That's a very kind comment. Thank you very much, Dawn. I felt we all needed something calm and quiet today.
What a superbly tranquill, calming scene, just what is needed in this worrying time the world is experiencing at the moment, genius to add the texture paste its brought so much movement to the water, again Karen you have produced another superbly expressive piece of art.....you are THE master.....best wishes from the UK x..

Thanks Carolyn. We all need some distraction these days. Mine happens to be in the studio where I can focus on my art and nothing else. Helps keep me sane.
I think you've outdone yourself with this painting. I particularly love the lower right corner with the darker area and then how it's reflected on the upper left corner. And the texture really ads so much interest. Brilliant! Thank you!

No need to be sorry on the parental front....things worked out and if anything it made me more determined to create in my own way. Hi Karen! I just recently discovered your channel and I'm amazed by your art... I'm from Barcelona and I painted all my life, but I started with acrylics and abstract expressionism a few weeks ago. You're my new source of inspiration! I just want to know if you have any blog or something similar where you tell about your tools. If not, could you tell me if you put gesso before painting? What is the round green tool that you use to blend some of your paintings? And which kind of brush do you use? Than you so much and excuse me for all the questions 😍

Lovely!! I am intrigued about the tools are you using is a round green tool to blend color, what is that exactly also are you using an sponge? Thank you.
Just found this one , missed it when originally posted. Lovely seascape and I really like the texture and detail and soft colouring. Thanks for posting. Must go to the dollar store and get some sponges,(although you make it look easy).

As always, Karen you are amazing! I'm so glad I found you! you are so much inspiration for me! May I ask, what kind of tool you are using in the beginning of this painting? How do you get your paint to blend so easily ??? Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us!

Thanks for the comment, Brenda. I'm happy that you enjoyed the video. That "tool" is a sponge, the kind that tile setters use, cut into pieces.
Karen, I love watching you work. Thank you for sharing with us. I watch the video slowed down to 50% speed (otherwise I tend to get a headache). I'm so curious about what you are using to apply the paint, especially in the early stages. Is it a sponge? Anything special? I want one (or 10 lol). I'm also curious about your process. Do you sketch out the painting ahead of time? Choose your colors before you start? And was the texture medium a kind of molding paste? And last question for now, what kind of paint are you using? You know I'm a fan...I'd have a house full of Karen Hale paintings if I could afford them and had enough wall space to hang them. 😘
@karenhalepaintings

Wow, that's a lot of questions. I did use a sponge on this in the beginning just to get a layer done. I use the kind of sponge that tilers use for grout and cut them up. I don't usually sketch, This did have molding paste. I use acrylic paint. If you go to one of the more recent demos you will find a list of supplies I like to use in the "show more" section, just below the description.

Thanks for the comment and for watching. When I lay out my palette with 25+ colors, I plan to do several paintings off of it and don't clean in between so I have no idea exactly what colors I used. I feel that part of the journey and fun of being an artist is experimenting and finding out for yourself what works and what doesn't. The tool I use at the end of the video is a soft piece of plastic. Have fun with it, good luck.
You have Gold hands 😉

Hi Karen, as always, I'm thrilled! I enjoy your horizon images (that's what they call). I hope that I can learn enough from you to paint something almost as beautiful myself at some point. I'm on my way ... Do I see that the colors never dry during the whole painting process? Do you always keep them moist and keep painting on those that are still damp? Keep it up and thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your comment and for watching. I work wet into wet but let each layer dry so the next layer doesn't disturb the one below and I can let some of that come through.

Watch it then stop it redo and do it step by step stop the video when you need to catch up and you do as close to her colors as you can. I do not plan on using the texture. If you watch she does the sky first back and forth the water then a lighter color in front. Just try it and surprise yourself.😊
