The first vid of our Belgium series where we visit 4 awesome abandoned places. First up is the famous Chateau Noisy or Miranda Castle, one of the all time Top 10 abandoned places.
History:
The castle was built in 1866 by the English architect Edward Milner under commission from the Liedekerke-De Beaufort family, who had left their previous home, Vêves Castle, during the French Revolution. However, Milner died before the castle was finished. Construction was completed in 1907 after the clock tower was erected.
Their descendants remained in occupation until World War II. A portion of the Battle of the Bulge took place on the property, and it was during that time, the castle was occupied by the Nazis.
In 1950, Miranda Castle was renamed "Château de Noisy" when it was taken over by the National Railway Company of Belgium as an orphanage and also a holiday camp for sickly children. It lasted as a children's camp until the late 1970s.
The castle has stood empty and completely abandoned since 1991 because the costs to maintain it were too great, and a search for investors in the property failed. Although the municipality of Celles has offered to take it over, the family has refused, and the enormous building is now (as of 2015) in a derelict state, succumbing to decay and vandalism. Parts of the structure were heavily damaged in a fire and many areas of the ceiling are collapsing.
Urban Exploring is not for kiddies. Abandoned places are dangerous. Adventures are fun.

indeed, in 2017 the building was completetly demolished, it opened in 1866 and closed down in 1991!

I got so upset when I saw the inside as well. What a shame.
If wasn't so run down inside I would totally live there! Gothic homes like this one are my dream homes!

I know this is 2 years old, but you wouldn't want to because it doesn't circulate heat well and you'll be cold 24/7. lol
The facade of the Chateau is exceptionally beautiful, it must be rehabilitated and preserved

The family who owns the castle refused to do that from what we know here in Belgium. The town/city where its located made several offers to buy it, they refused that aswell.

This place needs restored before it falls apart completely cause places like this are history and need to be preserved

Slapped Ham brought me here for creepy abandoned places and I'm really glad. I like to check out these kinds of videos. This one's very cool. It's a shame it's been demolished but glad you caught the interior on film. It had great architectural grandeur.

You were so lucky to see this before it was demolished only a year after this video was captured. In fact, we were planning on taking a trip down there in the near future. -Even got vecation from work and found some flight tickets.... only to find out it has now been completely demolished. Nice of you to share its last days.

It may sound weird but I remember watching this video during 2020 when I got sick with covid, that was also the year I found this channel. I was really scared and depressed back then but your videos helped me manage my mental health state during that time. Love this channel!

I can't begin to image how many extremely skilled craftsmen it took to build this place and how long it must have taken with no modern tools or equipment. How does anyone come up with enough money to build a place like this, not to mention what is would cost to heat and maintain the property! Simply amazing! I wish I could have seen it in it's glory days!

The original name of this castle is castle Miranda, there apparently is the ghost of a young girl there and this castle was used for pictures in the film Hannibal. Great explore guys!

they are now demolishing the castle, I was one of the last ones in the tower for a quit revisit. It was hard to get in and even harder to get out unseen due the security and famous forrester with shotgun. the castle was my first urbex experience ;-)

David Turner, i agree, but I think it is worth it, such a huge building, just amazing!
Proper cool show guys!!!! You should visit Liverpool sometime and check out the Victorian tobacco warehouse. Don't know how safe or how accessible it is (guarded or not), but some of Captain America's 1st film was shot there. You might find old movie props or old smokes! Or just a collection of crackheads. Liverpool has a few good spots to hit up too if it's a no go.

+Hell on Earth At the docks in Liverpool there's a car garage built in to one of the arches, and there's the abandoned underground tunnels there too. When you guys were at Camelot, you weren't far away from Winstanley hall, which may be worth a gander too. Can't wait for the next video!
