I'm Portuguese and I tried to translate the letter in the Chest for you. The letter is very difficult to understand because it's old Writing, but here's what I've figured out: "M.B I give this sheets with open sheath and monogram |M| with lace(?) pillows. They served in the night of my parents marriage and 1 of them covered my António Maria the little time he was in his bed after the disaster. " Hope I kill the curiosity!

As always. I greatly appreciate the love and respect you young men show toward the places you visit, the history, and the former occupants. I'm glad, Leslie, that you have started wearing gloves while investigating. It really is much safer for you, and for the things you touch. You mentioned the number of beds and bedrooms in this beautiful home. The fact that the family who lived there was a large one, I suspect some of the rooms were occupied by servants, i.e. maids, cook, nanny/nurse. Thank you both for the marvelous work you do. You take me places I could otherwise never see. Blessings to you!

My guess is the downstairs bedrooms were for servants and younger children. The upstairs bedrooms were much more "elite" and stylish so I would think they would be for the owners and the owners older children.

That was a very kind way to behave, thanks for being a light in the political darkness. The way the countries became countries can be hard for all of us to face, history is so brutal and violent. Thank you for realizing that it happened so long in the past all those people are long dead. What is important is trying to get along and be good to each other now. How can there be a future if all we ever see is the past. History is facinating, and important to remember, but we can't hold history over the heads of those living in the present.

These homes like these you can get more of a feeling for them if you go on Hulu and watch "Pride and Prejudice" "Emma" "Bleak House" and "War and Peace" ect. You see the fancy homes that fancy drawn carriages pulling up out front, the drawing rooms, sitting rooms, smoking room for the men, dance hall. You see the distinction between the poor or middle class people and the aristocrats. Also how some home were loss to the Germans and they would come in and take over ones home in war time. I really enjoyed seeing this house. Thank you.

The architecture in this place is amazing! I love the way you’re so respectful to the people that lived there before, and never destroyed anything while you’re in there all your attempts to get in. You guys are definitely the best I’ve seen at this. People that leave photos behind make me crazy. If I find photos in any abandon place, I do the research on the house in the family & mail the valuables to them with no return address. Thank you guys as always for sharing your finds. Take good care of yourselves & be careful. Much love to you both❣️. This place feels like home to me. ✨

In the states: the table top piece with small antique mirror on a stand with little drawer is reffered to as a 'mustache' mirror. The 'coat rack' that usually stands in a entry way is reffered to as a hall tree. The holes on either side of the mirror usually had a bowl of some sorts at the bottom. That's the umbrella holder and the bowl collects the water from the wet umbrella.

What an amazing place...filled with stories and the comfortable things of daily life. Beautifully done, as usual for you. The type of piano is called an upright piano, grand pianos take up a lot of floor space, so uprights became popular for homes. Having a big enough home to have its own chapel was a serious status symbol, it meant the wealthy could have services without going to the cathedral with everything else. Great woodcarving on the chapel. Some of those attic bedrooms were very likely live in staff.🖤🇨🇦

It's evident that not only did someone play the game, but they also trashed the place & had a party. It could've been not too long after it became empty, either way it a shame & should be a crime to do this. It prevents us from actually seeing how it was left. Shame on anyone that does these things. God sees ALL!!! Thanks Leslie & Jordy. 💜🙋‍♀️🇺🇸

As your shirt said, beautiful. All of the furniture, especially in the bedrooms was lovely. I can’t believe the ceilings. WAUW! 😉. Until you got to that last room I was thinking that there were no toys left. Sigh. That always makes me so sad. Yes it’s intriguing to think of what happened to the rest of the family. Great video thank you for taking us with you. Safe travels and stay away from corona and wash your hands a lot and use disinfectant with a high alcohol content☺️

Thank you again for a wonderful tour. So sad - really wonder with such a big family that no one tried to save pictures, take antiques, etc. Maybe still in fear from why had to leave? Love how you play Oh Holy Night in background - seems so appropriate. Be safe.

Hi Lesley and Jordy, Bros of Decay, Although there were some traces of vandalism and trashing visible, I loved watching you showing this huge mansion. - Some rooms still look very grand and have a special atmosphere. - The room with the piano is especially beautiful. Thank you so much for taking us viewers to places as interesting and beautiful as this one. - It is always a great pleasure watching you, when you present a location like this one. - Only with the sound there was a problem, because I could hardly understand your narration. - I am looking forward to your next adventures and wish you both and Danny all the best. - Peace and lots of blessings. Stay safe and take care. Kindest regards from Switzerland.

Hi..Leslie, and Jordy, I have been watching your documentary videos of different abandoned mansions, and houses were some of them were built during the medieval period like the castles in Italy. PROS: Your videos are all great! I can't believe you two brothers have the teamwork together. CONS: I noticed your music background is CHRISTMAS???? SILENT NIGHT! O come let us adore HIM! hello....... Christmas is over. Summer is here now.

The upstairs toy with the folding back was a doll pull toy, very cool. Some of the top floor rooms were for staff possible to help mom with all the little ones. Did they loose the house when he died? She must have struggled to make ends meet. The furniture and architecture are beautiful and thanks for your respect of all the things you see. The trumpet looking thing is a hand Brest pump, she seems to have been constantly pregnant as a Catholic they were supposed to not use any form of birth control. Be Safe!
