At this br players, especially on gunfighters, will end up slow trying to get kills. Smacking a figther with a 200kg missile is overkill, but so freaking fun 😂

my best game was back before SSPs and missiles when in the IIA I ended up with 6 kills, 3 assists, and 3.8 tons of bombs dropped. I was running an XP booster and I had talisman, 112k xp and nearly 300k credits. I have never even gotten close to that since in any aircraft.

@@Hyper_1989 don't forget that when it was first added they were 8.0. I understand the A being moved up as it was just a hunter minus the turn radius, role rate, and slightly worse energy retention. But the B only has bombs, its like the first B-57 or Canberra except it loses the maneuverability for energy retention and speed. I still think in need to go back to 8.0

@17:50 You know there is actually a button you can use in keybind to change target which to try to lock. You can see on the radar itself where the( - ) are the planes the radar sees and the target( | - | )that is marked in between the brackets is the one the radar will try to lock. with the keybind you can change the brackets around all the stripes, and so change the target to lock. Its a bit hard to explain hopefully it makes sense..

It should be noted that the R.511s were about as spectacularly shit irl as they are in-game at least if not more so. They were limited to engagements above 3.8km alt because they practically refused to accelerate in denser air.

Little tip, i found out that because the radar is so janky, it's best to set it to 20km range to lock enemies before they are in Matra's 8km range. This way you can evaluate if your target is aware, and what it is. Usually f104s start acting up because they got rwr.

19:26 Had a moment just like this a couple days ago. Was playing some 4.3 Props with a few friends and it was me in a P-38J-15 against the last dude on their team in a Bf-109G-2. Dude just camped his AF and ran, avoiding a fight for 12 whole ass minutes. One of my teammates who was watching seemed to be even more upset with him than I was and had an entire paragraph of shit talk typed out. Let's just say the paragraph began with "Listen here you two-bit, twink ass, [redacted]." 💀💀💀 Funniest part is that when I finally caught him, the dude proceeded to pull right up into me without any additional maneuvers when he was 1.2k away and gave me a perfect gun shot. You could bring an Su-11 to 8.7 and it'd still perform better than this thing. "It's good at picking off distracted targets," "It's a bomber hunter," "It's a support plane," "It's not meta but it's fun in a full downtier" All different ways of saying "This thing fucking sucks and can't do anything on its own." I mean, sure, you don't want radar missiles lower than 8.7. But these missiles basically just inherit your plane's velocity on launch and that's all they get. They're so fricking slow, either your target or you yourself will have been shot down by the time it gets to them. The nords are fine once you know how to use them, but again they're flying tunnel vision machines. You can't fly a nord plus your own plane *and* evade an attack.

getting matches like this in a vautour isn't a testament of how good the plane is, because its the opposite of that. nor is it even a testament to the skill of the pilot flying it, because its all luck when it comes to getting a match up this ON TOP of the fact that you need to fly it like you're suicidal to get a single kill some matches. NO, gameplay like this is indeed a testament to Skill Issue on the part of the enemy team. Absolutely insane gameplay but I too have seen my fair share of the team of children playing on their parents laptops.

I have never rotten a successful missile shot off with the matras. By the time the stupid radar locks on the target is 1.5km away.

Is there one french plane that has energy retention ? It feels like Gaijin think French engineers are monkeys that can't differentiate a a square and a triangle. IRL Israelis MysIV ate Mig15, and Israrli SMB2s kept Mig19 in check. Heck, israel did a MiG21 vs SMB2 mock fight and it could win when at low altitude. Ingame they are just trash. I wonder if that bias don't hurt the Vautour II as well.

It isn't a bias against French jets. French jet designs historically had poor energy retention when at high pull. That is a big part of what made them good in dogfights. In real life, both historically and today, you don't full pull that often and if you do it isn't for that long. Instead you pull hard initially to try to establish a superior position quickly and then when you get to your best maneuvering speed, which will allow you to complete a 360 degree turn in the fastest possible time, you then hold the aircraft in a turn at that speed. French jets tended to have a very dangerous combo of being able to drain their speed quickly to cut inside of an enemy to get position and then had some of the better turn rates at their best maneuvering speeds. That combo allowed them to get into a strong position quickly and then maintain it which would then lead to mistakes from the opposition which led to kills. The problem in game is that most people don't bother not full pulling. They just full pull all of the time. To be fair many don't have a choice. It is either full pull or nothing and when you have that as your options, well French jets mostly go from dangerous to very bad. This is because when a jet drops below its best maneuvering speed it just turns more and more into a brick the slower it gets. This is because these jets were not designed to be maneuverable at low speeds. Thus it isn't that Gaijin is deliberately making French jets bad. It is that the sub-optimal control scheme of mouse and keyboard combined with a lack of proper dogfighting knowledge and skills on the part of the player base takes what would otherwise be a fairly dangerous French fighter jet line and turns them into very poor performing planes in game.

Having spaded every Vautour in the game i can confirm comfortably that this thing is just Bait for Morons™. Which luckily (or unluckily) there are a lot of at 8.7-10.0 ARB

Unrelated question: Is there an actual strategy to deal with Su-25s in an F-4C other than j out when they point their nose at you? Even when I could dodge the missiles, I usually have to cut engines and pull hard enough that I tank my my energy which means I can't get away from or turn with the Su-25. If it wasnt so good at hitting bases I would've legitimately given up on it.

Yeah i think flareless planes are super fucked. What i did in the F-13 facing A-10s was just climb super high, stay high until im sure they probably all already fired their missiles and then go down and gun them down. Only way. But now the Tornado also exists…

Running more than one r511 seems like a waste tbh, nords are just much more usable both as a weapon and as an improvised flare

I think I've only been killed by one of these once. Almost twice, but he missed his bnz and I was in a MiG-15bis. I immediately reversed him because he couldn't turn, blew him out of the sky, and just said "you shouldn't have missed that burst vautour." Cause tbh I probably would have ignored him if he hadn't gone for the bnz

You know another plane that almost never gets g overload warnings? The arado c3. Its bigger and heavier than the b2, but you cant tell me that i cant turn with it. I had 12g overloads with the b2. And with the c3 i struggle to pull 8g. GAIJIN PLS

The C-3 Arado is incredibly disappointing, coming from the B-2. The only issue I had with the B-2 was the lack of guns, so I thought the C-3 would be nice! Oh, how wrong I was. The extra engine power is nice, but it's not enough to out-run the jets in the 7.3 range, and the weight sacrifices any maneuverability it had, making it turn worse than an F-84. And the two measly MG 151s do _not_ make up for it.

this thing flys like its Center of Gravity is forward of its CG limits. When you come into land and get your flaps out and you need to drop the nose down to fly straight, until you get below 300kph and then you have zero elevator authority.... its not correct.

I feel like this thing will be useful in sim where there is a br cap and majority of planes you go up against have no radar or rwr

is it just me or did this latest update completely fuck everything up. My F4Us seem useless, I used to get about 3 to 4 kills on a good day and 1 to 2 on a bad day with my A10, now id be lucky to make it to the center of the map. So far I have lost 1/2 SL by loosing and repairing. Did I loose my mojo or something change ?

bro french nation is an entiere pain in the ass, we simply can't get kills with the props (low turn rate, fire rate, low caliber sometimes a third less bullets than every other aircrafts, I shoot all my damn rounds in the aim circle and when I would get the kills with planes like spitfires or any russian, those won't hit I believe very hard this is just bugged AF ) and it's still the case with the jets I want to die ffs

@@frostedbutts4340 The radar will not lock when I press the controls, but it fires rockets when I try to lock and the rocket does not follow the target, I have a mig21 and everything works normally.

OMG I'm grinding the Israel 9.0 one what a fricken mess I hate that thing with a passion almost one of the worst jets I have spaded..... big mistake doing it in AirRB. Plus im just on the research fror the French Vautour IIN late they call this thing a Fighter/Interceptor..... LMFAO whats it fighting... its self to make a turn or intercepting an enemy missile up the butt. Its a bomber and should stay that way cause its nothing like a fighter or anything else. I almost would pick the Tu-4 over this thing cause its on the same level. Plus this thing seeing Su-25K's and su-25's what a damn joke
