Sold by Rossleigh Limited on the 5th June 1973 this genuine UK RHD example, represents 1 of just 8,370 fuel-injected models built and comes from the first year of production for the CR prefixed models, engines rated at 125bhp with cars being identifiable by their revised dash layout, the addition of a 'rubber type' lower front spoiler etc. Having been owned by the same keeper for the last 5 years this particular example has only come to market as the owners involvement in the Morgan Owners Club meant the TR only travelled 1,000/yr.
With super crisp lines, her paintwork gleaming brightly finished in White as confirmed by her BMI - Heritage Trust certificate, this TR6 looks just right. The history file confirms that in the last 15yrs the car was restored by an ex Triumph dealership mechanic, who'd purchased the car from a Vicar, the owner from 1975, with the Vicar in later years having placed the TR in storage for circa 20yrs. Having been Ziebart treated when new and with her low ownership we'd suggest that the 59k miles indicated could be genuine, your own research needed to confirm. Lenses, wheels (the original 5.5J x 15), tyres and glass rubbers etc all remain in very good condition, our hyper-critical eye informs that front/rear bumpers have some tarnishing, but they don't detract .... she's a lovely looking example.
Open the door and you're meet with the original Triumph logo'd steering wheel, the seats looking great in black with white piping; seatbelts and carpets are in fabulous condition too, with new TR6 logo'd over-mats in place. Should you need test the folding soft-top we're happy to say this remains in excellent condition too ...... though naturally we would rather enjoy top-down motoring with the hood cover / tonneau in place, its great to see these are the originals with date stamps in place.
Mechanically the TR6 is in fine fettle too. Starting the engine and the senses are heightened, the 2.5 litre offers its distinctive straight six rumble and on selecting gear and going up through the gearbox, enjoying the smooth Overdrive, the car pulls with a wave of torque that offers a wonderful driving and aural experience. She offers light positive steering on the move, brakes well, corners nicely and feels tight, the excellent drive being support with a raft of invoices confirming cherished on-going maintenance and ahead of any sale the car will pass to our trusted engineer for a bumper-bumper 'health check' attending to any pre-MOT works, she'll be serviced and naturally come with a new 12 month MOT too!
With the best, concours examples now commanding £30k+ finding a genuine, strong, useable UK RHD Triumph TR6 PI isn't as straight forward as one might think. With a good history file, we have invoices for circa £7k, Tax discs & MOT's, our experience tells us she's well cared for example and ready to be enjoyed further. She offers any classic enthusiast a great way into classic TR ownership, with the 6's offering a charm that some of the more common place open-top classic simply can't match.
