Best television I've watched all year and it 2020. They don't make great t.v. sitcoms like these any longer.

All i'm missing is my Grandfather getting up to slap the top of the tv adjust the rabbit ears and curse the "Damned Thing" out for the static.

I use to have ti go outside & rotate the antenna then go check tv. Back & forth until it was right. Lol

I remember my family having an outside antenna and one of us would go and turn the antenna while the rest of us was inside by the tv and yelling keep turning it and and turn it the other way. Finally the picture would come in to where we could watch it but it was still a little fuzzy. Lol What great memories this has brought back of my childhood. When I tell my granddaughter about things we had to do when I was little she looks so confused. She ask me once why didn't we just watch NetFlex or watch something on our tablets. 😆 I explain to her that was back in the 80s and she acts like that was the stone age era.

I remember getting up and tapping the TV myself and adjusting the rabbit ears and putting aluminum foil over them and moving them until I got it just right and it still be a little fuzzy but cool way cool

oh yeah man me too every Tuesday night happy days at 8:00 Laverne Shirley 833's company at 9:00 too close for comfort 9:30 and Vegas at 10:00

I was 18 during 1979, so the first 18 years of my life I knew TV sets simply worked from the roof antenna...there was no basic cable during the 1970's and before. None of us knew any different. By 1980, we finally had basic cable, the town we lived in had gotten the service. Our TV was one of those consoles made of wood, with a 26" screen. With the roof antenna, if an airplane flew overhead, it made the TV program bounce up and down. If a neighbor used a power tool, the program zig-zagged. Sometimes the 'vertical hold' knob really worked. Those TV sets used tubes, like old radios. TV sets with metal bodies felt hot from use, and those kind often had to be struck with one's palm. The wooden consoles never felt hot, and the wood was too thick that a hand slap wouldn't jar the insides. My parents didn't get a modern TV until 1992, and currently have the flat screen kind. As beautiful as those TV consoles could be, I prefer the current, large, flatscreen kind. LOL.

maybe so for the TV change but there's nothing like those old ones in another certain type of way bro and yeah you're right the vertical hold horizontal hold woodwork sometimes most of the time fuzzy picture not great sound and a half the time when it was bad weather no TV still running for anything

The picture quality reminded me of being at my Grandmothers house and yelling out of the window at my brother to adjust the antenna... "turn it to the left, that's too far, back to the right, okay.. you had it, now it's gone".

Oh gosh, me and my sister did the same thing when we were children. We got 3 channels and if it wasn't rainy we got 4 channels. Lol. I would love to see kids today having only 3 or 4 channels. My son complains all of the time that there isn't anything on tv. We get 250 channels and there's nothing on. Lol

Yeah I remember the good old rabbit ears taking forever to adjust them to get a good picture by then the show was about over. Days kids couldn't handle that if you had to do that. And we didn't have a remote control we had to get up and change the channel it was a dial

Seeing them in all their glory WITH the commercials that were broadcasted with them? Now that is truly a awesome Retro Experience! Again THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! You've rekindled some wonderful childhood memories! It was truly amazing!

Must've been bad weather in Chicago on March 2, 1976. (This adds to the authenticity of the view because often this is what watching TV was like before cable.)

I would give anything to go back and watch the original Tuesday night ABC lineup at Happy days Laverne and Shirley three's company too close for comfort and Vegas with Robert urich with all those original commercials I remember wrapping aluminum foil around my rabbit ears and having trouble with channels two and four I usually got 7 5 9 and 11 the best and 13 cuz I lived in New Jersey and w o r and WPIX and channel 5 Fox and third team are all in the tri-state area New York and New Jersey I guess 7 4 and 2 had stations in New York but for some reason we got seven the best and I don't know why I give anything to watch that original lineup at all the original commercials just so magical just something about it just makes me want to tingle all over and just feel so good and I don't know what it is because of course the picture was much worse sometimes the sound and when there was bad weather at least half the time TV was out but I'll still taking it anytime over today

I love these original broadcasts

I love the half second of silence between commercials. Not even YT will do that anymore. Love these. From a better time in the world and all narrated by Ernie Anderson.

This is exactly how I remember it ...messed up tv and all 😂. Happy days was a really freaking good show!

that's right that's just how I remember it man fuzzy picture messed up sound picture going up and down left to right still want to give anything to go back to those times I don't know what made it so magical all those things I guess even though they were way worse than today especially with TV technology and cable still wouldn't give it up for anything even the food especially the snacks all those ingredients that they took out Dr pepper devil dogs candy bars

Very educational. I learned that diarrhea is not much fun in weather like this.

I was born in 1976 so I never saw this when it was originally on. I love seeing the old commercials that aired when I was just a baby.

I had to put some tin foil on the rabbit ear antennas, for better reception!!! Great Video, Thank you!

Way to make someone else's wedding all about yourself, Fonz! And then Laverne & Shirley, my first favorite sitcom. Penny (rest in peace) and Cindy played off each other so well, even when the material was sometimes beneath them. I so enjoy these with the commercials included - thank you!

I miss these days, I was 10 years old when this aired and I remember watching these two particular episodes of Happy Day's and Laverne and Shirley before bed on a school night. Thank you for the memories ❤️

oh yeah me too although sometimes I would sneak a peek from my bedroom and creep into the kitchen we kept on 19-in philco black and white TV to watch some of the three's company after I was sent to bed after Happy days in Laverne and Shirley I'd sneak into the kitchen say I had to use the bathroom or I needed a drink of water and watch some of three's company they're too close for comfort sometimes even as late as 10:00 p.m. for Vegas but Robert urich as Dan Tana

Every Tuesday night at 7:00!! We used to have girls night at the school on Tuesdays I used to tell my mother I don't want to go why don't you want to go because happy days is on?? She would just laugh and be like okay she don't want to go don't come get her!!💯🤣

Sad that Laverne & Shirley never won an Emmy... Thought it was just a good as Happy Days.

Watching these shows on Channel 7 in Chicago on 4705 South Evans. The early signs of "Must See TV".

Man, do this bring back memories. I was in high school, when happy days, came out. My parents being children of the 50s, enjoyed the show also. I can remember talking about the show at school each week. Thanks for the memories.

oh yeah I remember talking about it at school the next day every week each season it was on until Richie and Ralph left the show and then I wasn't too crazy about it anymore but I still watched and Laverne and Shirley when they moved to California

oh yeah man I remember too Tuesday night look forward to it all the time once it got to be five to eight I was in place right in front of the TV no more than 5 ft away had a black and white 19 inch philco no remote control my hand was the remote control had all my snacks snicker bars Dr pepper and devil dogs and the fans and at 8:30 Laverne and Shirley 9:00 three's company 9:30 was too close for comfort and they may have switched it to Barney Miller at one time and at 10:00 Vegas was Robert urich I'm in heaven just thinking about it man and I don't know why I give anything to go back sometimes the TV picture was not clear the sound was not good in bad weather you lost a lot of the time or at least half the time but it was so much better and not because I was younger either just something about it I can't put my finger on it I guess that's what it is Debbie just can't put our finger on it whatever it was it about it that would have made it so much greater

LOL! I laugh at that Pepto Bismol commercial! If I felt that lousy and had the shits I would've stayed home

I absolutely love it when they include the actual commercials that played during the original broadcasts. It really makes it extra special. Like a trip, albeit briefly, back in time. I was born in 1967 so the 70's were my childhood. So many of these commercials bring back memories lots of memories. The 🎄Christmas🎄episodes used to be the absolute best times. Back then Christmas was so much better, nicer, more exciting. The ambiance was so different. There was nothing better than those weeks of anticipation leading up to Christmas Day! 🎄🎁🎁 🎄 🏘🏠🏡🛤🛤🏢🏢🏣⛲🏢🏥💒🏘🏘🏘🏠🏡🚏🚍🎄🎅🤶🧑‍🎄 🎄🎁🏉🧸🎱🎄🧢⚾️🎁🎄🎁🏒🥅⛸🎿🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🛷🎅 Sorry but there's no comparison between the 1970's and today. Oh, back in 76 I had a Happy Days lunch box! I sure miss those days!

RIP Tom Bosley, Erin Moran, Pat Morita, Al Molinaro, and Penny Marshall, they will live forever in our hearts and on our TV screens. Also, is the music in the Happy Days and Laverne and Shriley original broadcast? It's interesting how in later reruns in syndication they replace original music with generic stuff for copyright reasons. I haven't seen this episode in some time, so I can't remember if it's what we hear in reruns. Also, LOL that the news scroll at 38:13 says "Repeating" just as Carmine is repeating "Sal Molina" over the phone. XD

Re: the opening music. I'm pretty sure when it came time for syndication, they shortened both drastically to get another few seconds so they could squeeze in another commercial.

This brings back so many sweet childhood memories. It was also a time when you could actually watch a TV show with more of the actual show instead of commercials. Now a days there's more commercials than tv show

This was back when abc was AWESOME during the 2nd half of the 70's Happy Days & Laverne & Shirley became 2 of Paramount's Biggest Cash Cows for abc and both shows were 1-2 Punch in the ratings during the 75/76 Season Paramount would later have a #1 comedy years later in the 90's with Cheers during the 90/91 season

Laverne & Shirley was number one two years in a row happy days is number one one year although I thought it should have been the other way around

I was 8 years old when I saw these 2 episodes (Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley). My dad was still alive back then. I remember watching this.

I love how everyone keeps mentioning the picture going up and down. I guess they never heard of a VCR plus television reception wasn’t great in the past.

I would like everyone to notice the number of commercials during each break as compared to those of today. Back then, a 30 minute television show was about 26 minutes plus commercials. Today, a 30 minute television show is about 20 minutes plus commercials.

I remember the bumpers they used to use before commercials that you don’t see anymore. “Stay tuned for more Happy Days.” This was in the famous Weezer video where they are in the Happy Days set.

Interesting. While Pat Morita was still playing Arnold, Al Molinaro was already in the "Happy Days" universe. I thought he was playing Father DelVecchio until I saw the end credits.

I have 2 laugh, the opening of LaVerne & Shirley where they're both on the tow motor forks. In reality, you cannot due that because of safety concerns and OSHA restrictions

The voiceover for the Jell-O pudding commercial was John Bartholomew Tucker, and the Chevy commercial spokesman was the late Dan Ingram.. He did a lot of Chevy commercials in the 1970s.

Garry Marshalls shows were pretty sloppy, editorial wise...lack of coverage and ADR. Unusual network glitches!

I always liked Laverne & Shirley, but as far as romance and love goes, Shirley lived in a fantasy world. She had her mind in fairy tales. Not everyone who falls in love hears music or bells, or has sweaty palms.My husband and I are still madly in love with each other, and we got married at age 19 during 1980, and still are happily married. I heard no bells or music to indicate I was in love, and I didn't have sweaty palms, either. Everyone feels love differently. Shirley thinks everyone should feel love as she would. All she wanted was a doctor so she'd have money to spend.

Why did the episode of Laverne and Shirley have the opening titles for the syndicated version (that included their last names, Defazio and Feeney)

This was season 1. Season 1 was the only season that their first and last names were displayed.

Laverne's boyfriend's name sounds like flour that is used to make pasta

Actually it’s network issues - this is the way it looked when broadcast - has nothing to do with the condition of the tape recording this.
