Aboriginal Austrialian Mythology: Dreamtime, Cosmogony, Rainbow Serpent, Afterlife, & Customs

This is Spiritual Studies session #43
Often undermentioned, the Aboriginals of Australia had a wide variety of cultures and native beliefs prior to colonial takeover. This includes 100s of languages, trade amongst they neighbors, differing stories, and a uniting history. But how did the Aboriginals get to Australia? How long have they been there? Living in continental isolation for the greater part of human history, how do their spiritual beliefs contrast with other cultures that we’ve studied throughout the course?
This session will give a brief history of the peoples, a nebulous discussion on the concept of “Dreamtime,” and pour through some commonalities and differences in beliefs in regards to deities and creation stories.

good film bro . im an aboriginal man from the birrigubba juru people in Queensland. these same stories n creation myths all come from creation(from the time it happened) and the better you remember it and pass on as you we told it brought great blessing upon you and your family the gerat creator spirit rewarded you . and if you told knowledge from a lazy or misleading way . and kept back half the story was considered a breaking of the lore . not to pass on knowledge exactly as you heard it was a forbidden thing to do . thats why the storys are all the same... it was a massive part of man hood n tradition to be trusted with the knowledge and to be a faithful distributor of it ... that was a part of the lore to deliver knowledge faithfully. your on the right track mate 👌 thanks for the recognition .

Hi..I'm Australian born but my family origins are Melanesian then sprinkle in European mixes which are luckily registered back to 1500's. Which can trace the European side a little. So physically I'm Hazelnut skin ( and difficult to pin down to a peoples even to Polynesian..Indonesians..Australian Indigenous..Malaysians they don't know what I am) Now living in this country where Geographical changes are few for extended time that's really impossible to calculate, energy here is running on a moderate gauge. Extremely bright brilliant sunlight always that is always revealing and burns all to black. The bleaching and reflections off water have glittery powerful effect that it stings like looking at the sun. Golden zaps of brilliance happens everyday. That is fulfilling to any desires of the fantastical wants. Spirit and body have had the light show of wander. A calmness now can bestow you cause no need to seek it. So people can now move on different fundamental thoughts of change and choice cause we have our fill of the joy. Unique...it turns out yes ! But gods, creation and working out a perception that is teachable results in a simplified way. No need to gloss or add to or expand cause you don't require fantasy. Then languages..culture will follow. Spiritualism here won't bother you ..chase you...cause it doesn't require attention. Just the peoples living on the land is plenty. Guess you say it's chilled..? But you can't be chilled unless you're filled.

Rainbow serpent... Quetzalcoatl? What I can say for certain is that there is only one mystery across the whole of humanity, and it is the doctrine of the soul. The dream time casts images of the Nun in my mind, taken in a Vishnu-like sense as he reclines on the lotus in the sea of mind that is the potential for every creation. Take a look at Ubulawu and the dream traditions of Africa (in terms of research, what should be the religions of Africa is classed as ancestor worship instead, so use ancestors in your search terms)

take into consideration the gaps before Genesis 1 and between Genesis 1 and 2, including more gap times a few verses down and you will learn the Bible teaches the earth is much older than 6000 years. The Bible also mentions one day on earth is 1000 years in heaven, the earth was created in 6000 years. But like I said, research "gap theory". I am also a creationist, I believe the bible literally. You can open so many doors with this info, look into the pre adamic era as well

The serpent was always associated with both water and the Mother Earth's energy force. The serpent was almost always female, but sometimes there would be a balancing male counterpart. Since the water was also associated with amniotic fluid and blood. Look into the Naga deities in Hindu, or even better Nepalese Shamanism. There is also Isis who is a serpent goddess, if you look at images of her there is a cobra coming from her forehead.

Their culture in general since aussies settled has been completely obliterated. Their land, lifestyle, customs, their children, their tribe histories in most parts were slaughtered when we first got here. They try to teach you that it didnt happen, apparently the previous generations were too busy to find this? I grew up in the 90's in Australia. On the job site ppl greeted each other as cunt, not even as a slur, just 'oh gday cunt' with a smile and all following with some jolly chat. My father hated gays, used the word fagget aggressively in front of me and such all the time. the adults of the time would also talk in such way towards the aboriginals (abo's they like to call them) People are literally products of their environments. That behaviour still is around today but back then stuff like that was in the pub, the hair dressers, at school, in the park, at work, everywhere. They never have a part in our communities, infact ive not actually seen one in years now, albeit i live in victoria and the real majority of remaining culture lies to the north and west of the country. There were alot more when i was under the age of 10 around. In that same regard our culture here gives no paths to leading to anything except for the exclusion or simply to write the aborigines off the map. The government here does just enough to make all the ppl who pay the subject no attention, so subconsciously go on with their lives thinking that were treating the issue with good intent, those same ppl with never visit and of their historical sites, or the modern day people to see what is. Just like politics, finance and the like most peeps are asleep. You should search for this, during covid the western Australian state premier had one of their cultural leaders on tv giving covid news. She spoke english. The premier would say a sentence, pause for her, and she would say the same sentence, it sounds funny in a way, but it needs to be watched to understand. Its disgusting what has happened to them, the modern day aussie will tell you they have no value, they are alcoholics and drunks. But in essence there whole universe has been taken from them and their ability to be. You will struggle to find a large amount of educated people in their communitys in general now, let alone someone who can read, write, use a computer, use or even own a car, have access to general services, and then get past any gaslighting or so on from governmental sources. This is what the west cultivates in general, the the brits, the modern day America. In saying all that, there are pockets of groups of people whom do what they can, but they have become much fewer in the last 15ish years. For every 1 good thing you can find there are 10 horrendous things that have come because of colonisation. Ive only ever seen 2 aboriginals become tv stars, ive never seen one become a leader in anything (im sure i could find one in parliament if i google it, but they wont have any say on any part of government that really does anything, and i can say that with confidence without even looking. At this point in time, for the greater world beyond, what is even left of them, after the last 200 years i wouldnt be surprised if they simply didnt wanna tell us about their precious traditions and beliefs in general.

The Aboriginal people of European contact times, are no older than 4,000 years. Their rock paintings, etc, show no record of mega fauna. Their DNA is NOT that of Mungo Man. Their languages indicate that they could not have been present in the continent for more than a few thousand years... and no good explanantion has ever been given for the presence and domestication of the dingo... other than, LATE arrival. This continual insistance that the Aborigines are a culture and a people who go back more than 60,000 years ago is utter bolderdash!
