Abandoned Munitions Plant - WWII-Era Ruins in Dakota County, Minnesota

July 5th, 2023: Gopher Ordnance Works didn't last long. By the time the plant was operational in January 1945, the end of WWII was just 7 months away. After the fascists' surrender, the unending demand for gunpowder ceased to exist, and the plant soon sat vacant. In 1947, all this land was handed over to the University of Minnesota, and since then it’s mainly been used for agriculture related research. Today, the remnants of Gopher Ordnance Works lie sprawled across a vast complex of ruins.
The T-walls are easily visible along County Road 46 in Rosemount, Minnesota.
