The Coen brothers are no strangers to double meanings and complex plot structures, and in The Big Lebowski, not only do the filmmakers make pedophilia jokes, they also accidentally foresee the future.

If that interview aired on television in August 1990, then Dude didn't post date the check by a month. He post dated it by an entire year!
This video is criminally low in view count, what a brilliant commentary! I’m glad I wasn’t going crazy thinking this movie was saying something about the gulf war
This is such an amazing analysis ! Never noticed Donny’s changing shirts and the 9/11 connection. The latter is pretty eerie

Wow, what great analysis you did of this film! I have watched it many times and never even thought about most of the things you mentioned. I particularly liked your analysis of what The Dude, Walter, and Donny each represent and how Donny (the silent majority in the middle) ends up paying for the actions of the extreme left and right (The Dude and Walter). Very applicable to our current political situation in the US.
Wow! You and some other KZreadrs have really blown my mind on The Big Lebowski recently. I have always loved the film and try to live my own life by The Dudes "Take it Easy" philosophy but new sh*t has come to light! This film really reminds me of Moby Dick by Herman Melville because there are many interpretations of the material in both instances! There is an epic video on KZread with Hubbert Dreyfus talking Moby Dick and polytheism and I think that his exploration of multiple hidden meanings is most definitely appropriate here! Thanks again for the video it was fascinating although I think that you might be stretching on a couple of the points (see my comments on September the 11th below.)

The September 11th date might be significant but not because of the attacks of 2001. Notice that the date year isn't 2001 it's 1991. On September the 11th 1991 George Bush Sr gave his famously creepy NWO speech to Congress! Maybe this is what the Coen Brothers are referencing? Or maybe they just pulled the date out of a hat?! Who knows.

Actually this movie is well-known to be pretty much what this video says, which is why it's frequently very closely studied academically. There are better explanations in other websites.

Predictive programming -no coincidence ...... DUUUUUDE !! Obvious . Calculated ? You bet it was . Planned well in advance with major occult numerology involved . 69 was no mistake either . Both are hugely powerful numbers . The half n half could have easily cost 57 cents or 81 cents .
