Welcome to the Twin Cities, my home sweet home for 30 years now.
Just so you know Jacob everyone needs a day off, I feel like your a very good friend! So please don’t hurt yourself just let us know you’re going to do it, so I don’t worry about you! I’m sure everyone else will agree!! You are a very special person! Your one of only 4 or 5 channels I watch daily 😊😊😊
The more i follow Jacob journey, the more knowledge i get ♥️
I live in Minnesota. Love love it here. I have been across that bridge more than once. My sister-in-law who lives in the cities area was on that bridge moments before it collapsed. Very sad what happened. Love your channel. Never miss a video. I look forward to them everyday.
The now defunct revolving restaurant needs to be refurbished n used again!!! It is STILL in good shape n the colours, carpeting n views are AWESOME 👍!!! GREAT video again on Day #2 of the Great Mississippi River Road Trip!!! VERY entertaining!!! Attaboy, Carpetbagger!!
Lots of people from Minneapolis or Minnesota in the comments, but no one answered the “A city that needs help.” Being a GenXer from Minneapolis and owning a house in South Minneapolis a couple of blocks west of the Mississippi, I can accurately report that we are a shell of our former self. Lots of government corruption and crime. Usually carpetbaggers stick around, run for office and make mess. It’s still my home and I love it, just want to make it better. Thanks so much for showing some off some of the fun stuff here.
I live and love Minnesota but don't make enough videos here. I think I take my State for granted 😊Thanks for reminding me what a great place it is to Explore.... FYI the building is the 1st National Bank building and the tallest building in St. Paul up until 1986...built around 1930.... ❤
Jacob, I was on the silver Bridge in Point Pleasant about 5 hours before it collapsed. I was only 9 months old at the time. My dad worked near by. He was one of the first few people to the site. He helped get someone out of the water. He said it sounded like a bomb going off when it fell. He and his co-workers ran outside to see what the noise was and one of them noticed the Bridge was gone.
Giant bunny made me uneasy, lol.
The dam you were looking at is actually St. Anthony Falls, the only natural waterfall on the entire Mississippi river, and the reason so many mills were built in that area. They would use the waterfall to help power the mills. Part of the falls collapsed at one point, and the concrete you see now is how they stabilized the falls.
As a child, I LOVED 🥰 seeing the Pillsbury Dough Boy on television 📺! Such a cute commercial with that dough boy that walks and talks, then a human finger poked the Dough boy in the tummy, which caused the 🤭 giggle. Adorable.
My father worked at a flour mill in Fort Worth Burris Mills owned by Cargill now. In the 70's had a massive grain elevator explosion, a friend was killed. Milling is a dangerous job.
Those pieces of kitchen equipment are parts of a vegetable steamer basket which I just used the other day to steam brussel sprouts!!! AWESOME!!!
Long time viewer here and thank you for visiting our Citie(s). You covered things and places I think I take for granted and/or don't often appreciate about living here. You didn't just go to the Mall of America....and for that we thank you.

Haha I second that!
Seeing the memorial of the 35 bridge collapse reminded me that my husband just drove over that bridge before it collapsed he was a truck driver at the time so scarey I couldn't get ahold of him my mom seen it on the news ugj I thought he was gone . Thank you for showing my ol stomping grounds I know all of that areas shown . It's funny I used to explore those old flower mills and other buildings in mpls . I miss those days I'm living in wis now but pretty much grew up in MN twin cities area so much fun !!! Thanks again Jacob 😊🎉
Poppin’ Fresh in the streets. Pillsbury Dough Boy in the sheets.
🎵In two thousand twenty four we took a little trip. Along with Carpetbagger down the Mighty Mississip. On the Great River Road just to see what could be seen. And we'll follow the Carpetbagger all the way to New Orleans.🎵 AHEM... I apologize for that. Intrusive thoughts you know. Also, I loved malt o meal when I was a kid. Not so much anymore.

Sir thank you for putting out stuff everyday I am kind of homebound and everyday at 130 I really enjoy seeing you
Always the Pillsbury Doughboy to me. The commercials back in the day where they poked him in the belly and he giggled twice were cute! Love the Peanuts statues.
Minneapolis was formerly called St. Anthony (that now is a residential community northeast of Minneapolis). Anthony and Paul were the twins. St. Cloud and Anoka were significant cities you drove post. Malt is sprouted grain. It is easier to rise/ferment (diastatic ) than unmalted .
You can sail a boat all the way down the Mississippi. There are locks for boat access.
As a teenager I went to a convention in St Paul with my father and we ate at that rotating Carousel restaurant I remember that so vividly.
My preacher and his wife took a river cruise from Minnesota to New Orleans last year. They loved it but it was during the drought so some ports were not accessible. There are locks along the river the boats have to stop in and be dropped down to the lower level as well. Great video!
Quirkiest Twin Cities tour I've seen.
I love the shoe tree
When you get to Dubuque, Iowa, you should ride the Fenelon Place Elevator and go to the National Mississippi River Museum. You can also go to crystal lake cave. I’ve never done the cave, but it looks cool.
I'm from st paul so the mpls. Stuff is new to me. Thank you for the opportunity to see the other side of the river.
I'll be up there soon!! For the Oddity and curiosity expo on Saturday!!
Sad to see a cool rotating restaurant not in operation. Out with the old and in with the new. It was great they let you show it to us though.
May want to have a look at lark toys in Kellogg MN
Minnesota is a beautiful state and im excited for this road trip I follow your adventures every time you post and I am never disappointed keep up the great work and thank you for bringing joy to my household everyday
So much fun, your Crocs brightened up the tree 😊
It's fun to see people explore a place that you live. That "dam" is actually St. Anthony Falls. That's an interesting part of the mills which led to the destruction of the milling industry. The beige bridge is the Stone Arch Bridge I know you were concentrating on the River - but you could have spent days delving into the history of the two cities from Hiawatha to the Bakers and Alvin Karpis to Hubert H. Humphrey to Tiny Tim.
We used to go up under the 35W bridge. There were catwalks going across. Great view of the city about 200 feet above the river. When big trucks went across the bridge the whole thing would shake and bounce, especially the catwalks. We would hold on and tell each other that it was designed to do that. I’m not so sure now.
WOW! The museum is amazing. I love “Cream of Wheat”; my favorite out of all of the foods.
23:24 SHOE 👞 👟 TREES. As fun as it is to create and have a “shoe tree” I have heard that the weight of so many pairs of shoes eventually kills the tree. So now I have mixed reviews regarding the tossing of shoes onto healthy trees. 🌲 🌳
I love the local opinions of Minnesota
Hello Jacob 🙋🏽. I hope you are having fun ‼️ I wish I could travel like you do. Enjoy the rest of your day ‼️👋🏽 thank you for inviting me to watch your video ‼️
Schroeder saw how Lucy enjoyed pulling the football away from Charlie Brown, making Charlie Brown fall flat on his back. That’s why Schroeder doesn’t give Lucy the time of day.

Never thought about it that way, but you might be right about that.

My theory was that Lucy is needy and clingy and Schroeder can't stand that. I can sympathize.
I live in Minneapolis. Love it here . And I am a fan ❤of
I LOVE the giant rabbit 🐰 you found!!! He is better for his wear n tear!!! I REALLY enjoy his large peering eye n the pose his head is in!!! Too cool!!!
Just catching up on your videos, been a busy couple days. I love this road trip, great idea. I think we caught a glimpse of your dad in this one :) I love how close you are with your family, I haven't seen my parents in years, really must be a blessing to get to see them so much.
Your in my neck of the woods! You should visit treasure City in Royalton Minnesota it's kind of neat
Welcome to Minnesota. I live about 45 minutes north of the city! Born and raised - 61 years later still here in MN ❤️
I’ve been to The Mill City Museum, The Science Museum of Minnesota and The Minnesota History Center so many times, and They’re all so much Fun!❤️📺🎶👍🏻
Woodstock was Snoopy's main bird friend. The other little yellow birds had their own names; Bill, Harriet, Olivier, Raymond, Fred, Roy, Wilson and Conrad
Love your content❤️☺️ always supporting you I watch right away
The Charlie Brown n Snoopy Statue is TOTALLY AWESOME n then we see Sally n Linus over looking the road and onward to Lucy n Schroeder at his piano..How WONDERFUL to then run up on Marcy n Woodstock( tge full name of one bird) n Peppermint Patty kicking a football( though she was originally known for being a great baseball player as described by Charlie Brown!!!!)
Thank you for videos everyday 😊 It's so much fun
Visiting My Hometown again? Awesome!❤️📺🎶👍🏻
Morning Jacob 🤓 awesome adventure in St. Paul Minneapolis Thanks for sharing this. Have ur fun.📸✌️like this mill city museum your at, never heard of it.
I always thought Pop n Fresh was the term for the cinnamon rolls that came in the little cardboard tube and "popped" when you hit it against the counter to open it.
I'm absolutely loving this road trip!!! It gives me something to look forward to and I thank you.
Thanks. I really enjoy traveling with you .
Correction The mill had ended operation. Decades prior to and had fallen into disrepair. Shortly before becoming a museum one winters night. Homeless lit a fire in part of the abandoned building. Resulting in the ruins today A mill in the 1800s did catch fire and explode on or near this site. Elevator fires are still a hazard to this day.
I believe it’s the ONLY waterfall in the Mississippi and Minnesota has over half the bridges that cross the Mississippi. I photographed everyone of them!
Ugh... I really wanna meet you and Jenn one day ❤ i live in Minneapolis mn right off of Bloomington Ave and Franklin
THere are locks that raise/lowers for ships to get through the dams. =) Nice someone made it to my home state!
Poppin Fresh was also the original name of Baker's Square. It too was a restaurant chain that was started by Pillsbury
Love the twin city's thank you for explaining them
Enjoying this trip so much ❤
Thank you for being one of the first vloggers to really showcase my city in such a good way. We have our kitschiness, but we have a lot more to offer than hot dishes and cold weather. You’ve only scratched the surface, but you did a great job. I wish I’d known you were going to be doing this as a Mississippi River-themed series because I would have suggested you visit Raspberry Island, which is a tiny island with a bandshell right in the middle of the river. You could actually see it from the carousel restaurant.
Liking this new camera Jacob! it really takes great video!
In St Louis, drive down the Mural Mile, it's right beside the Mississippi, just south of the Arch.
The Mississippi is navigable as far north as the Falls of St Anthony, which you saw from the Mill City Museum. I haven't heard about the museum before but I'm definitely going to have to pay it a visit sometime when I get a chance to get down to Minneapolis (I live a few hours away). I also didn't know about the Charlie Brown statues and I'll have to get over there sometime too. I'm ashamed to admit it but I haven't even seen the state capitol building in person despite living in Minnesota for over a decade and living in the Twin Cities area itself for a few years when I first moved here. I'm not sure why KZread decided to recommend this video to me but I'm glad it did because it has introduced me to sights in the Cities I really want to check out. Thank you.
"A great city in need of help." It's true though.

What kind of help does it need exactly?
The building with "1st" on it is 1st national Bank building. You're in my neck-of-the-woods this video. I'm from Twin Cities, but I now live in St.Cloud. My heart will always be in the cities.
I always watch at night. It's nice way to relax before bed. Thank you
Fun fact . The Pillsbury company exist in Germany with the same mascot but it's called "Knack& Back" (crack &bake) because the dough is always in a can that you have to crack open 😆 I saw this little guy in your videos and it looked familiar so I had to Google it to confirm my confusion xD
My uncle was a hoodlum in the 1960s and he and his friends would slide down the concrete falls of St Anthony. You can actually boat the Mississippi its a lock and damn. Every city kid took that field trip in the 80s
Carpetbagger, Poppin Fresh could have been Famous forever. If Minneapolis would have allowed him in the Ghostbuster movie.
Great video CB!
The water feature outside the museum is the kinda sad remnant of the only natural major waterfall on the Mississippi River.

@@TheCarpetbagger Yes, too bad. The old paintings of St. Anthony Falls are beautiful. You were right in my North East Minneapolis neighborhood that day. Enjoy your trip down the river!
It’s always FUN to watch! I learn new things about the areas you visit. I guess an obvious one is a steamboat on the Mississippi River! Do you have time to stop at Leclaire, Iowa? American Pickers original shop. Right on the Mississippi…
Have a wonderful trip, jacob.
Love the road trips
My high school prom was at the Intercontinental hotel (formerly the Radisson). We had dinner at the LA Carousel. My neighbor was the head chef there!
Oh man, I was visiting friends there this weekend and was blocks away from Mill City Museum, wish we would've seen you!
Loving this trip! Your daily vlogs are really interesting and quirky. Thanks for taking the time to share your travels with us. Warm greetings from the UK.
Blocks from were I grew up, it's strange seeing that rabbit there as none of that stuff was there as a kid. The park was there, played alot of basketball, and foosball inside as a kid. Love the shirt dewd!👍 Might have to try scoring one myself.😊 Hope you enjoyed yourself down there.
Thank you my friend keep up amazing work.
Another great video, Jacob .Till the next one safe travels my friend and take care.
There is an outdoor art park that even has a spoon with a cherry on it in Minneapolis.
Poppin' Fresh has a whole family as well! You can see a bear in the display named Cupcake!
Yay, a new use for my old veggie steamer, making a giant animal.
Love your videos Jacob
This is an awesome series along the Mississippi
You drove right on by, Jacob! You could have stopped over for a good home cooked meal. Oh well. Maybe there will be a next time?
I like that they left part of the exploded mill and you can go view it. You had some gorgeous views. I liked when you recorded crossing the suspension bridge. Great video as always 😊
HOGZILLA! HOGZILLA! HOGZILLA! Where my Joe Bob fans at? Happy Travels, Jacob!
Great video very informative and beautiful views!
Was downtown in the fall. I was shocked how dead it was in the middle of the week. Place is in bad shape (not physically).
i’m just seeing this now too bad lol, i live in st. paul and my mom loves this channel
ANDALE TAQUERIA! Be sure to visit THE best mexican restaurant we’ve been to in the states. It is in the twin cities area. It was featured on Triple D.
I've been on that bridge! My sister lives in St Paul. Thanks for taking me inside the ruins. I didn't get to go the last time.
My cousin crossed that bridge moments before it collapsed. He said he heard a loud noise and saw it collapse in his rear view mirror.
just saw you in trempealeau wisconsin at the river stop bout 3:30 friday you then actually turned into my work, i assume to take a picture of the catfish. sorry did not say hi did not realize it was you at first. have fun on the river road.

The 1st on top of the building is on the former First National Bank building. They used to change the color of the 1st sign, for Christmas and other holidays. I'm not sure if they still do it, though. Great vlog!
Hi Jacob Oh yes on a role with the MU E UM RULE MAJOR Input learning new things everyday..!!! I hope the rotating restaurant re opens..XXX
About 50 min east of the Twin Citys is a cool town called Osceola Wisconsin. I recommend checking it out sometime
Mill City seems cool. The wood carved people are different but neat. I like the History Matters water bottles and the explosion magnets. The rotating restaurant would have been fun. Jacob would do a good job narrating books on tape with his museum voice.
