Grieving for those who are traumatized by this devastation. This only proves that everything in this world is temporary. I think it is in the Book of Ecclesiastes saying there that everything is vanity under the sun. God is all powerful. Whether we are good or bad persons, we are not spared of these fearful calamities. Made me realize again not to hold onto the fruits of our labors tightly. Coz in the snap of God's finger, He can take it all away. Prayers of peace, protection and surrender for all of us esp the victims.

It was in Abra I experienced the most devastating sufferings, emotional pain, shaming , belittling in my whole life from her siblings abroad, apo from 2nd degree nieces who called themselves baptist christians, desecrating my wife's small hut by her own apo and nephew and his bayaws and nephews second degree when they made the hut their drinking alcoholics den, with the approval of my wife's sibling abroad. ; when my wife died, she was from Abra. The baptist church pastor did not even comforted us but instead insulted me during my wufe's necrological service did not honor me as the husband we were out of the service program, very painful. I cried out to God my Creator's Holy Spirit to guard my heart from pain.

Agreed! Going cheaper isn't always better. So many buildings here are built by inexperienced or non-qualified builders or underpaid construction workers whose company doesn't care about building codes or standards. They cut corners to increase profits and do not care if people suffer long term.

Amen I Looked at the rain heavily falling from my window and asked if there could be no more flooding only the healing rains that extreme heat has caused to our lands. To fill rivers and other natural waterways. To please forgive us for believing we could change nature. Mother except my apologies.

Agree, kc yung buong second floor na bumagsak na bahay, mukhang sobrang bigat na ata yung upper part ng house, then nilagyan pa ulit ng third ata. And yung mga beams, ang ninipis and kulang sa bakal. 😔. They also need to check the bldg code if incase meron need irevise. Kc sa Japan, magnitude 9, very minimal yung nasirang structures. Tsunami yung naka pinsala sa kanila.

Here we are worrying about the flash flooding here in the northern Southwest. I hope peoples of these different regions receive relief soon. This is the second strong earthquake I have experienced in the Philippines and both times videos posted on social media show many families doing something extremely dangerous during and after the quake. People running outside into the street and standing under power cables! I know it's tough to avoid in the cities but it can be more dangerous than staying put indoors.

I saw the same type of judgment during the pandemic, people who had a "nice" house were told they could not get any ayuda. No one considers whether those people worked hard to save a tiny bit over years and years to have the home or vehicles they own. A nice house doesn't mean you currently have a ton of money in the bank, it could just indicate well-managed finances and sacrifice. I know two families in my barangay that were denied ayuda because of their "nice" house but they had no income as the breadwinners lost their jobs thanks to covid closures. So their nice house didn't help them keep food on the table! Everyone's story is different, don't be quick to judge.
