FB Marketplace has destroyed buying things at a reasonable price. These sleds in my area are north of $2,100

I have a '98 MXZ 583 that's still going strong: I don't know how many miles or hours but many. That sled could go thru WWIII and it will still run. Cheap to maintain and fun to ride. Love the late 90's MXZs.

yoo, i got a 1996 583 with 6k miles, it smokes like all sleds before it. you can get one for like 1500$ liquid cooled too.

Same here, have a 97 mxz 583, and a 98 formula 670. The mxz is a unit. Takes big bore sleds to 70mph before they overtake me. I’m not kidding either. I’ve raced my cousins renegade 850 with an ice ripper track several times and the mxz consistently didn’t get passed until 70-75. Granted it is geared properly and has updated springs in the clutches but it is still a 583 at heart

I can vouch for the 2000 MXZ 700. I bought a new black limited edition and absolutely loved it. I just found it being parted out on Facebook marketplace! Broke my heart, I really loved that sled and the great memories. I managed to buy the hood from the guy, now I have to either buy a sled to put it on or wall hang it.

Ya man as a Cat guy, and I mean I bleed green, that 700 mxz I used to have was a beast. Not the most comfortable sled out there but fast as hell and tougher than nails

I paid 200 for a xlt600 that just needed gas lines.

Yeah you can get good performing snowmobiles for less than a 1000 If you look hard enough. I bought a Polaris XC 600 deluxe for only $525. It needed a water pump rebuild and top end but in the end I only put like $300 into it

Same but mine was free with a couple others and they all had under 1000 miles

I picked up a 2002 Artic Cat ZR800 with only 5500kms for $500. It's literally in mint shape, and the guy just needed it gonna. Hadn't ran in 7 years, and fired up on the 2nd pull with fresh gas and plugs.

@@tijerdog Nah, I just got super lucky. I offered $500, he accepted only if I could pick it up same day. So I borrowed a truck and ripped to Sudbury and back. Didn't get home until midnight, but I got the sled lmao

It'll run forever. Owned plenty of them and zr900s . Look for a 2000 thundercat zr1000 triple. Those sleds are hands down the best sled we owned. Bought it brand new in 2000

I just seen 432 thousand arrows snowmobiles to Yamahas and a Polaris that had like an inch of dust from sitting on a trailer in the garage in an estate sale the grandson sold all three just yesterday $1,000

I traded a 65 Cadillac. In this deal I got two zr600 a 96 zr and a 01 zr then yesterday I got a free skidoo formula Z 583 because the chaincase blew up so I put in a spair one and it works just fine

I paid 19000 SEK or $1,900 for a 2008 Polaris Dragon 800 RMK 163. To me it was an complete steal

Sounds like I need to come to the us pick up a bunch of sleds then go back to Canada and sell them because where I’m from all those prices he said was a load of crap

I have a 2001 yamaha phazer 500. For a fan cooled 500, its plenty fast and plenty powerful for deep snow. I've hill climbed it in 2 feet of sinky powder without any issue.

If you want to ride in mountains or 4+ feet of powder, you need a 600cc+ engine and 140+ track length. Anything under those specs won't make it. 2008 700cc 155 Mountain sled is $1,800-2,500. For serious sledders look for something like this

@@Lamelldiff I have the 2008 and it's a great sled for a few thousand $. Has over 2,000 miles and has never been rebuilt.

My first sled is a 2008 arctic cat m1000 162 track My second sled is a 2017 skidoo summit xp 800 174 track My 3rd sled is a 1979 arctic cat panther 5000 lol Yes I live were there is real snow and real backcountry lol Gotta love 16 feet of snow B.C. baby

I personally love the older sleds too, new ones are great and make stupid power with turbos. But and it's a big but, I like fixing my own stuff. And for me it's so much easier to pop the cowl and adjust a carb, or replace the jugs than tear the seat off and all plastics before you can see the motor. Plus I am not paying 23k for a sled lmao even with great winters we see 5 months maybe of sled riding.

I am always envious of all the sleds in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Montana has an ok selection but higher prices.

Gotta love the old firecats. An 04 f7 makes around 145 stock without mods and there are many mods available for them all over.

my polaris xc sp goes up 90 mph and it is a 500cc

Sold all my Snowmobiles 3 years ago. Got to the point you couldn't ride the trail with a bunch teens andc20 somethings running you off the trails. Thinking they are On a Race track.

Ohh hell last weekend I picked up a 2003 ski doo 600 ho rev with 3640 miles for 2000, and I also picked up a 2007 Yamaha phazer for 2000, they are way way better then anything on this list lol

Phazer? Ummmm You might not be liking that one forever. I could be wrong but my neighbour bought one and it must have been built on a Friday cuz he had endless stories of breakdowns with that one. One of the few Yamaha's that was endlessly in the shop. Maybe it was a one off. That 2003 Rev was a first year model for Ski doo (revolutionary first stand up snomobile) but I think it was fine. Does it have that weird rear suspension? If you can get a 2006 or 2007 Rev HO 600, that is the final year of the Rev and they were mint by that time. Happy Trails!

@@davidnoyes9115 that's good news. i only have experience with that one that I spoke of. My 2008 Nytro has been exactly the opposite luckily. 15 years and still runs like new with a just a few minor hiccups along the way which I fixed myself. Hopefully your experience is the same.

Mxz700 were not reliable but fun as hell

Right now it's actually the time of year when the snow is all gone when you could you might be able to get some of these sleds near these prices but good luck doing that when the snow on the ground s*** and everybody wants twice that at least here in Michigan😂

Too bad the thing most people don't think about when buying a 20 year old or older sled is the parts availability. The older they get the harder it is to find parts.

0:50 are you kidding me? My XC SP 500 will hit 100mph easily. SMH… a little sled that will hit up to 40mph. Who is this guy.
