I have chosen ACCA due the opportunities. After passing 9 papers you are able to study for the MSc in Accountancy with the University of London. After passing 6 papers you are able to study for the BSc in Accounting and Finance with the University of Derby. With CIMA you have to pass way more papers in order to be eligible for a degree.

Hello there I am pursuing Company Secretary course from Insititute of Company Secretaries of India and I have completed my Graduation with Specialisation in Accounting and Taxation .. I am interested in pursuing a career in Auditing, Taxation and Corporate Governance,. Will an ACCA be better for me as i am already pursuing CS i shall also get exemption in ICSA UK (Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK), qualification... Will ACCA and ICSA UK qualification be helpful for a career in Compliance and Financial Audit and Taxation?

Great video, as a CIMA student who has struggled with the format and failed same exam repeatedly with best attempt being 93/100. I find format brutal the more general approach to answering questions would suit me better, I'm under no illusions that ACCA will also be tough but format seems a tad more forgiving based on my research and points raised here....over to ACCA I go!

ACCA is not a general thing. Trust me I'm an ACCA student. There are discussion questions but its the details which get you the marks!

i am a cima student who also failed the operational case study exam twice, and now i thinking of trying ACCA. my main issue is the case study format is , i dont think it is examining students fairly.my reasons are 1. the results dont explain your performance in the questions you took, the exam is divided in four parts , of which 25 marks is allocated.but the results are given on the overall pass or fail, which is confusing, so you dont get the detailed info on part by part performance.so that makes it difficult to know what part you need to improve on. second reason is the questions in the parts i named, are not numbered,it could be a problem or discussion or a report that needs to be drawn, on topic say ,variances.so its not that you fail because you answered wrong or didnt answer to questions, but you fail because you gave little information.honestly speaking i think this exam was suppose to be an open book but i also think students would still fail because they also say that the dont want book knowledge.i sometimes think its meant to test work experience, because they say you have to think of it as a job interview, that makes it unfair for students not currently working.

I think try other resources like open tuition, anything but also ACCA is also the best qualification as it also has management accounting, is flexible u can do auditing if u like, no case study, u will only find case in one professional module.

I gather the poster of this video does not really understand in depth what CIMA actually offers. He only says what you won't have to do compared with ACCA missing out on the broad spectrum of knowledge CIMA can bring and the opportunities lying ahead of the holders. I guess CIMA is not that well understood if you are not studying in details the syllabus.

CIMA members go on to sit on the board of companies and drive strategy, ACCA members crunch the numbers which CIMA dictate strategy upon

This is not true, you also get lots of ACCA's on boards of directors.

That's why CIMA candidates go on higher management positions. Where as ACCA majority stuck in Audit & Tax. CIMA is very broad when comes to different management positions within an organisations around the world. You can also be hired in companies who outsource their audit & tax. However being an ACCA you won't have much options in the management level in these organisations. Also CIMA salaries in London & Middleast are higher than those coming with ACCA.

Yea I know I can choose financial management and management accouting. However, I asked all my frnds who are qualified ACCA's, they told me if u don't do audit & tax in ACCA then u will not find jobs with good pay bcoz in the market only audit & tax have high demand.

U should check the ACCA papers like MA, PM, FM, SBL, AFM & APM !! These are similar papers that CIMA contains in their specifications ! Salary depends on market forces man which is country specific & depends on the Economy!
