Abu Ghraib Prison - Iraq | Documentary

The Baghdad Central Prison, formerly known as Abu Ghraib prison (Abū Ghurayb or Abu Ghuraib, or 'Place of Ravens') is in Abu Ghraib, an Iraqi city 32 km (20 mi) west of Baghdad. It was built by British contractors in the 1950s.
During the Iraq War, American military and the Central Intelligence Agency (American CIA) committed human rights violations against prisoners held in the Abu Ghraib prison. They physically and sexually abused, tortured, raped, sodomized, and murdered innocent Iraqi Muslim prisoners.
Here's some background information about the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal which took place during the Iraq war.
April 30, 2004 - Maj. Gen. Antonio Taguba's report detailing his investigation of the 800th Military Police Brigade is released.
Taguba's report stated that the following abuses happened in this incident:
1. Punching, slapping, and kicking detainees; jumping on their naked feet.
2. Videotaping and photographing naked male and female detainees.
3. Forcibly arranging detainees in various sexually explicit positions for photographing.
4. Forcing detainees to remove their clothing and keeping them naked for several days at a time.
5. Forcing naked male detainees to wear women's underwear.
6. Forcing groups of male detainees to masturbate themselves while being photographed and videotaped.
7. Arranging naked male detainees in a pile and then jumping on them.
8. Positioning a naked detainee on a box, with a sandbag on his head, and attaching wires to his fingers, toes, and penis to simulate electric torture.
9. Writing "I am a Rapest (sic)" on the leg of a detainee accused of rape, and then photographing him naked.
10. Placing a dog chain or strap around a naked detainee's neck and having a female soldier pose for a picture.
11. A male US military guard having sex with a female detainee.
12. Using military working dogs (without muzzles) to intimidate and frighten detainees, and in at least one case biting and severely injuring a detainee.
13. Taking photographs of dead Iraqi detainees.

+betatalk357 im doing zimbardo right now in connection to abu ghraib as far as group pressure goes. We just finished Milgram. Uh no, no one would sign up if they knew those were prerequisites. So it seems that people will be John Wayne in the prison experiment if allowed to by superiors. the reason why i said to the best of their abilities. anyway one can only hope to be a darby, or brandt. thats were the unknown comes as you dont know who youll be in these situations. you will say what you will do right now but youre not in the pressure packed situations as they were. Because like i said to torture and treat people maliciously is a choice. i do not condone this behavior by my fellow Mp's. Thats not who we are.

The Iraq war showed us that American government doesn't give a rats' ass about human life no matter if there own Marines got killed in mass numbers and wondering why they are fighting the war... Least assured they did not care about a million people they murdered on the pretense of finding WMD

Torture a man long enough and he will say anything you want him to. Ten years in prison for doing this sort of thing? The guards involved should have been removed from the military and put in a federal penitentury for twenty five to life.,

I knew very little about Abu Ghraib. It's not something which had a lot of media coverage. I am more disgusted and shocked by this documentary, than I would expect. This is something which should have been covered a lot by the media all over the world, especially in the countries which participated in this war. Right now we keep seeing very narrow and selective media coverage. The mainstream media in the West is manipulating us, to support certain wars. And examples like this are a potential result of it...

Simply detainees/prisoners of (war), treated the same way as state troops... it is sad to watch such Human Rights violations and still, the judgements are so minimal, state trying to not place burden on the agences of its own(USA) and still it is very clear that these are the greatest violations of international law. obviously rule of law, USA never hurd about it.

@@muhammedshefin3939 Nothing, they are just trying to cope and find excuses for their imperialisitc wars and trying to appear as the "american heroes" but that's okay, they will eventually fall to civil war soon with all the racial tensions and political problems and that's the better thing that will come out out this century.
