Abandoned Mansion Pelee Island

PLEASE DO NOT JUST COME HERE TO SEE THIS PLACE IT IS OFF LIMITS
After having visited this place on many occasions and been by it I finally stopped on a day when the door was unlocked. So I grabbed the camera while vacationing on Pelee Island, Ontario, Canada and went to explore.
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN THE COMMENTS!
Please note, I don't encourage you to try and trespass on private property. I do not vandalize, remove or alter anything at these places. I only walk through to see and video what these places look like after they have been abandoned.

I just got back from Pelee Island and in September 2018 , this place STILL sits abandoned , grass mowing continues. The background story of the building is most interesting !

I feel like I am right there with you! I appreciate that those of you who enter these dwellings to give us, the public, a better look, don't disturb or break anything in the process! Ty for sharing!

It's amazing that the building has had no any real damage, there has been big bucks spent on the construction. However the lawn has been maintained. I hope they can get it back up a running again !!

+TruAnRksT in Canada we look after our neighbours, meaning if my neighbour is not home or on holidays we just cut their grass. This place IS abandoned. This island also has many retirees that have nothing to do besides drive around the island cutting lawns for something to do. If everyone did this just think how nice it would be...

Agree 100% that a great roof on a building will do a good job of preseving everything beneath it. On the other hand if you ever see an old building with a hole in the roof, it is not for from ruin.

This is very strange because the stud work looks new, the wood is not aged at all. I would say it all looks very recent, including the electric box. Obviously it's being maintained. I would say you are probably trespassing on a rehab project and lucky to not be arrested. Hanks for sharing.

Yeah, I am not sure I appreciate the formal signature of this mansion with its wood cladded, uneven low pitched roofline and repetition of cheap apartment complex doors. Maybe it's the tone deaf brown/turquoise combo throwing me off, as well. At any rate, it sends me serious "McMansion made love to a countryside train station and had a son" vibes. Except the train will never arrive at destination since there is no railways. The portico isn't even centered with what should be the middle unit, as the axial plan is further disrupted by a separate block on the left =/ To each his own, but on my part, I don't have a difficult time to understand why few people want business with it 🤷

  • @KyleMills1

    @KyleMills1

    9 жыл бұрын

Good question and I always thought the same thing, from what I heard it was going to be a resort originally before it was abandoned. Which would make those doors the main entrance to the resort and the other doors would be separate entrances to the actual individual resort rooms. It would have been nice to see this place finished in all its glory with the planned swimming pool areas and other amenities.

Shouldn't a good investigator check with the municipal office first... after all, some branch of government may own it or it still belongs to the succession of a deceased rich person. Anyhow, I wouldn't advertise it for the simple reason that it could get overrun by unscrupulous squatters.

it could be a hotel for sure........nice place to go, but seems like more development and tourism happens in Ohio than it does on Pelee.....maybe its the silly government regulations, and environmental wackos that prevents anything happening on Pelee Island.....went there once, and was totally disappointed, but the boat ride was fun.....but it has the potential if only the government wackos would get out of the way, and turn it into a fabulous summer resort

I do not understand what makes you and all these other "explorers" think that it is legal, or right, to go into someone else's property without permission! Does not matter whether the door is "unlocked" or not, it is still breaking and entering, or at the very least, trespassing. This property is being maintained by someone... the grass is being cut. You should probably go ahead and start a bail fund.

  • @KyleMills1

You're right, probably should not be going in these places. This place was actually between owners at the time. The original owner ended up in prison and the government repossessed it. At the time I visited it was changing hands over to a native tribe but it still doesn't make it right. I don't encourage anyone to be doing these kinds of things and whatever comes of it will come of it. I don't vandalize anything nor do I take or leave anything, it's just that my curiosity gets the better of me...
