Abandoned Zoo in the Arizona Desert - Two Guns, Part 3

November 26th, 2022: This might be the first time I’ve walked through a zoo in ruins. Harry Miller’s zoo was established nearly a century ago and still whispers the story of a fanatical man and his wild exploits.

04:13 - 'This little bridge' is where the original alignment of Route 66 (National Old Trails Highway') crossed Canyon Diablo.

I really enjoyed each of your Two Guns videos. Such interesting history! And they prompted me to do some investigating as well. According to the Arizona DOT, the man Harry Miller killed was Earle Cundiff, who, together with his wife Louise, leased land to Miller in 1925. Spoiler alert: This land later become recognized as the town of Two Guns! Miller apparently named the town himself, citing the namesake as silent actor William “Two Gun Bill” Surrey Hart, with whom Miller claimed to have had a professional relationship. Anyway, after her husband was fatally shot, Louise Cundiff maintained several businesses on her own in the town, including a gas station that thrived until it caught fire in 1971. Interestingly, I think this may have been the same service station you visited in your first Two Guns video. Love the lore of Two Guns.

Wow, thanks Natasha. Such a great story, isn't it! There are so many mysteries here. The demise of this place is extra intriguing because the businesses didn't necessarily die after I-40 replaced Route 66. Rather, it seems like every part of this town died a different way... It's quite interesting. Thank you for your comment!

Usually it depends on which zoo you’re talking about. There are good zoo actually do their effort on trying to teach the general population about wildlife, contribute to conservations of wildlife and generally try to study the animals that they have in captivity then you have those zoo that just simply treat the animals poorly. like I said, it depends on which zoo you’re thinking of.
