Join us on our Exploring Abruzzo ‘Grand Tour’ day as we explore some of our favourite Abruzzo highlights with the most wonderful group.
We visit the 13th century Oratorio di San Pellegrino in Bominaco also known as the Sistine Chapel of Abruzzo - you’ll see why… total fresco heaven!
We drive up to one of the Borghi piu belli d’Italia; Santo Stefano di Sessanio where we explore the ancient streets and take a guided tour with Elena up its famous and recently reconstructed Medici Tower.
Driving on the Campo Imperatore on our way to cook arrosticini at Ristorante Mucciante you can see why the area was used as a location for Spaghetti Westerns and also many other films including The American, The Name of the Rose and Ladyhawke.
We meet our friend and guide Lorenzo Baldi in Calascio and find out about the fabulous cooperative he set up; ‘Vivicalascio’ which has created jobs for the local young people from Calascio providing them with a source of income so that they can remain living in the village.
We cycle up to Rocca Calascio using the E-bikes from Vivicalascio where Lorenzo gives us a guided tour of the famous castle.
Also with us for the day was Abruzzese Series Producer Piero who was filming us for a Channel 4 UK series about our lives here in Abruzzo, and in particular about our palazzo project: @thedovetowerabruzzo (Facebook and Instagram)

Guidiamo fino a uno dei borghi più belli d'Italia; Santo Stefano di Sessanio dove esploriamo le antiche strade e facciamo una visita guidata con Elena sulla sua famosa Torre Medicea recentemente ricostruita.
Guidando sul Campo Imperatore mentre andiamo a cucinare arrosticini al Ristorante Mucciante puoi capire perché la zona è stata utilizzata come location per Spaghetti Western e anche molti altri film tra cui The American, Il nome della Rosa e Ladyhawke.
Incontriamo il nostro amico e guida Lorenzo Baldi a Calascio e scopriamo la favolosa cooperativa da lui fondata; 'Vivicalascio' che ha creato posti di lavoro per i giovani locali di Calascio fornendo loro una fonte di reddito affinché possano continuare a vivere in paese.
Pedaliamo fino a Rocca Calascio utilizzando le E-bike di Vivicalascio dove abbiamo una visita guidata da Lorenzo del famoso castello.
