So cool you're making it a family affair. Also don't kid yourself, you made a huge transformation compared to the auction pics, which the exterior even showing some discolouration. Sure it's rough but you're bascially resurrecting it from the dead. Mega respect for the effort and for taking on this project.

Many thanks! Optimism/naivety might have been a little high when I bought it, but the main thing is I didn't really expect to have to go through each system so thoroughly. Lesson learned but it makes a good KZread journey. 😅 I do really enjoy giving it (or any car really) a second lease on life. That does feel good. And the kids get a kick out of seeing themselves in the episodes so it's fun to include them (and just include them in the car work in general so they feel involved).😁

@@BRICKHOUSESPL grooming the next generation of gearheads is always cool. Yeah look I think it can seem daunting but when you have the obvious skills you do it does bring the costs down considerably, especially with access to so many quality used parts. Instead of revitalising the paint and the fact that there's different shades of white between the body, rear hatch and the bonnet/hood maybe a vinyl wrap later on would be more cost effective? Just a simple polish now rather than an expensive paint correction process when it's not colour matches at the moment?

@@martindeoliveira5128 you read my mind. I want to use it for practice for cleaning up the paint -cutting, buffing, polishing, etc. But I've also been wanting to trying vinyl wrapping for a while now and this is the perfect excuse. But you need a smooth surface for vinyl so I still get to do the paint clean up work.

I feel that Katakana struggle! One time some guy was talking to me about an s14 I was taking pictures of in Japan, but he was saying シルビア and at the time I couldn’t connect that to Silvia in my mind. After we walked away it clicked and it was a real ‘duh’ moment. Cleaning videos are so satisfying to watch!

Looks really nice with the interior all in there! As someone who has gutted their car, removed aircon and heater etc, I'd leave it all in there if I had the chance to do it again. The weight saved is tiny, compared to what can be gained in tyre, suspension etc as you mention. Great progress this week!

Hey there, to remove the shift boot form the center console, you will need to remove the whole center console by unscrew it from both sides of it, and then the boot is held by a couple of screw from under there, if my memory serves me right. I still owned my integra gs-r since 1995 when i bought it new and worked a lot on it in the late 1990's converting it to JDM spec. love the content with your kids, since my 2 kids seems to be about the same age. My wife is also original from kawasaki city japan, and use to go to Tokyo auto salon every year before the kids started school. Good luck on the DC2 build and please keep on making this content. It really give me good memories of when i worked on my DC2. We are trying to go back this summer to japan to visit family and would love to meet up.

I don’t know if japan has clay bar to clay the outside paint but doing that and then a polishing compound and a wax will really clean up that paint. My Silvia was sitting out side for 8 years and did that took a little work but car looks amazing now. Basically if paint is not cracking with alittle bit of work can loom really good keep up all the great content been loving all your videos

Aircraft paint remover on the valve cover and repaint it with wrinkle black paint. Or red. And remove the header heat shield and repaint it with flat black high heat paint. Those two refinished will make the engine bay look way better. Also remove the red paint on the front grill and and repaint the lip white. Headlight restoration. I have an ashtray for the interior. Not sure if lhd is different for that area. For the rear trunk cover, get a piece of thin plywood, trace it on there and cut it. Hope you find some OEM taillights soon for the low. My bad I can talk Integras all day. I gotta start putting out videos of my build soon.

Heads up I cracked a perfectly good dash using armor all. I try to stay away from that brand from now on. What the detailers suggest is some product called aerospace 303. If you have an old dry dash the last thing you want to use on it is armor all. At least the American brand armor all. I would save a bit more and buy something that has been running more recently. A lot of repairs like the gas tank and brakes I had to do were due to it sitting so long. Something that's only a year or two since being used will likely have less problems.

Oh man, you passed on a complete dash with auto HVAC controls for $200?? You crazy! LOL. Are you going to try a full cut & polish on the paint to see if you can bring it back to life and get some of that deeper contamination out of the clear coat? Works wonders if you have access to the right tools and compounds.

Looking good and cleaning up well. 🙂 The rear speakers were probably not fitted. Mine has the grill and the speaker loom, but never had speakers from new. You need to take the lower part of the centre console out and the shift gator surround is held in by a couple of grub screws. It looks like it just pulls out, but it doesn't. Don's ask how I know. 😬🙂 It looks like a nice rust free example, particularly in the rear arches. Though I've found the Type R's the very worst for rot there. They're not nearly as well sealed as the non R's in the range.

Haha, I'm glad I stopped pulling on that panel when I did! Yikes! That's interesting about the speakers. I thought they were trying to drop weight but they must have been a factory option. Interesting. And yeah, when I was cleaning up the underside, I was really surprised how little seam sealer was on the overlapping panels. Nissan goes heavy on it so I was surprised how light Honda did it. Thanks for taking the time to help!!

@@BRICKHOUSESPL Factory delete options were extensive back then. With Honda anyway(and pages of Honda accessories on top). When I imported(to Ireland in 05) my 98 type R it had no speakers, back or front, no radio, no ABS, no airbags, no clock, no 3rd brakelight. The only option ticked was aircon(I've since added bits back in). We had a big import scene over here in the early noughties and I saw 1.6 Tegs with every option ticked and the Honda accesories thrown at them too. 🙂 Honda didn't go crazy with seam sealer, especially on domestic market cars. They're rust magnets. Given I live in Ireland, where rust goes to heaven, I filled every everywhere I could with antirust wax. It worked and it's one of the few I've seen that isn't rotten or full of welding and it's my daily driver and lives outdoors.

Ones that have lived their life on the track with half gutted interior are $10k-ish on yahoo so maybe half of what a pristine one is with shipping included. So yeah, it just depends on what you're looking for. SIR-G models like mine seem to be a bit all over the place value wise. But possibly an even cheaper option that's 75%? ITR performace on track.
