Abandoned Motorhome RV We Get It Run And Drive and Then We Get More Issues

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

We go back to Ny to continue working on the Rv to get it running and we got a new starter and more batteries. We got it running and got it to drive. But then we ran into air pressure issues and the air brakes where sticking. Let us know what else we can do. Thanks for all the support and info.

You guys are the prime example on how brothers should get along and I envy you, so keep it up and continue to support each other, But for the Motorhome, check the transmission fluid, and also a couple of boost sensors which can take away power, Waiting on the final video on when you guys get this thing solved, you are took far now to call the wrecker and take your thunder :).

On our buses the air needs to be right up to min 8bar on both tanks or the brakes wont release, the throttle has no power and the suspension wont dampen and you start banging wheel arches. Everything works on air, your nearly there guy's don't give up. Most problems are caused by the air dryer, if that's faulty you get ice or water in the lines and can't get the pressure up. Just trying to help with ideas that go wrong on buses.

There usually an Air port under the hood for tow truck to air the rig. A portable unit could do the same.

We've owned 2 motorhomes over the last 25 years. Both were gas but it is amazing how they fall apart when not used often. Brake calipers locking up, radiators and heater cores rotting out, rubber fuel lines plugging up and on and on. Finally bought a travel trailer and use my daily driver to pull it. A lot less trouble. I wish you luck and when you get it running use it often!!!

Siezed actuator. Keep going guys, also check the turbo actuator for good travel so you are getting full boost. Also take a spray bottle full of water and washing up liquid to spray on the air hoses / actuators - if you have a leak it will bubble up and show you where! Dont forget any drain valves on the air reservoir tanks - someone may have left one open to drain out the water / condensation.

Check what codes it has. It sounds like it might be in limp mode, it doesn't sound like its starting off in first gear. If it is in limp mode you'll probably get maybe 2nd gear amd high, but reduced power to keep the trans from burning up. A quick code check would help a lot.

I own multiple tractor-trailers. When I have trucks that are sitting for too long the brakes shoes seized up to the drums. You need to back the slack adjusters off and then take a sledgehammer and beat the s*** out of the drums until the spring breaks let loose. Sometimes it can be a real pain in the ass and you have to hammer all the way around the drum eventually they'll Break Free.

  • @dougjones6823

I think the pads have let go of the rim it sounds more like the brake pot or maybe the s cam has rusted and not released all the way . But yes back the slack adjuster all the way off work the brake then reset the slack adjustment but know what you are doing very easy to adjust wrong way and have no brakes .as for the pressure the compressor is real slow at idle it's happy place is around 1200 to 1500 to build air. For the no power check your air to air lines if one is loose or off you loose alot of power good luck.

i highly suggest that you guys. pick up some regular old Composition books to use as a log for the Motorhome i’ve owned 17 or 18 boats and several travel trailers all of those have years of repairs and modifications done by all the people using whatever was available at that time and place like that starter issue if you log model numbers and draw diagrams in your log book it will make life easier in the future you won’t beleive how sometimes the simplest things like gaskets. get changed from one model to another on these products over the years that’s one item i always traced into my log book and always brought to the parts stores when i went there it saves a lot of running back and forth with one that didn’t work FYI the reason for the Composition notebooks is they are pretty tough and can be used with greasy hands. inside engine compartments in the dirt , rain etc without falling apart plus they are cheap to buy it also gives you a common spot to put everything pertaining to that unit like oil changes and other maintenance items trust me you might think you can remember that but you won’t Motorhomes often use Commercial Chassis and parts like that Cummins might be exclusive to a particular Motorhome builder and that Starter may be different then another Motor Home or truck with the same size Cummins engine it’s crazy but boat builders do the same thing and let’s face it sometimes the Parts guys aren’t the sharpest tools in the Shed so anytime you have as much info as you can you are ahead of the Learning curve

Air brakes need minimum 90psi to release. After sitting expect the brake shoes to be stuck to the drums. Adjust the brake off at the slack adjuster(know when you do you will have NO brake on that wheel untill readjusted). Soon as it's running have that Allison trans properly serviced.

Some major examples include starter motor, alternator, the entire cooling system external to the engine block, belts & hoses, fuel lift pump & fuel lines, even the dipstick!
