The bon Scott years!! The best!! 👍
In Australia also known as 'Its a long way to the shop if you want a Sausage roll'. In memory of Bon Scott this song has never been played Live since his death.

So true
Guys the bagpipes are representing Angus, Malcolm and Bon's roots as they were all born in Scotland
The story is that Bon came to Angus and Malcolm and said that he wanted to contribute to the song instrumentally. Bon and Malcolm were stunned, one of them asked, "What do you want to do? Do you play an instrument?" Bon goes, "I play bagpipes." Bon's dad was the director of the Highland Bagpipe Corps. By the way, it was Angus' and Malcolm's sister that came up with the idea of Angus wearing the school boy uniform on stage. They had tried other gimmicks before settling on that.
We used to play around with the song lyrics & sing "It's a long way to the shop if ya wanna sausage roll". Glad you enjoyed AC/DC, one of the most international bands of all time.
Prefer the video version from 'Countdown' where they are all on the back of a flatbed truck. It is going down one of the main streets of Melbourne, Victoria with three Scots Bagpipers (in full regalia) backed up to the cabin of the truck so they can play whilst the vehicle is moving.

I seen it in a double disc DVD called Family Jewels. Probably the best entertainment you can get from a music video going thru their classics.
AC/DC have never performed this song live since Bon died, because it was his song.
Angus and Malcolm thought about quiting after Bon died but Bons mom told them to go on. And never tell a scot that he can't play the pipes, he'll prove you wrong.

Bon Scott's mum made a point to attend their first show in Australia after Bon's death, she also spoke to Brian and basically told it is okay.
That's not the only reason why Angus Young always wears that schoolboy uniform. Apparently when asked in an interview about it, he said his teacher told him he will never get anywhere in his life. So basically the uniform is a dig back at her.

My wife sings this song in her band, I was so shocked she even put down her phone to watch this as I streamed it to our 75 inch TV
Speaking of the bagpipes. I have Scotch-Irish blood in me from my mothers side. So the pipes touch my soul!!! And Bon rocks on this song. There is a version of this song where they are in a city on a wagon. there are men marching behind them playing the pipes. They almost have to run to keep up. Later they are up on the wagon with the band!!!! his is a great video... Thank you all........
We have a bon Scott statue in my home town where he grew up, and a couple months ago we had a moving concert on the hwy he wrote the song “Highway to hell” about, was pretty cool

I love both Bon Scott and Brian Johnston, they both brought their own singing style to AC/DC. They are one of the biggest if not the biggest band to come out of Australia and there is another clip of "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock 'N' Roll)" where they road around the streets of Melbourne I believe on the back of a flat bed truck playing it live, I'll put the link at the bottom. defiantly should do more AC/DC maybe research some more Aussie singers/bands. Fun Fact: the bands name came from the plug on Angus Young's sisters sewing machine.

I knew this stuff when I was a baby pushing myself out of the womb to get more ROCK! I still find it amazing that people haven't heard of the legendary bands or their songs. Are people under a rock? Open your ears and ROCK EVERYONE. You know what it took for me to even get to listen to Rock music! Buying the vinyl and holding it like a precious egg with a huge smile on my face. So eager to get home and lay that black disc down and watch it spin. The magazine stands and MTV told us so much. I would never trade it for anything! I can't forget killing my parents car battery so many time tuning into the rock stations. What a time period!
I like the other video when they are outside. Still killer bag pipes from Bon Scott :)

the A on the school outfit hat is for Ashfield High School where Angus went to school in Sydney Australia, though he never completed school he left at age 15 to play in his brother's band, Malcom and Angus rocked it , Malcolm Mitchell Young was an Australian musician who was the co-founder, rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist and songwriter of the hard rock band AC/DC. Except for a brief absence in 1988, he was a member of AC/DC from its inception in 1973 until retiring in 2014 due to health reasons and died in 2017. Angus McKinnon Young( the well know Australian Guitarist in AC/DC who does ten-minute solos) is an Australian musician, best known as the co-founder, lead guitarist, songwriter, and the only remaining founding member of the hard rock band AC/DC. He is known for his energetic performances, schoolboy-uniform stage outfits, and his own version of Chuck Berry's Duckwalk

loved it. It's the boys like I saw them back in '75 in our local town hall ...and it only cost $3 bucks to get in. The last time I saw them (without Bon) it cost $148 and I think the first time was still the best. They rocked hard and played loud and I was 15 and loving it.

I loved seeing Daryl Somers at the end - that guy spent most of his career being upstaged by a Pink Ostrich. He actually had a long career as a tv variety host starting out on Childrens TV and ending up with the same Ostrich Puppet offsider hosting a Saturday Night Variety Show that definitely was going way over kids heads. If you ever get a chance check out some Skyhooks like Women in Uniform or Horror Movie - they were around the same era as AC/DC and had some truly ground breaking stuff that still holds up pretty well.
Guys you have to see the original video of this song. They are dead set playing on the back of a truck going down a street in the middle of the city here in Melbourne,Australia. With three bag pipers walking behind the truck, great stuff.R.I.P scotty
I'm Australian and they now have a highway named after Bon it's called Highway to Hell , in Perth Western Australia. Been there , done that. ❤️❤️
I love that you include your kids, it's a great way to introduce them to classic rock, i played Led Zeppelin, AC⚡DC, Pink Floyd, etc for my kids in the 90s, and now they play it for my grandchildren, and they love it, let the rock live on 🤟
Angus in his PRIME!! A literal baby face!
What a classic for them! That was great! Thanks for reacting. I have the version where they are in the back of a truck, parade style. ❤️🔥❤️
My mum was a nurse & needed to go up Swanston st & it was so chaotic there for their clip to this. She didn't care about all this haha like omg mum. There's a statue of Bon here in the Fremantle town square Western Australia , and fans come here to see his grave at Fremantle cemetary
If you are coming to Scotland, you have to come to Kirriemuir. It's just north of Dundee, on the way to Aberdeen. About 10 miles away from where I live. There is a statue of Bon, as it's his home town. Holding his bagpipes. It's a bit of a pilgrimage for AC/DC fans.
Great front man ... absolutely agree... This is AC/DC to the core.
Bon was brought up in Kirriemuir in Angus, at least until his parents emigrated to Austraila when he was 6. Fun Occurance:- there's an actor called Enn Reitel, who, despite his name, was a fellow Angus lad. Enn decided to try his luck as an actor in Austraila in the late 70's. Bon, who'd never met him before, found out on the grapevine what was happening, met Enn at Sydney Airport, offered to put him up, and the two proceeded to get merrily pissed.....
Best clip of this, is on the back of a truck driving the streets playing, seeing people running to get close. I think it is impossible to find now, but it was the original telly clip.

one reason Bon may have been holding the bagpipes was that when they put them down on the stage floor, people would try to pinch them! i believe the bagpipes ended up in many pieces after a crowd westle over them.
bon was a drummer in a band that had bagpipes but didnt play them in it so he had to learn them to play them in this song
A girl comes up to a bagpipe layer and says "You know sir, if you did not squeeze that animal like that it might not squeal so much."

You mentioned Scotland... Edinboro University, in Edinboro PA... the town looks similar to Scotland England and the college football team is named The Fighting Scots. Every year the college hosts a Highland Games event. I don't believe I've heard this song, but it definitely has the usual AC/DC sound.
