Abilene, Kansas - Federal Signal 500 SHTT - Siren Test 5/2/2017
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
CoSirenCars would like to present a video of this Federal Signal 500 SHTT going off in attack signal for the Abilene, Kansas, siren test. This siren is located in front of the Kansas Department of Transportation off of I-70. Abilene tests their sirens every Tuesday at noon during the spring and summer months, weather permitting.
I recorded this siren about a year ago, but I was able to get a closer view of it this time.

Wonderful! The Thunderbolt's "Lil' Brudder"!
Wow, I didn’t know you’ve caught one of Abilene’s sirens before. Great video! Got to love that 10/12 port goodness!

Yes, they sound amazing.
Very nice! I've photographed this siren before on my travels.
I think someone has a video of a FS double horn 500, i believe its in a town in Colorado, sounds equally awesome!
Nice! A SHTT with a working rotator
WOW!, nice echo and ambience! The "little brother" of Thunderbolt!

Well they were literally made to be a better siren and have less maintenance than a Thunderbolt so almost replacing them before the 2001 series was introduced
For anyone saying that this is a 500AT, you are kind and of wrong in a way. It is actually a Federal Signal 500-SHTT (Single Horn Two Tone)

Okay
Dundee, MI had one of these monsters which is now defunct at the discretion of the fire chief. It was sounded for EVERY fire call, but not for MCA(Monroe Community Ambulance); just when the fire department was needed. good thing I never heard it go off.
Sounds like a TBOLT & 3T with that beautiful 10/12 port!
Love the sound of 10/12 500s!
Nice video!
SICKE
I just went there last week

Yes I know that. The dual headed one is a 550-DHTT/DHST. This is a 500-SHTT. SHTT meaning “ Single Horn Two Tone”

Jacks Vacs and Safety How about you learn your sirens, 500ATs were only 9/12 and the SHTTs were 10/12 and the SHTT has a different intake cone while the 500AT has a different one as well.
dude i’m from here and this shit’s so scary
Would you happen to know who's in charge of setting these off? I was here last April and they didn't test for unknown reasons, although the strong winds and overcast skies may have had something to do with it.
Can someone PLEASE record the old allertor in Bushong KS it's In Lyon County Kansas I think they test that one old allertor at 12:00 PM on Mondays if weather if nice

As far as I know, all 500s in Abilene are still up and running. In fact iirc they have a whole system of them and it doesn’t look like they’re gonna get replaced anytime soon which makes sense as they’re not like Thunderbolts that are super high maintenance. The maintenance these need is mainly on the rotator mechanism with the motor needing to inspected too but no oil changes needed like on the Thunderbolt’s blower
shit!!! that sounds scary
