This is my, basically, a personal question, and the final question in this interview meeting with Patrick today. Where, when, how your BioBizz journey begin?
It started about 15 years ago. Actually, I`m a bookbinder, but I had a opportunity to work for a wholesale company, for grow shops and hydroponic stores in Holland. And I became responsible for the international sales. And in Holland BioBizz was not well much known yet, but in Europe it was actually in getting quite good demand. For a couple of years, I was selling BioBizz all over the Europe along with all the other major brands that you have in Holland. And at one moment because I had a very good click with a people from BioBizz and I like the brand very much. And quite honestly - I'm a vegetarian. I prefer an alternative lifestyle, I eat vegetables that originally produced and that are from the season, you know. I don’t eat strawberries from Israel in wintertime.
So the whole package an idea of BioBizz was appealing to me and at one point he said “OK. Wanna come over and work for us?”. And I said “Absolutely yes!”. And that it 13 years ago now. And in this 13 years, there was.. I think we had approximately 13 countries that were salling BioBizz. That was in 2005, when I started. And today we are at 63. And I’m responsible for maintaining the key countries within Europe and I`m also helping people in new countries with the first steps in purchasing and selling BioBizz. So, you know, I’ve represents Skandinavia, Central Europe, Eastern Europe, but also countries like Turkey, Israel, Japan, New Caledonia, Brasil. Basically, we are all over the world and I represent approximately must be 30 countries nowadays.
So, it’s been 13 years and quite honestly I think I’m going to grow old working by BioBizz.
Yeah, you have the title of mister bloom and its worthy.
It’s just you know, that with BioBizz, because there’s a lot of nutrients brand. And let’s face it, nobody making the nutrients that is crap. If you make a nutrient that is not working really well, you know, your client will discover this in a couple of month. So, there is lot of stuff to choose from. But with BioBizz I just feel most comfortable, because it is 100 percent organic.
And we don`t mess about. We go as far that , for example, the worm that are producing our worm hummus, they get fed organic potato peels, you know. So it’s from beginning to the end it’s completely organic. The peat moss that we are using, which is a quite intensive industry, it has also a huge impact on our ecosystem. We try to do it as sustainably as possible. You know, we wait for 5 years for the peat moss to grow back, before we harvest it again. And in the other areas in Europe, people are doing it every six month. So we take care of those little small details. You know, like not using any ingredients that are genetically modified. And in my opinion, you know, I cannot change the world. If I tomorrow start riding a bicycle more, I can make a small impact? I cannot change the world. But all of us together, if we are saying “You know what? Whenever I want to produce myself, whenever I want to create in my own garden or in my own room, I want this to be sustainable. I want this to be done with the positive way of thinking.”. So, you go for organic.
Not only because it gets you a good quality, not only because it gets you a good taste. Quantity is something that you decide yourself anyway. But if you can have quality and quantity and the product that has been sustainably produced this is an easy choice to make. And this is why I feel comfortable to work for BioBizz, because it is the product range that I believe in myself as well. That basically is an extension of the way that I stand in my life, you know. And this is why, I probably will never get bored working for this company. And it gives me, of course, the opportunity to come to South Africa and it’s so far it does have been fantastic.
