I really like having a common mode choke on the coax. Thank you for testing the coax.
Great idea with the high vis outer sheath and built-in ferrites.👍
Excellent job Jason. Now I know how to use my Rig Expert 500 for checking my cables. Thanks.
The ferrites won't have any affect on the coax performance. They are there to block common mode currents on the outside of the coax. Normal RF is on the center conductor and the inside of the shield. That is what the RigExpert is testing.
I have some of their cable, wish there were more sizes available in the US, great cable.
The simple answer is yes good coax is worth it. I live in an HOA and need every tiny bit of signal I can get because of compromised antenna, buy once, cry once get the best.
A very good review. Thanks.
Great review Jason! 73

Sold quickly. I got the last one in that color. I turned around in the forum and poof, you were gone. I did get a picture while you were napping hahahaha.
Good video Jason..
Informative video! Thanks. 73
I have a bunch of ABR cable, all their cable is great. Since the local HRO carries a bunch in stock, that doesn’t hurt. Lol. I’ll have to check out their new offerings, some LMR400 wouldn’t be bad here at home….

HRO? Just not sure what that is. Thanks in advance
thank you
I bought some at huntsville. I like it
Now I need to upgrade my cable. 😢
Question having the coax wrapped up in the coil isn't that a choke also.
Is the loss always a linear relationship in all cable? I ask because you mentioned dividing the results by 4 to match the length of your cable.
Good videos. Do you have a website? You should sell some of your PI projects. I think some people would be interested in purchasing rather than building. There is stuff I'd life to play with but have no time and questionable expertise. Especially with Linux.

Currently I don't sell any of the Pi projects but might in the future.

There are many Ham users of RPi, Linux, BAP, 73Linux and projects that would be happy to help expand your expertise, just ask...
Any ideas where to get a short connector ?

Not by itself but you can get it as part of a kit - amzn.to/3KQBIWk
I would love that cable but I use 2m and 440. Which of their offerings would you suggest for that?
@KM4ACK

Depends on portable or permanent install. Permanent, go with ABR400 for runs up to 100'. For portable it's more difficult. I usually use 8x for 2M and keep the runs as short as possible to keep the loss down because taking 400 into the field is a PITA.

I am looking for this type of cable for a portable rig. Only really need about 20ft. That still your recommendation?
@KM4ACK
10 ай бұрын
@@James-bm3ri Yes. The loss with 20ft will be about .72dB on 2M. So if you put 50W in, you will get ~46W out at the antenna. Less loss for HF bands. Don't forget you can save 10% with code "abr10km4ack" 🙂

On the builder page, look for 218XATC - abrind.com/shop/cable-builder/amateur-radio-coax-builder/

that link is of no help, I would like to order the cable that you are showing. I found that store. 218XATC is not listed. @@KM4ACK
ABR is good, but I'm not sure M&P is worth it

I use M&P it is really amazing coax, yes it's a bit pricey but I think it well worth the price. I figure that you get what you pay for.
The more I look at this option the more obvious it becomes to me, it's a waste of good money.
