Ableton for Live Bands: Setting up a Full Performance with Anomalie | Reverb
Ойын-сауық
When Anomalie performs live, his band uses virtual instruments and triggers events in Ableton Live 10 (along with live instrumentation.) This technology is vital when translating his studio sound to the stage. Today, Nicolas Dupuis (a.k.a. Anomalie) & Co. join us in the Reverb studio to show us how it's done.

They ripped this idea wich is a masterpiece
Yo this is absolutely huge, had no idea that if everything was in one instrument rack your only using one core. To everyone involved making this video, I really appreciate it! Thanks so much

i literally just subbed to you cuz of this comment hahah
always wondered how Anomalie switched sounds without touching any patch changes. This dude set it on autopilot with pathing. Genius
You know what anomalie needs to do. A series of how he arranges his live shows...like everything!!!!!!
I've watched this video a couple of times, and I still have a hard time comprehending exactly what's going on, but still so amazing to see the levels

Very interesting way to bring a live aspect to music that doesn't really lend itself to live performance. Live Electro-Jazz

Haha sounded kinda rude but true. Electro jazz sounds completely different. He's a classically trained musician first but he made his own sound. He indeed has enough skills to perform live. 😂

yea I understand. Wasn't really rude just... straightforward lol. But I agree.
Ive been wondering how Anomalie changes sounds so fast and smoothly on the fly without racks and racks of gear! Ableton level 100!
I needed this and no one more qualified to show us than this guy!!
this band is the dream theater of electronic music ... simply genius!

Damn I forgot about this dude since I got off social media. This guy is killer!
My computer would kill itself if it saw that in ableton

He repeatedly emphasized tricks on how to maximize CPU usage and he was using a regular Macbook, which can use maximum 16gb no more... *L-I-S-T-E-N* when a master speak.
These guys are insane I am a new fan 🔥🔥

I studied with Nic on Saint-Laurent college, in Montreal total class act. Also majored in orchestral composition, not less - which shows a lot when you think about it! He's basically used his traditional orchestral composition skills and transposed them to Ableton... genius move indeed. A really awesome and unique musician :)

Awesome breakdown! Anomalie really does go the extra mile to make both his music and live shows special
That live performance at the end!!!!! wow!
First thing I did when he opened that file was check his CPU usage. Check 5:32 for the secret sauce. I mean they're sprinkled throughout the whole video so watch the whole thing, but 5:32 was huge for me.
This was excellent, really great job explaining some pretty complicated functions. Thanks for sharing much appreciated!
Anomalie is one of my favorite newer artists. Such good stuff.
When I see its arrangement mode I can see the time spent arranging it ! Amazing !
Really interesting video. Would like to see more along the same lines, how artists and bands use modern tech in their live performances. Thanks for this.
Wow. I need more of these live setup pieces!
This is incredible. I realized I know absolutely nothing compared to these guys! I always max out at 8-10 omnisphere instances, but now I know how to use more. Thanks for this amazing walk thru and may I just say your piano talents are some of the best I've ever seen. New fan right here!
Wow this guy is truly a master of his craft! Props!
So cool of him to share!!!
Anomalie is preposterous, he doesn't even make sense, thank you for doing this, I'm not going to waste this wisdom, I promise.
I didn't realize how much I love Jazz! really inspiring
I'm impressed. In fact, amazed. You are inspiring for me to get to work. You are worth following. I hope for you continued and increased success.
Thanks so much for this, great live use tips!
Some really awesome synth brass sounds!
Thanks for sharing. Helped a lot in consideration of my own live set up using Ableton. Good stuff!

This is EXACTLY what I needed to see if I could use Ableton for my live set. He works the same way I do. So glad this video exists.
What a very disciplined young drummer...thats hard to find these days...Anomalie arrangements off the chain.
Amazing stuff. Exactly what I wanted to see.
This guy is insane on them keys!!
So lucky to have watched him live which led me to wonder how he did *ALL THIS* which led me to this video.

Literally, no lol. If you aren't following the basic concepts you need to look up Ableton videos on automating instrument racks using a chain selector.

Grizzly Wang like literally I just need four backing tracks sorry for being such an inferior being
@GrizzlyWang
4 жыл бұрын
That doesn't make you inferior, but the "basics" of what he's doing would require a series of videos. I didn't mean offense I was just saying if you're not following start with instrument rack videos and automation videos in ableton
@DJRY360
4 жыл бұрын
@@lucaskamal8094 he is right though.. There is no way to put all of the basics that were combined in this set into a single video and have it keep your attention for the dozens of hours required to explain all the techniques and nuance required. This would and does require a series of manageable videos. There are some very helpful videos for beginners that do cover this. One of my favourite teachers of these topics about live performance is Freddy Frogs so you could start there! Pace yourself and it will come quite naturally. Or if you have any specific questions ask away. Surely members of this community will be able to shed light on anything that you need more explanation for.

Great job !!!
Seems like he has his Live session dialed in pretty good. Automation is our friend.
This guy is a genius with music and computers!
WOW! AMAZING!
Super helpful! More tracks spreads cpu load, counter intuitive but I guess the core thing makes sense. Thanks!
This is so cool
This is great!
very nice setup. still trying to decide if to use sesssion or arrangement view for my live setup.
Thanks... it's working... Good Job...!
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!
It's working thanks my friend
Wow. Mind blown
Instant follow and like bro. Cause funk is a Life!
Nice video, it works!
I've been using this same basic setup in Reaper to run my streams the last few years. It is amazing when it works...and very stressful when you have to tech a problem lol
This helped a lot thank you
Great tips
WOW! This is hardcore!
top level!
Ty I got my first divine because of you
It worked! Tank you sir.
Not really my kind of jams but the setup is really rad and his playing is 🔥
Nice, this is way more complicated than the max4live automation I was programming but I think this is the easier route for sure. I think this is way more sensible than binkbeats or something like that, tho.
That was awesome. Do yall have any live performances on youtube and where can i buy yall albums?
I Like your style
Is that a Carl Thompson bass? Looks dead cool... Great and inspiring video too!
