This video is officially my go-to for screen calibration and audio equalisation. I've watched it about 30 times already. When my dad got an LG C2 Evo a few days ago this is the first thing I played to test speakers, saturation, gamma, sharpness and Color Gamut. Just amazing. I especially like the final part filming the helicopter with that small aperture, very cool.

The quality is absolutely outstanding! I'm watching this with my new 1440p monitor and loving every second and frame of it. Though I need to let it load for a fairly long time, lol

Its amazing that the shot was possible at all, not even including the editing. The best parts for me are the American Flag at the beginning and the water. You can't normally get that level of detail, this man is an expert.

Incredible, the final flyover looked so surreal, almost like a 3D rentered scene. Beautiful color and tone, nice song too.

You don't need a 12k screen to benefit from the higher resolution acquisition. The extra resolution provides many advantages, including smaller noise pattern (which would make it disappear in lower delivery resolutions), reduced risk of aliasing (especially in a shot like this one, where you have a lot of sharp lines moving around), and the ability to reframe as needed. Shooting at a higher resolution than the final viewing resolution will be is extremely valuable.

Yuval Shrem : A grid is a grid. Aliasing is mainly linked to pixels size. I look closer, and ... sorry, the pixels on my screen have not changed in size while watching this video. Anyway, downscaling is destroying. Nothing else.

This is damn incredible on a huge 4K display. Better than most '4K' videos. Yuval Shrem is right about decreased noise.

This video is absolutely amazing on so many levels, everything is perfect, slow moving drone, sharp picture, astonishing architecture, awesomely fitting music..I wish to visit USA and New York once in lifetime, see Times Square for real

This is oddly nostalgic for me. I used to walk around with my friends in Times Square every day after school and stay there for about 1-2 hours before we all go home for the day. On most days we would start heading to the train around the time Times Square gets like this. Great video 10/10

Yes, normally this is true. This reminds me of when I was in a band years ago. We happened across a sub-woofer that was retired from some huge thing. I think the guy said IMAX but I don't remember. It could've been used in one of those rides like Startours or something like that. At any rate, being a metal band, we bought it. The thing was gigantic. It took up the entire bed of a full-size pickup truck. It was also really heavy. On the front of this thing was a metal placard that basically said "WARNING! Standing directly in front of speaker while powered could result in injury or death" I am not even kidding. I asked the guy we bought it from, "how in the hell can a speaker kill someone?" He told me that it moves so much air that it can make your chest cave in if you are near it. You see, a couple weeks before this, we had just purchased some hefty power amps. We had bought 4 amps, each of them were 2000 watts at 8 ohms. They were to power our entire band's sound systems. They handled everything very, very well, even the bass. It was absolute overkill. One of those amps would have been enough. We decided to sell 2 of the amps. But before we did, I'm sure you can guess what we thought was a good idea at the time. It ended up not being a very good idea. Every window in the studio and the house it was attached to was blown in an epic way. Every car alarm on the whole block was set off. I had to change my underwear. This studio was in a residential neighborhood. I'm sure the neighbors thought it was an earthquake or low flying army of fighter jets. I wish we had got that on film.

I have a macbook pro 2017 and i can play this in 8k just fine however the screen itself is not 8k so you still need that dell monitor for the true 8k high dpi experience, I wonder if we ever gonna get our hands on the raw lossless 12k footage must be a about terabyte for such short video

I can't stop stare at my screen looking for the people passing by, by lateral streets that you can only see on the corners just after the tip of the buildings, trying to see anyone at windows, even "inside the Barclay's panel" - the lights and scaffolding... I can marry this video.

WOW! That looks so crisp but also filmic as hell! I only have the LG 31MU97Z-B to judge the resolution here but it looks as if you could grab some of these tiny people and cars on the streets! Incredible shots with an incredible technique Phil! Thanks for sharing.

A theater/display that really shows this off would be fantastic to imagine. But how big would the screen need to be, and where would the viewers have to be positioned to take advantage of the full 12k vs 8k or even 6k?

It comes down to the optimal viewing distance for a given display size. I've seen as small as 13" 8K displays and you can see the difference in quality. Personally I'd like to see 40-70" 12K screens. Same for upcoming 8K televisions and monitors as well. 8K looks very nice in 24" even.
