Abdurraheem Green | Dawah battles of the 90s | Blood Brothers #19

In this episode of the Blood Brothers podcast, Dilly Hussain catches up with the legendary Ustad Abdurraheem Green. #BloodBrothersPodcast #AbduraheemGreen #IERA
The veteran da'ee reflects on his personal evolution from playing a leading role in the fiery and arguably divisive "Salafi" dawah of the 1990s to a more inclusive and tolerant approach to dawah.
Ustad Green also explains how the message of all the Prophets (peace be upon them all) included both the glad tidings of Paradise and the warnings of Hellfire, stressing the importance of dawah organisations not to neglect or disproportionately focus on either.
Topics of discussion also include the challenges Muslim parents face when balancing love and discipline with children, and whether white converts to Islam are privileged and ignorant of institutional racism.

Some of the themes covered in this rich discussion between the brothers:- - trying to parent Islamically in the modern day- discipline, education balanced with companionship present as thematic - Western Muslims inferiority complex vis-à-vis cultural imperialism- white saviour preachers? - the zealousness of a new convert - the danger of 'imposing' Islam via psychological intelligence and recognition of differences between cultures in bringing up children, pedagogy, instilling Islamic values and rituals - knowledge as mellowing, contextualizing and balancing - the monolithic idea of Islam being a monolith - the power of empathy - intra- Muslim tribalism and conflict - 'the Muslim is the mirror of his brother'- denouncing tribalism and putting other Muslims down because they differ in theology, ritual or politics - the paradox of power - 'power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely' - 'Islam will enter every home'- A.R.G opines that the current conditions appear to make this possible i.e. (by extension) social media, globalisation, online Quran, ahadith, articles, KZread and journals

Dilly posed all the right questions. Great podcast. However I clearly disagree with last answer of AR Green. Dawah of masses always has a political backing. Mus'ab Ibn Umair's success has a political dimension because he got the Islam of main leaders of Ansar like Saad ibn Ma'az which lead to the conversion of tribesmen.

For Dilly to suggest that anyone who pursues the study of Economics only does so because they are the product of a "privileged" upbringing is really one of the stupidest things I've heard in a long time.

so a friendly chat with a brother who has benefitted the ummah so much, about his life and work is considered weird and idle???? riiiiiiiiight so commenting on a yt video with a pointless comment is helping muslims how exactly??? Nothing wrong with pleasing the masses anyway if its done within the bounds of shariah which this is!!!! Allah aid us from such extreme shallow talk and help us keep quiet when we have nothing of benefit or good to say to our brothers and sisters!!!!
