening, I spoke with such certainty and conviction, because I knew it was the right thing to do. I looked into my future and saw the “relationship hell” I’d be signing us both up for. A testament to everything I’ve learned since my last serious relationship ended. Great video.

    Wonderful insight on relationships…I appreciate this practical advice. It’s so simple and is going to be very useful for me going forward. I have just started dating again after a very long marriage. Thank you Teal! The man I have been dating for just 3 months is wasting so much of my energy. He is had a work telling me I am broken. I have my life together. I just have my beliefs about love and relationships. He says I will only get disappointed believing the way I do. He will spend hours telling me I bring on problems with my thinking. After listening to this video, I am so aware that I was getting his punishment for not thinking like him. He will shame me for my beliefs. The real truth is we are just not compatible. Period. I don’t need this headache anymore.

    Excellent. One reason some accept non harmonious relationships is they believe it’s better than living alone. Learning bare fingers acoustic guitar is a great music meditation for hard times that gives the gift of skill. NO lessons, notes, tabs or theory just strum six or so easy chords-alone on your own-until your fingertips hurt worse than being lonely. Then play some more. On the other side of the grief there stands a jam-ready musician- and that opens up new opportunities to meet cool and compatible potentials.

    What I love about your videos and your presentation content, Teal, Is that you show the reality of the human situation between two people in conflict or a person in conflict with themselves. You help people see the way that sometimes things don’t work out because of incompatibility, not just A human to human situation, but sometimes for example, let’s say I am an artist trying to force myself to learn chemistry.as much as I might want to learn chemistry,l, At some point if I’m making myself miserable, I need to learn to walk away and recognize my limitations. There is no harm in recognizing our limitations to ourselves or to others. The harm is in hiding from Those realizations and acceptance of them. Three months ago, I left a boyfriend whom I did not want to leave. I left our relationship because we were incompatible and I was turning into someone I did not want to be and so was he. We were getting more miserable by the day. We went to counseling for 10 months. The counseling didn’t work because of our different attachment styles and other personal issues going on in our respective lives that were preventing us From seeing that we were incompatible due to a combination of our own in our inner work that still needed to be done, and because of pure personality incompatibility. My boyfriend is angry at me for leaving. I am grieving horribly over the loss. However, I know I made the best move to prevent both of us from further deterioration of ourselves. I know that I left for the love of myself and the love of him.

    12:27 _"... you can't heal yourself out of a desire ..."_ vs _"... accepting incompatibilities is absolutely necessary ..._ _... to create relationships that feel good mutually ..._ _... instead of ... mutual sensation of shame ..."_ Yeah. What does it tell about our wonderful lives ? Being stretched always between two points on the cross. But you know, most probably I could take any amount of shame, if I could live my desire instead of burning in this. And if my desire would devolve into any other kind of thing, if I could just forget about it, that would be much better than this pain. But no, of course, it's not the way how this wonderful universe resolves its own crp. There would be ways to be splendid but it chooses the cross. (For the most of us, of course ...)

    Hi Teal, thank you for diving once again into that very crucial topic. Could you please elaborate in a future video on how to differentiate between a behavior that comes from trauma and should be healed and potentially changed, and a behavior/desire that comes from trauma but should be totally accepted as a part of us and that could then constitute a genuine incompatibility? like not wanting children for instance. I'm really struggling with that fine line

    I think maybe really taking the time to figure out your non negotiables, needs, and core values is the first step and then finding someone who aligns with those! Like you said, it's kind of impossible to find someone who is perfectly compatible with you in every single way - so creating a firm foundation with patience and healthy communication is probably the best we can do :)

  • @indigoneutral

    @indigoneutral

    I think a big part of this problem is that women are pressured to settle down, marry, and have babies as soon as possible due to the concept of the biological time clock effectively being a ticking time bomb. Whereas men are encouraged to be wild and free. The values between the two genders are almost pre programmed in opposite directions and rather than explore these ideas fully and why a woman might want children VS why a man want freedom, both parties ignore the first signs of red flags of incompatibility or just straight lie about it until the attachment is so strong and the relationship so serious, it's on the road for pain, disappointment, and resentment. Bear in mind sometimes these dynamics are flipped. Sometimes the man wants kids and the woman wants freedom. People need to explore their motivations and make sure they find a partner whose goals match their own. There's a difference in preferring cheerios over oatmeal for breakfast and someone who wants to stay in their hometown all their life VS someone who wants to move to Alaska.

    @@indigoneutral I agree with your perspective. I found out that only way we can prevent this situations is taking time to figure out what we really want, (need),desire, what we missing in life, our resentment etc. as more as we can. Before jumping into any relationship just spend some time with yourself, get spesific and clear with what you want not what someone thinks is the best for you or becouse society in large does. Also it is so sad to see how many ppl just copy others opinions, rutines, lifestyles...it is ok to not have baby if you feel like its not path that you want to take. Becouse guess what- life can have meaning even if you are not married or having kids. Take your damn life in your hands.

    @@tanja5208 YAS exactly. If children are honestly the biggest driving force, I think early fertility testing as well as exploring other routes of motherhood should come before trying to force a relationship with a partner whose needs, wants, and desires aren't in line with it. And that shouldn't be stigmatized anymore. As for men who want freedom, that's not immaturity. It's an expression of a different life path. Not everything has to follow the (often religiously dictated) path.

    Damn it, Teal! I have been fighting this in my relationship and ignoring the trauma responses! I am in self Help/self development field and it’s like you were talking to me! You might as well just said …”Lucia, ….and all the other words in this video”!!! I’ve been facing this hard reality after the three year mark of this relationship and it just feels so shitty! Shitty to feel incompatible, Shitty too want to change everything, Shitty to feel my covert narcissism to change everything for me to feel better, all of it! I have never been in a compatible relationship so my barometer feels unsteady … yet I keep attracting the same person… And here we go around the mountain again! But the more I become aware of this, the more I realize the need to stay in my own reality and not give up hope that it’s not out there… A story I tell myself at age 63 years old. So I’m reacting out of fear and I hate that I see that in me! I think when you talked about the same as when it really broke me! I’m off to the other videos that you mentioned…. Thank you for the SmackDown lol much love💖

    This situation can apply I don't like to love relationships but to relationships in general. I had a situation where I lived with my brother and everything Teal talked about happened in our relationship it wasn't until I watched one of her videos on incompatibility that I realized what was going on we no longer live together but it was very painful and it severed our relationship. She is right on about this. Thank you too for all that you do you are a treasure.
