ABR Festival Trail - Why you *SHOULD* ride it!

#ABRfestival #BridgestoneTrail #ABR #Motoeuro
Didn't ride the ABR Festival Bridgestone Trail? You should, and here’s why…..
Speaking with you guys at ABR 2024, some of you chose not to ride the ABR Trail - The ABR Festival Trail is around 30km and is great fun - you DO NOT need off vast off-road experience or knobbly tyres. It’s big bike friendly and is straight forward. Skim / watch this video from start to finish and see what you’re missing.
Its an easy bimble, not a race, you don’t need to stand on your pegs constantly or have Chris Birch skills.
I had stock road rubber and a nasty hangover and still really enjoyed it!
Grab your Trail Pass in advance and give it a go. You’ll thank me next time.

If you’ve never done off road then it’s a good introduction I suppose. But you could also find some equally good unmade roads near where you live. Oh, and don’t do it on road tyres in the wet. Personally I’d prefer to be out riding than listening to someone talking about going out riding. Did a section of the TET yesterday morning and saw Alice Cooper on stage last night with a few beers. You don’t need to be spoon-fed to enjoy life. Get out and do it every weekend.

I hear ya! ABR is just a bit of fun, and for first timers, its an easy intro with support from marshals and other riders. This is hardly an enduro or TRF meet, its just a bunch of people having beers and making new friends while ‘giving it a go’. Cheers :D

In 2022 on the Friday morning that little corridor between the trees 2:23 had a muddy puddle about 15 yards long.. the guy in front of me went sideways I had no where to go and the front of my Africa Twin AS washed out. Went down at about 4/5 mph and broke my right ankle.. on Bridgestone Battleax A41’s road biased arrrgh managed to pick it up and carry on riding the trail which was dry pretty much everywhere else thinking hmmm something not quite right with my foot 😢😂. Rode it home to Stratford upon Avon then off to A&E and 5 weeks in plaster. Road tyres my arse 😂😂 Man cave Moto also fell at the same point on his ‘road tyres’

I've never been offroad before and the first thing I did after pitching the tent was take my rattley old GS Adventure on the trial. Also did the shortened version twice on a Pan America and loved it!

I went to ABR Festival having crossed Africa and Europe for previous 3 months - certainly wasn’t going to pay to ride around the trail with hundreds of other bikers pootling along. I enjoyed the festival for the speakers - Adam Rieman, Sam Sunderland, Sam Manicom, Chris Birch and Billy Biketruck being my favourites - also seeing all the bikes - best CF Moto 450MT, Aprilia Tuareg 660 and the Indian Chief ( lovely) and good to see all the accessories and meet some fellow riders. Bands and disco were good too. Don’t like eating lard and sugar so a welcome local Waitrose provided some “nutrition” and “fibre” and “flavour” - English food not quite as good as Italy, Turkey, Egypt and South Africa !!! But English beer is far better and that’s a thumbs up 👍 Not sure I will ride across continents to go again - but glad I went. Although went to something at same place 12 years ago when riding from Cape Town to Shanghai - Overland??? horizons Unlimited ? Can’t remember but it was more fun - slow riding competition and riding the round the world postie bike through a swamp.

I gotta be 100% honest, I used to love the ABR, but I do think it’s too big now if there is such a thing. Way too busy and too many queues for literally everything. I also think they’re out pricing a lot of people. Me the wife and kid priced up for 2025 and it pushes £500 plus!! Just my humble opinion and probably wrong I usually am 😂 Love the videos 🤙🏼

I hear you and totally get that. It is busy and Q’s are sometimes a bit crazy, but for me the atmosphere, bikes and bands are worth the indulgence. BUT…. Instead of ABR getting bigger, perhaps they should offer ‘day tickets’ for say £50, then we could rock up for a whole day and leave and still get the experience. Thanks for the comment :D

@@Motoeuro Yes! We said exactly that, £50 day ticket with the trail would be absolutely ideal. Little wonder around, couple of laps and go home. I’d more than happy, Scratch the itch etc and not have cost the earth. Seems to be a charge for everything now though don’t think we’ll end up going 2025. I agree though the atmosphere and event is great.
