I was at a party when I was 18. It was a typical week-end get together with too much beer and too many teenagers crammed into 1 apartment. Me and this guy were warming up the air around us when somebody put on an album I never heard before. I started hearing these bad-ass guitar licks that sounded like blues one minute and rock the next. I pushed the guy away and told him I wanted to hear the music. I asked someone about the album and they said "It's a new band called ACDC." I said to someone, " I really like the band but that guitar player is something pretty special. Whoever he may be, he plays like a 5-alarm fire!" I went out 1st thing the following morning, bought the album, and have been listening to Angus Young shred guitar necks to ribbons ever since. I celebrate my 70th birthday in 2 months.

In the mid seventies I would go to the Brighton Hotel in Sydney to see a band called Hush. AC/DC were the support band. I actually kissed Bon Scott on New Years Eve as was the norm back then at midnight. 😂

I am 67 years of age now but in 1974 I was 17 years of age living in South Eastern Australia, and the rock and roll sound of South Eastern Australia back then was a New Band AC DC with a wild young lead Guitarist named Angus Young, Angus caught the attention of an entire Generation of Australian Teenagers with his Guitar work in Babe Please Don't go.... the rest is history !!!

I saw them play, on Christmas Eve, 1975, at the Hordern Pavilion, in Sydney. I was 13. Life changing. I was in a band by age 15 - playing a Gibson guitar, of course. Still the greatest rock show I've ever seen. They lifted the roof off that barn.

Springsteen ticks all of those boxes and he doesn't even smoke - Angus is one of very few celebs that can smoke in a 60 Minutes interview and get away with it. Both men grew up in tough working class families. The Boss is on his second marriage (30+ years) but he never had a reputation for any of the antics of his 70s contemporaries.

For Those About To Rock Tour 1982 (age 13).......the cannons went off and shook windows for blocks, Angus jumped off a speaker stack out of the smoke and slashed his knee open, blood running down his leg, never missed a beat. Everything was sun-blistered and beer soaked, stuff was flying through the air. My ears still ring = totally worth it and awesome ! Guy deserves everything he has got !

Angus doesn't drive. LOL this video says he has a car collection. Malcolm owned a Nissan van or something, but they aren't into cars. Brian Johnson is, they obviously got their AC/DC members confused.

Angus Youngs biggest influence was actually Ted Nugent. Angus considered quitting AC/DC and with Nugent starting a new lineup of The Amboy Dukes with Ozzy Osborne on lead vocals.

Id imagine he is incredibly wealthy ... the band had a pretty incredible run and in the end was a massive corporation more than a real rock band really... got to see 9 acdc concerts over 20 years tney were always really tight

A lot of people forget where Australia was at in the '50s '60s early '70s. And even prior to the '50s. For example, I went to school in Australia in the '70s. 90% of my school friends, there parents were British Scottish Italian Greek German etc. We even had Vietnamese kids. After the second world war with Australia's population so low a lot of people migrated out, to start a new life in a free country. Even today we have people living here for over 50 years who still cannot speak fluent English. Every band to come out of Australia in the '60s and the 70s had some type of overseas background attached to them. So the question remains is AC/DC an Australian band? The answer is yes! It's a bit like saying am I an Australian because my parents are British?

I have liked AC/DC since my youth, when the first came on the music seen. I recsll attending obe of their concerts at Mo n ash university, in Clayton, Melbourne as a student. And thrn Angus comes on, in his schoolboy uniform and me bri g a nsive country girl in the city, thinking everybody was supposed to look fashionably ultra cool there, unlike in th e bush , back home snd I'm thinking 'What on earth is this? Some school kid still in his young boy short pants, playing in a heavy metal/hard rock band? I just couldn't get my head around it. 'Oh, focus on the music, not his legs in school boy pants', my boyfriend at the time said. I tried, but Angus image was somewhat distracting. But I still enjoyed the show and wanted to hear more of their music. Shame he is th e only remaining one of the original band.

Love AC/DC, love Angus, they may have inspired as many hard rock and metal musicians as Sabbath did. That being said everyone knows Malcom ran the show. Not taking a damn thing away from Angus’s playing or razor sharp leads but man AC/DC’s gut level drive, that boogie, head nod, foot stomp rhythm was all Malcom, no tighter rhythm guitar player ever.

I wanted to watch this until I heard the dope narrator.

Has anybody heard that comic version, with 'alternative' lyrics to the famous AUssie song The Seekers did, 'I Am Australian', where the subtituted chorus lyrics say: I Am, You Are, Not Quite Australian? Q. Unless you are a full blood Aboriginal, is anybody really fully Australian? We come from all over the world. Even our Aussie national anthem, Advance Australia Fair says that. So what's the big deal about Angus coming from Scotland, having Dutch wife, property overseas etc? Australia raised him, like it did me, from early childhood and he is an Aussie citizen. So, I think we are entitled to claim him as one of ours, 'not quite Australian', like most of us, but near enough, good enough, mate!
