Thankyou so much, I use to live out the back of there and the noise level every weekend was astounding coming from the cars. Awesome video thanks 😊

I raced my model T there in 1992 Such a shame it was forced closed by the locals and now not supported by council

BACKWARDS! You did the track in the reverse direction to when it was raced on.... 😢 BUT, THANK YOU! Ive been wanting to see the old Park for some time but haven't been in the area for even longer... Used to visit there quite often in the 90's... While its quite a bit narrower now- can no longer see sandstone wall sections of track, I also seem to remember more of a tunnel effect... Although that could also be due to the 'clandestine' nature of the visits combined with the speeds they were made ;) Old race tracks & old roads are just about my favouritest thing, we've got SO many of them- 3 in/around Bathurst, not including little Hartley Vale track near Lithgow & then theres another 3 around Goulburn, on of which I'll post a couple of clips of soon & shoot a link if interested... 84km/52mile Bungonia GP track- sorry, I drove it rather than walked! :v Lastly, here's a couple of the last recorded official laps of Catalina Park when it was still in use as a race track- Circa 1991-92; kzread.info/dash/bejne/i4yH0MFqn6uzj7w.html Circa 1988; kzread.info/dash/bejne/e3qLw5iAYNzdYZc.html Oh, & here's my mediafire upload of a Tracks In Time article by Jim Skaysbrook on Catalina Park; www.mediafire.com/file/89sa4en3ii15zm3/Catalina_Park%252C_Katoomba.rar/file

Nice. It certainly degraded since the last time I walked around it back in the nineties. Back then, it was still in use for casual club days. Apparently, the cops would leave the gate open on a Saturday night and wait for a hoon, then shut it trapping them in.......

You went around in the reverse direction. I participated in a lap dash there in ‘78. There were a couple of streams crossing the track then also. It was a scary place with little margin for error. Unsurprisingly it closed completely soon after (or so I thought).

What a shame that BMCC has let it get so overgrown. I went to an A Class reunion in about 1996 (British cars) and they let me take my wife's VN S Pack for a couple of laps, heaps of fun. Back in the day there was a Catalina plane in the pond next to the track where they would play movies inside and you felt like you were flying. I moved from Hurstville to Faulconbridge then Springwood so I know the mountains well. Yokahama Tyres actually did a test day at the track with the Lansvale Smash and the GIO Commodores there one day.
