It looks like an old Sohio Car Wash. Coshocton, Ohio had one that also had gas pumps. I think it stayed opened long into the BP era. The ground that the Coshocton car wash was on is now additional parking for the local library in Coshocton, Ohio..

Yeah SOHIO for sure I'd say

I think its a left over gas station carwash,, the old lights from the gas station are still there,, I suspect its closed for the winter

Then again that font and sign styles were mainly popular in the late 60s through 70s. Look around , especially in old Cleveland areas lots of remnants of old gas stations and stores and restaurants

Sohio. They was around years ago and I worked at one. Yes it's been years. Sohio gas stations were bought out by BP gas. Yes that's an old Sohio gas station what a relic and great find!

What city and state is, this at? I need to check it out as well. I sure remember these as like it were yesterday. I worked at Sohio back in the 80's and we still did full service at the pump like the windows check the oil and other fluids. Also replaced wiper blades and has caps and we sold all kinds of auto stuff like a little auto parts store with some pop chips, candy and beer and also we had a car wash and also a full service mechanics bay in the shop. You could get your cars worked on at Sohio back in the day! Middle 80's. Sad to see it all gone, kids today would not understand how gas stations used to really be like before people began pumping their own fuel.

Guys, my uncle owned a family owned Sohio! I thought they were all turned into BPs or tore down! Especially the car wash

That lettering sure does look like Kmart-style lettering - compare it to the 'Garden Shop' lettering seen in some of the other Kmart videos. I wouldn't be surprised if Kmart decided to experiment with running a car wash, and it didn't work out too well, so they dropped the idea. (I couldn't find anything on Wikipedia about Kmart ever having car washes, so it is a mystery.)

The Pekin, IL Kmart at one time had a indoor lumber yard. Years before Lowes and Menards came along.

PS that was converted to a green labeled Kmart which seems to have been a local test after Kmart took over Venture. It also closed long before others in the area did.

I'd agree with you guys, especially about that old sign, maybe there was a Kmart around there and was torn down

Definitely a former Sohio car wash.

We had a K Mart carwash here in Peoria IL until 1998.

I just commented to someone about the Peoria /Pekin area had the green labelled Kmart's also. My Mom worked for Kmart in Canton until 2004, so if we shopped in Peoria is was at a list of other defunct stores, PharMor, Venture, Handy Andy's. Also commented how the Pekin Kmart had a indoor lumber yard years before Lowes and Mendards came along.

If it is abandoned I wonder if those vacuums still have quarters or tokens that was left in them.

Hey Nate!!! I saw this earlier and wasn’t sure of your guesstions so I called my dad who still lives in Elyria, I moved years ago. I refer to him as a wise old owl lol!!! Anyways I got the scoop. It closed years ago, I cannot explain the calendar dated to 2018 but it went out of business in either the late 90s or 2000. Maybe somebody did try to make it a new. And it didn’t have anything to do with K mart. The vacant lot next to it used to be an L&k restaurant. I remember going to L&K as a kid but didn’t know where it was (I was only 7) Over where the Marc’s is now that was a Gold Cirle department store in the 70s and 80s, went out of business in 1988. In the earily 90s they made it into a K Mart, In 92 they built the Wal Mart across the street (which is now closed because there’s a super center on route 57 built around 07 or 08) The Kmart lost business and eventually closed and now it’s a Marc’s.

That sign post looks like an old Shell logo post or even an old union 76 gas station.

Whom. Id love to see wash equipment. Id look at the electric meter thats on the side, as it looks like a fairly new digital one. If it has digits flashing on the lcd display, then there is power, but many owners will keep power active even on an abandoned building. Even the gas meter in the front looked fairly new like it was replaced not too long ago. May be a seasonal wash

I think it was a old Marathon gas station with a car wash. just one exit back from this location is a marathon gas station with a sign that looks the same that can be see from the highway.

That was the old Sohio Car wash. It is closed for winter.... Might reopen... Too many car wash places popping up. They hand dry the cars there.

Its not on Kmarts property though. Like with Tops, they have a Tops gas station, But its always right in front of the Tops store. The Sears auto center, Its always connected to Sears not down the rode. Thats why I'm thinking its not a K wash altho it would be really cool if it was

A good indicator is the power meter. You went by it to fast with your camera. Looked like meter is pulled if that is the case it is likely done.

I work at a car wash for a living for now I’m in school to be a teacher however I can tell you from past experiences at my job that it probably is in use and either the owner doesn’t care or it’s about to be remodeled

not really, at least in the immediate area, but the whole place was full of shopping centers

The lettering on the car wash does have about that same look as the Kmart garden shop sign lettering, I think there be some differences in the lower case letter a between both signs, the a on the car wash has that upward curve above the circle and the garden shop a would be an different style, like as we draw on paper with no upward curve. not sure if those typefaces be different even though they look striking similar.

This was a former Sohio car wash. Their car washes used that type of lettering prior to BP taking over. The dual sign poles once had a Sohio sign. Hello, Nate. This is a very interesting video. I would say that car wash is abandoned. There is no owner's name of the car wash on the signs or on the building. The parking lot pavement is all messed up. A window has been broken. The cash register looks obsolete. There appears to be no power in the building. And there are chains or ropes blocking part of the area around the building. It would probably take several thousand dollars to bring the car wash back to full operation assuming the car wash machinery is not already too messed up to operate.
