Above And Beyond
Created through collaboration between Partnership for 21st Century Learning and FableVision Studios (www.fablevisionstudios.com), Above & Beyond is a story about how thinking outside the box (literally) -- celebrating the 4C’s (communication, collaboration, critical thinking & creativity) -- all of which can foster the kind of original thinking and innovation that leads to STEM inventions. Now a book! Above and Beyond has been adapted into an award-winning children's book, entitled Going Places. Written by Paul Reynolds and Illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds, signed & personalized copies of the Going Places book can be ordered here: www.thedotcentral.com/peterhr...

Every person has different perspective. Helping hand-in-hand with such creativity and mindset will lead you from higher output expectations.
Thanks a lot for making this for all children and their teachers.
Reminder to me....Never forget that students own their learning.
You can go up and beyond by faith in our Jesus.
We really enjoyed this video/book/visual aid. It was very entertaining and it taught us a lot about 21 Century learning skills.
You nailed it, sentiment of combining the 4 Cs for 21 century
It wonderful and I love it it so beautiful!!!!!!♡
Love your work. You always see beyond the obvious.
Thank you for watching, this fabul is very interesting and useful.
A great video on the way that kids can innovate & collaborate. While there was a series of uniform kits that came off of the truck before the race, those kits had an original designer - and by modifying the plan, Charlie and Maya became part of the evolution of the object. It's also interesting to note that both had their strengths and weakness, but by collaborating, they were able to make something greater.
Este é o casamento perfeito entre colaboração e criatividade!!
Sem dúvida que a criatividade e a interajuda fazem a diferença ...!

very wholesome!
This is really awesome
Excellent! I am a teacher and I wish some parents were a bit more imaginative with their kids. We need to develop creativity in kids.
Creatividad, buenos lectores, trabajo en equipo...
Very inspiring. Thanks.
Definitely inspirational.

Ah, but it all depends on perspective, doesn't it? If you don't know the parameters that came with the kits, you can't tell if they were wonderful successes or failures (or even cheaters). I'm not at all against thinking outside the box (I'm one who often does it and that's probably why I saw this video differently than most), but unless you know what you're measuring, it's hard to tell if you're successful in achieving that or not. :o)

podia ser em português por isso eu gostei como não gostei por estár em português e esta é a minha opinião
The problem with the real world is that they would've been discouraged and eventually disqualified.
quiero subtitulos en español!!!!

a cute movie and nice sentiments, but..... if the Wright Brothers decided to build an airplane based solely on studying birds, we'd all be walking now. What happened to the part on research - why not show these kids in the library reading up on how an airplane works or talking with a science teacher or other adult? I don't think this was an optional piece to exclude from the whole process.
That was beautiful, especially the artwork. But, what does it really mean? Is it a statement against Common Core Standards? Is it against communism?
I entry thinking it was trance :'(
ver bad vidoe mad e me cry
where the fuck is the music!
What is this
I hate this video. Its well made and looks nice, I just hate it.
Nice sentiment but come on. IRL those kids never would have flown, they prob would have lost the race bc that thing was not aerodynamic what-so-ever, and since they lost, they would have thought twice about using Maya's asinine ideas in the future. They would start something romantically, but Maya being the creative thinker she is, would grow bored of Charlie's pragmatism and run off with some rebellious type. Ok- What i'm try to say here is that, it's doing kids a disservice by creating videos that are teaching the use of really brilliant concepts, through really far-fetched story plots. Kids are going to grow up thinking that if they just follow the 4 c's, everything will magically work out and their hunk of wood will start flying, they wont be criticized, and job offers pile in from top design firms everywhere: The end. OR the real kicker: Let's say their figurative 'hunk of wood' does fly, well.. IRL no one bats an eye because, "its a really competitive market out there", or "designers are dime a dozen". Charlie went and filed the patent behind Maya's back a few years ago anyway so.. watch out for that too. Kids are smart, let's teach the 4c's in a way that's entertaining, and sensible.

+Lauren Loffredo Sorry the story didn't work for you Lauren. It's an intentionally allegorical fable - obviously fantastical. If that didn't work for you, you'll really hate the way the book version (GOING PLACES) ends. The intention was to suggest that just following directions isn't going to cut it IRL. There's no set of simple worksheets & step-by-step directions. The market does reward original thinking, invention and innovation. Schools need to give kids more space for that kind of thinking/doing/building. But you're right, on the patent filing. And Maya just counter-sued for breach of contract. But that's a different story. BTW, I like your feisty spirit - I'd love to see you write a 4C's story in a way that you think would connect better IRL.

Hey Paul, it's pretty cool to get a reply from a famous person- and I get it. I think that, organizations which have great influence, like yours, could be more thoughtful, and more critical of the material they release. Everyone in the ED space is taking advantage of this 4c's, STEM, makerspace etc. movement. I don't take issue with the styles, I find it offensive that corporations take advantage of these trends, and market using gross oversimplification of a complicated thing. I'm sure you've seen these products and campaigns just about EVERYWHERE in the past few years. Pearson even got in huge trouble for something along those lines. I think there could have been much more thought put into a video from an organization that people actually listen to. I do write about this kind of thing in my blog. Thanks for replying to my diatribe, my apologies- it's not often I sound off like that. Your video is just slightly off mark but in 'kid', that converts to alot.
i do not like this
wonderful!
