Having grown up in Fall River, MA, I have been very interested in the local history here. I just learned from this video about the remains of the steamer Mount Hope still in existence. Almost every book written about the Fall River Line mentions the Mount Hope, and how much it was loved by the locals. Thank you for teaching me something new. 😊

Nice, been waiting for another video, so happy to see this one!! I have always wondered what those old structures were. I had always assumed that they were docks, but wondered why some were in the middle of the water and not attached to anything. I had no idea that they were mainly shipwrecks! I can't wait to see what you do next!!

Fascinating history! I’ve actually come across those ruins while walking in that park before, but I always assumed they were just old docks or piers… crazy to think that they were shipwrecks, and one of many! Dope video!

OMG Mr Jason i had no idea that area was a graveyard for shipwrecks I've been by that area a zillion times never knew there was sunken ships there i thought they were old rotten piers WOW that is mind blowing .. Great video Jason. Have you ever heard of a steamship named The Larchmont that sank off the coast of Block Island in February of 1907? Dan Harrington a Providence Journal staff writer gives talks on it. Saw his presentation this past Tuesday at the Johnston library. Fascinating story!

Great video! Loved it and subbed! One small insignificant point: these aren’t shipwrecks. They didn’t run aground and wreck themselves on a foggy night when the captain & mate were both drunk. In maritime parlance they’re called derelicts because they were abandoned to rot.

There is, indeed, something extra creepy about shipwrecks. You should document the barge on Green island next. ( before it - and the island disappear).

I'd seen these wrecks since childhood and always wondered what page they occupied in our history books. Very informative as always.

in bellingham mass, off 126 going to mendon there is a factory deep in the woods hidden on box pond...please do a piece on that place, entrance is on same side as a old bar called petes blue bird...right after bar you see hidden road.

Amazing! I plan on exploring that area in my little boat this summer. I’ll look out so I don’t become another shipwreck.

During WWll my grandfather was the vessels navigator, steaming some 18 time circumnavigation around the world. The Atlantic by summer and Pacific by winter.

Great job, I run the marina there in Providence. We have a tour boat company or 2 there that bring tours by there. Nice dig at the 195 debacle too haha. Theirs a couple sunk boats near there too.

I never knew about this, My girlfriend and I went to a Primus concert next to those shipwrecks in 2018 😎

German UBoat 853 is a good shipwreck in RI as well. It still has the remains of some Nazi soldiers in it. It's deep but diveable.

I covered that wreck in one of the videos on my channel - it was sunk during the last naval battle of WWII, The Battle of Point Judith. Incredible how much history is around here.

Every time driving by I always thought that was wood that has been dumped into the bay!

I live near the big gas tank by the freeway in Dorchester. All through the harbor and into the Neponset river is full of rotting piles sticking up through the water. I don't think anybody around here now remembers what it used to be. Not too far from Providence. Probably no shipwrecks though.

If someone who lives in that area I often wondered if fishing is good along the shore in that region? Do you know of any hot spots?

I have a pretty interesting abandoned mall in Massachusetts that you might be interested in! There's really no information on it.

I live in Fall River, grew up in Assonet, and either have been to some of these sites, or plan to go to them because of your channel. Thanks for opening up history on all the old places that are currently aging away to dust.

I’ve been to most, if not all, of the places you’ve covered, and it’s awesome. Taking my daughter for picnics at India Point Park and talking to her about the shipwrecks is a great memory. Keep up the good work.

It was nice to see the 195 bridge open and working back when you recorded this. Great video as always.

The video displays some great editing but has limited information. This could have been a 5 minute video.

AN HONEST REVIEW: You know, at first I really liked your videos, and cheered on your channel. At this point I'm calling you out on your bullshit clickbait that's been popping up the past year or so. I continually think you've found some amazing overlooked abandoned structure in Rhode Island, only for it to be something the local public, let alone explorers, already knows about. This time I had the feeling what it was since there's no riverboats like in your thumbnail IN RI. Also for a lack of watching this one all the way through, and a more modern and compelling shipwreck in the same area: There was a Russian Nuclear Submarine museum that used to be docked just outside the hurricane barrier. It sunk in 30 - 60ft of water. during a tropical storm that hit us in mid 2000's. So there was a sunken Russian nuclear sub for a time right outside the Hurricane Barrier in Providence. It was later scrapped and for several years you could still see half of its hull and a scrapyard south of the strip club district on google maps. There are plenty of amazing things to still discover in RI, New England, and the World. I advise you to stop doing what's temporarily sensational on the internet and to get out there and do the fucking work as an Explorer.

Hey - just keep in mind that not everything in my thumbnails should be a literal sign of what's featured in my videos - I treat them as movie posters to engage people and get them interested in the history. They are followed by thorough research in my videos that take me months to prepare and present. If people already know about the topic, great, maybe they can learn more or teach me something new. The steamboat in this thumbnail is a recreation that I made of the Mount Hope Steamship, which does exist at the bottom of Green Jacket Shoal. Its history is covered in this video. My thumbnail is a representation of what it would look like if it hadn't sunk, and was still floating in the river. I'm doing what I find interesting and fun - which is documenting the little-known or underappreciated history around us, collaborating with artists and historians, and showcasing what makes Rhode Island special. That takes a lot of work. Thanks for your honest review, though.

What I initially thought your channel prioritized and what you actually value in output are different and that's okay, it's a small deviation in two greatly overlapping topics. You're doing what makes you happy and that's a good thing for the world. I have reached out a few times via email in the past, I am sad that our first actual exchanged words are off a critical comment of mine, especially knowing that you have featured me in a video in the past. My gripes are more targeted at the broader spectrum of being disappointed in modern societal norms and values rather than an attack on your individual character. This is not something that can be fixed by me leaving comments on a KZread video. I will always support those who explore and keep truth in the tales they relay to the public.

You should not be calling boats and ships her. It is an in inantimate object. It’s not a human being. It cannot talk back so I don’t know why you’re calling her, but you should call it in it or the boat.
