Accelerating the shift to clean energy | Bill Nussey | TEDxPeachtree

Serial CEO Bill Nussey has created thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in value throughout his career. Learning
that the cost of solar and wind-generated energy was now competitive with fossil fuels led to an epiphany.
In 2016, Bill founded the Freeing Energy Project to accelerate the shift to cleaner and cheaper energy. His book, which outlines his findings following more than a year of research and interviews with top energy experts, is slated for publication in 2018. He plans to turn his attention toward a small set of companies that will further
the Freeing Energy mission.
Bill received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University, worked as a venture
capitalist with Greylock, and received his MBA from Harvard Business School. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Great insight Bill! You are right, the energy industry is ripe for innovation through local energy. Our current grid cannot sustain us in the future.

Very nice talk Bill. I would like to hear your thoughts on the environmental impact of manufacturing billions or trillions of batteries. The recycle-ability of Li-ion batteries is a big ? in my mind.

Oh! You must be talking about batteries like the one in your phone! Yeah, you should totally get rid of that and never buy another one. Great idea! 😂

More batteries! More solar panels! Does nobody realize how manufacturing and disposal emissions for these products make them virtually as bad a everything else for the environment. Nuclear is the way to go as it produces no emissions at all, requires little fuel, and produces little waste. Germany and France have been running on nuclear for decades until they recently started switching to "green energy" and their power costs went sky high and their power supply is unreliable at best.

It’s happening whether you like it or not so get used to it. Wind and solar are now cheaper than coal. Capitalism will have us running on wind and solar by 2040 at the latest. Are you opposed to capitalism? I guess you’re a communist. Who knew!?! 😂

he will probably be surprised if he actually learns how unsustainable and environmentally damaging those "clean" technologies can be. Visit any solar panel factory and see how much toxic pollutants they are producing on a daily basis.

You have any sources of evidence you can point to? Any research papers or investigations from reputable sources?

Of course, there are ecological costs with all sources but definitely cleaner than fossil fuels.
