1961 Strat Maintenance & Putting together the Ultimate Backup Strat for Thomas
Join us for another exciting episode of Academy of Tone as Thomas dives into the maintenance of his beloved 1961 Fender Stratocaster and searches for the perfect backup guitar. Thomas will be joined by Valeska, who will read comments from the chat so Thomas can answer your questions live while focusing on the maintenance tasks, including soldering components, swapping necks, and making optimal adjustments to create his ideal spare guitar from three BluGuitar ‘61 Masterbuilts.
Episode Highlights:
• Stratocaster TLC: Maintenance & setup check: After years of use, Thomas's 1961 Stratocaster needs some attention. He'll address a scratchy volume pot, put on new strings, and even give it a much-needed cleaning.
• Building the Best Backup Strat: Once the maintenance is complete, Thomas will assemble the ultimate backup Strat from three BluGuitar ‘61 Masterbuilt Strats. Inspired by Eric Clapton's "Blackie," he'll swap necks, adjust pickups, and possibly change pots and caps to achieve a sound and feel as close as possible to his cherished '61 Strat.
• Guitar Criteria Insights: As Thomas works, he'll share the criteria that matter most to him in a guitar, offering valuable insights for anyone looking to fine-tune their own instruments. You’ll learn about Thomas’s preferences for individual parts, the variability in sound among necks from the same supplier batch, and how he compensates for minor issues through setup and electronics tweaking.
Don’t miss this chance to see a master at work and learn from Thomas's vast experience in guitar maintenance and customization.

Thanks for watching this quite nerdy episode with „too many Strats“ - about all the little nuances and things that have influence on the Tone. I’m glad Vakeska joined in to enlighten the very dry topics once in a while…😊 I hope you can take away a few things to make your favorite guitar even a touch better. As there are so many little things, I will show you more in future episodes… Cheers, Thomas

Another great episode from Nerdbrücken with a tireless explainer Thomas and Valeska made sure that everything stayed in the right place. The Strat's contact with the cleansing Lumpen was very, very gentle and reserved 😅 and too short 😀.

Kleiner Tipp.

Lassen sich damit David Gilmour Sound spielen, also extreme Bendings?

  • @BluGuitar

Die haben compound Radius. -> werden nach oben immer flacher… dann geht so was. Kann ich ja in der nächsten Folge demonstrieren…
