Abandoned Six Flags New Orleans Tour

Фильм және анимация

Six Flags New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
It has been abandoned ever since.
This film was made in October 2010 by Teddy Smith.
Filmed with the Canon 5D Mark II and L primes.
The park is located in Eastern New Orleans, off Interstate 10. Despite various announced plans to redevelop the site, as of June 2015, it is still an abandoned amusement park in extremely poor condition. The site is a well-known urban exploration destination.

This is still the best video of this place. I went here multiple times in October 2010 when this video was made. We slept in the Opera House and had a fire in the fountain in front of it where we cooked steak. The gators watched us intently every time we were anywhere near the lagoon. I'm surprised they didn't film the warehouse filled with toys. Anyways I feel lucky that I was able to see it before vandals completely ruined it.

Man, there are so many memories in this park. I remember we would go there every weekend during the summer because we had passes. I can even remember the time before it was "six flags" and when it was "jazzland".... I rode my first roller coaster there...... Damn this is depressing.

It was submerged in 8-10 feet of water for over a month after Hurricane Katrina passed through. They might not look damaged, but most of the rides' internal framework was destroyed by the floodwater. I think only one ride was removed, a Batman themed coaster, and re-located. The park has not been demolished as of yet, but was used for the set of a Percy Jackson film last year. I read that they were able to get several of the rides temporarily operational for the filming.

I remember the park even before it was Six Flags, it was Jazzland. I remember going there on the last day of school every year with all my friends, I have pictures on the swing ride, I remember winning an NSYNC CD in the arcade, and I remember getting stuck on the log ride for two hours haha. Abandoned theme parks creep me out soooo much... But I'm obsessed with looking at pictures of them to see how creepy they look.........

I have always been a fan of amusement parks. I help score films with my brother and am looking forward to the day when we can set some music to visuals of deserted parks. Good posting. - Nice quality of light in your film.

This would have worked really well with Dead Flag Blues from the same album too, if not for the name of the song, for the apocalyptic dialogue. Awesome video. Edit: I just tried watching this with Dead Flag Blues in the background and it syncs up perfectly. The last few cuts with the credits and fade to black happened right when the first movement of the song ends and the narrator closes it out with "we woke up up one morning, and fell a little further down. for sure it's the valley of death. I open up my wallet, and it's full of blood."
