They were young, beautiful, talented, sang in English. On top of that, the songs were a killer. Beautifully crafted by those men, beautifully sung by the girls. The killer harmonies. All in one package! No wonder why they succeded.

"Ring, Ring" was a Hit in Belgium in the summer of 1973. I became a Fan and I still am.

So many cool details in this video: Anni-Frid's amazing snakeskin outfit with matching platform boots is insane, Bjorn is playing the legendary "star" guitar, and wearing a cape (!) and most likely there is Ola Brunkert on the drums and Rutger Gunnarsson on bass. Benny always looks like he's having too much fun, and does his costume include some monstrous feather? And Agnetha's mirrored outfit with little red flares over her boots is totally 1970s. This whole video is so over-the-top it's perfect!

ABBA, the greatest band in the history of bands. Every one of their songs stirred and stirs the emotions, and it doesn't matter if you speak the language or not, the listener knows the gist of the song...simply watch the girls and you know what the song is all about. ABBA , through the years, proved to be something special, aside from their ingenious musical brilliance. The reason I see ABBA as extra special is because, despite their traumatic love life, each of the four loved the other three...and I believe that love holds true to this day, 2021.

Her 70s and 80s is when she rocked but don't get me wrong,she's one of the most talented artist going. Agnetha blows her away with her amazing range. Not the writer as Stevie is. I love ABBA,love Mac so I won't say one is better than the other, just completely different styles.

What a marvellous group. Abba has got to be the best Swedish pop group of all times. I am 68 and find I love dancing around the house just listening to this music. They are all so full of life . My happy handsome husband and I live in Melbourne, Victoria Australia and I remember buying tapes when I was in my twenties.

Abbas early songs are a tonic in this day and age. They really lift my spirits when either I just listen or sing along. Love their early stuff. Just brilliant.

Simon, in July 2018 Rolling Stone reported that worldwide, ABBA is the #7 selling act. They have not released an album since 1979 nor performed on a stage of any kind together (concert, TV show, etc) since 1982. Their sales have been increasing over the past 15 years. Mostly outside the USA, attributed to increases in sales in Europe AND ASIA AND AFRICA. So, ABBA is one of the world's top selling acts. In 2017 they sold the equivalent of 15 million albums................this year that number is expected to be higher. Their lowest point for sales after their breakup (after 1982) was in the 1990's but then sales began to pick up when ABBA: GOLD was released. Then came Mama Mia the play, the movies, etc................which caused the beginning of the sales increase upward trend that began almost 15 years ago. This is incredible, and when you compare to the Beatles, ABBA did all this in 10 years, it makes it even more incredible. ABBA just passed Michael Jackson in worldwide all time sales in 2017..............they also passed Elvis...............now they are only behind the Beatles in sales...............ABBA is the #2 best selling musical act of all time.....................for right now. I think they will conquer #1 in a few years. I think ABBA will TOP the Beatles. Ive been to Kathmandu, Nairobi, Kingston, Buenos Aires, Zagreb, Berlin, Moscow, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Riyadh. You know what they all have in common? Every one of those cities, they love ABBA. They love ABBA in countries that are not even christian nations.

These were not just pop songs; they were so much more sophisticated than that. I wonder whether people really appreciate how actually classically savvy these musical compositions were. I therefore had trouble understanding your response when you mentioned chords and bass. However, I do have a very perceptive ear to what sounds good, average, bad, or... .... brilliant . Abba's musical arrangements were definitely in another class when compared to general so called "pop music ". This Swedish group were very very good. I had no idea at all who Miles Davis was, or is, however because you mentioned him, I looked for his name on KZread hoping to find a video of him and his music. He sounds like a jazz player, please correct me if I'm wrong. I must admit I quite liked what I heard.

You also have to acknowledge that the band was supported by some incredible "behind the scenes" support. Michael B. Tretow was an incredible Sound Engineer and Producer. The bands studio musicians including Roger Palm and Ola Brunkert (Drums), Rutger Gunnerson ( Bass), Janne Schaffer and Lasse Wallender were simply brilliant and contributed greatly to the ABBA sound. And the band's manager Stig Andersson was also a great positive influence.

I know nothing about music, nor for the most part could I even name and identify most musical instrument. I just remember thinking how such sophisticated sounds can come from just 2 instruments, Bjorn on guitar, and Benny on piano or organ. You could hear so many different sounds, and so well arranged, I wondered if there were others involved "behind the scenes" as you put it , that we never saw performing with Abba on our Television sets. So many people, family, friends, have said no, no, it was just the four of them. Well, when I would listen to the music itself without the lyrics there was no way that was all coming from just two instruments. Thank you again I appreciated your response very very much. Good to see Fredrik 'the fifth ABBA' on guitar there.

IMO this song doesn't get the credit it deserves. I know it's nowhere near as sophisticated as their later songs, but it does have that bright, ringing harmony that Agnetha and Anni-Frid brought to every ABBA song.

I have always been a Fridafan, but I have to say Agetha really was the standout beauty in this one.

Agnetha definitely awakened something in me in this video. Lol. She's so beautiful.

I am so Grateful that ABBA spent the time to write all their biggest songs in English. And put the lyrics together to make sense to an English speaking audience. It couldn't have been easy to work out how to write lyrics that made sense to what is, a largely foreign audience, especially when English is not your first language. I think we can easily forget that when we listen to their songs. Bravo ABBA, och 'Tack för Musiken' 🇬🇧 ❤ 🇸🇪

@@duconducon2 Lol. I've never heard of a straight man being" annoyed" by either of the girls of ABBA.

One of my very favorite ABBA songs, along with "Super Trouper", "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and "The Day Before You Came".

I didn't give too much attention to this song before, so I'm reading their biography and found out it was one of their first hits. Now I'm addicted to this song! It was very successful in Australia at the time, they sent the video there because it was too far away and they couldn't go there often. Abba has been successful until now, but it was not simple, they worked a lot!!!
