Aboard (2) - Steamship Christiaan Brunings
A different engine room lullaby! In the engine room of the icebreaker Christiaan Brunings, built in 1900, stands a two cylinder compound steam engine of 375 hp with a maximum of 160 revolutions per minute. Since 1968, the Christiaan Brunings is owned by The Scheepvaartmuseum in Amsterdam and is kept in sailing condition by volunteers. We see the firing up of the two furnaces under the boiler and the bunkering of coal in the Aziëhaven. The Christiaan Brunings is known to the wider public as the ‘stoomboot’ of Sinterklaas, the mythical bishop who brings gifts to the children of the Netherlands.

Mooie reportage, en chapeau voor alle vrijwilligers
Here we are , snorkeling in Kootenay lake, in Canada and the boiler on the Hosmer tug wreck looks the same as the one in the Christiaan Brunings.
Leuk verslag de Brunnings lag lange tijd tegenover ons in het kanaal door Voorne als hij op stoom gebracht werd snel de was naar binnen ik vond het altijd een mooi gezicht als hij uivoer en weer binnen kwam

Geweldig dat een schip als dit in stand wordt gehouden. Overigens, een 2 cilinder stoommachine met aan beide zijden vulling vergelijk ik met een 8 cilinder motor.

Als het aan Meneer Timmermans lag is het binnenkort over en uit voor dit mooie schip, alle kolenstokers wil hij gaan verbieden.
Dat heeft me een idee hoe het eraan toeging op een stoomschip zoals de Titanic.

What kind of blower forces the draft? The height of the firebox must make for difficult firing. The stoker must have tremendous muscles on his back and shoulders.

Prachtig ,, Het after-market zacht soldeerwerk is wat minder, En is er geen sponsor welke een dubbele trechter voor het kolen bunkeren kan maken ?

@@ariekopkaas2638 Die trechter kan deelbaar (opvouwbaar) zijn en gewoon een vaste plek aan dek krijgen
