About our International Day Celebrations

The Woodlands Diversity Group is a staff-led initiative, made up of senior leaders, teachers and teaching assistants committed to ensuring all pupils develop a sense of identity and self. We are proud of our diverse culture in Woodlands and enjoy promoting the rich heritage of pupils, staff, and families. We want all pupils to feel valued, respected, and part of a widely diverse community that is built on respectful relationships that promote tolerance and acceptance of all. Since its inception in 2020, the Diversity Group have started work on developing a more inclusive and diverse curriculum that acknowledges our unique cultural, social, and ethnic differences, including celebrating cultural events, religious events, and more.
One of the main events is called INTERNATIONAL DAY.
This event is organised by the Woodlands Diversity Group, with support from Friends of Woodlands. We look forward to celebrating our rich and wonderful cultures with pupils, parents, staff, and the entire Woodlands community, and also share some of the fantastic work that we have been doing involving diversity at school.
There are lots of different activities on the day including:
• Cultural Fashion Show
• Treasure hunt
• Dishes of the world (food sale)
• World Disco
Each year we hold the event in June. It is always the highlight of our community and school calendar and very well attended by parents.
This video is just a small example of what to expect when you attend.
