Abandoned CHATEAU Restoration For Sale | GOLDFINGER HOME TOUR.

Bonjour à tous, In this episode Ash, jonathan & Terry visit a beautiful abandoned chateau dating back to 1760 and once owned by the infamous John Palmer AKA Goldfinger. Over the past couple of decade’s the chateau has feel into disrepair but looking around we can still see the grandeur it once had, with a stunning chapel on site fitted with beautiful hand carved wood panelling Terry is in love but sad to see the state of it all.
The story was beautiful for 15 years until the assassination of the owner, then recognized and wanted by all the police for mafia acts now identified, making him the No. 1 crook nicknamed "Goldfinger". The property was then abandoned, nature regained its rights and the very hypothetical suspicion that a treasure had been hidden there sparked a "gold rush" with devastating consequences for the place... A real looting took place in the general indifference, leaving today a spectacle of desolation.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

I’m so pleased you gave a shout out to Ted and Lesa at Chateau de Montmagner. They work so hard and sleep in a tent in a slightly dodgy barn while they restore this unique 14th century Chateau and former Relais de la Poste. They have an EXTREMELY limited budget and need all the help they can get. So excited to see the third floor kitchen progression and of course, Ash’s sink!

Jonathan is such a unique child. Show him the videos of Martijn Doolaard. He is such an artist at videography and photography. He is renovating a cabin in the Italian Alps. Watch his 1 year progress video. He also took two bike trips around the world. The photos from his trip are mesmerizing. Jonathan is exposed to so many interesting things. He has a remarkable career ahead of him. Maybe he can do LiDAR scans of historical buildings. Someone did that with Notre Dame and h the s data is no used for the restoration.

Let Jonathan try out the free version of Sketchup. He can scan and design a room in the Chateau and document his ideas on video. He definitely has Uncle Terry’s creativity. He needs a drone for his KZread channel. It just warms my heart to see him grow and developed his talents.

Just hoping the owner will sell it to someone who will restore it to its previous grandeur. I was absolutely thrilled to see Jonathan! He is definitely destined for great things, I for one will be joining in on his channel, it is going to be fun seeing the château and all the work going on through his eyes. I think a good name for his channel would be “Jonathan’s World” or “Château Life With Jonathan”, no matter what he names his channel, I know it will be as unique and amazing as he his. As for this chateau tour, I honestly watched this video with tears in my eyes. This building is so beautiful with many unique features, seeing it in ruins and destroyed at the hands of a$$ holes who don’t care about anything other then themselves, made me so very sad. However, I thank you for showing this beautiful property and allowing my mind to immerse in its beauty and imagine what it looked like when it was whole. Hopefully the new owners will start a KZread channel and we can watch the progress of this magnificent lady being brought back to life.

I could see Edwardian ladies floating elegantly through that magnificent grand entry and the upstairs rooms. I'm not sure if it was the cinematography, the music or the ghosts of the ladies... So sad to see these old chateaus in such a state. I'm sure the Lalacelle community is very happy that you are restoring their chateau. It is too bad we all don't have enough years and enough money to be able to restore many many of the old and glorious buildings not only in France but around the world. Speaking of money, thank you for mentioning the @ChateauDeMontmagner channel. I'm a patron of theirs too. They have done amazing things with their old castle without much money, but with lots of love and muscle. The other fairly new channel I love is: The Beau Chateau! Thanks for this lovely video!!

Love the video! Thank you for sharing with us. Hopefully the new owner will restore it to its former glory and not modernize everything. I really appreciate your approach towards modernizing your château. It's so sad when the unique character of old buildings get taken away. If you have a new building IMO you're welcome to do whatever the heck you want with it. But old buildings aren't simply the property of the owner. They are part of the cultural heritage of the country they're in. You're just a temporary caretaker of the past for the future.

So excited for Johnathan’s French Chateau Journey ! His videographer skills have grown. Funny story... My granddaughter, age 5 at the time, was flower girl in my son’s wedding. Unbeknownst to anyone, she had grabbed a Reception table camera (110)? & went on a Photographic Adventure! We never knew until the pictures were developed! Her view, & the pictures she took were mind blowing. In a snap moment, she took the cutest picture EVER of my daughter in law. It was so memorable. Count me in as a subscriber for Johnathan. REMEMBER ‼️ YTube algorithms, & how it works. In describing your channel, add hashtags. #France #FrenchChateau #Travel #FrenchTours Get the idea? YT algo will then recommend his videos. This granny is proud of you Johnathan.❤

Love the video, that Chataeu would have been stunning in its day. Please don't confuse 'Explorers' with 'Vandals' as the majority of explorers are there to look and don't touch, they see the history the natural paint peel and decay. Vandals just destroy and have no thought for anything belonging to other people. So glad that there maybe new owners to restore this Chataeu and Chapel back to its glory. Jonathan should call his new channel 'A down to earth view of our Chateau'. Well done everyone, I did enjoy this 💕🇦🇺

What a magnificent Chateau, you took us to today so beautiful. I do hope someone decides to save it from total ruin. Johnathan is so blessed that he has the opportunity to experience history before it is totally destroyed. I live in the southern part of the US and during the Civil War so many of our beautiful historical homes were burnt to the ground, the ones still standing are usually the ones where the officers resided when they were in that part of the countryside. God Bless you for being caretakers of your lovely Chateau for years to come. Kathy USA

Because I think he'll film around the chateau Delalacelle. When you see and learn in a young age it is often for youre lifetime. He saw today a terrible destruction but at home he sees the opposite,a reconstruction of a building.I think he learned a lot today, not only filming for his channel, but he learned you have to take care for youre house and garden.

I cry when I see the hard work of craftsmen and women destroyed. Imagine, when many of these abandoned chateau were built, there were no power tools, no motorized cars or trucks, and probably no electricity. Did they go mad trying to perfectly replicate piece after piece of paneling? The people who made these items of beauty did it to earn a very small living, but you can see in the red paint in the flowers in the chapel that there was also passion and a sense of beauty in what they created! What was it like when the owners moved in and the chateau was finished? The people who put blood, sweat, and long hours into creating it were likely full of pride for a job well done, even if they were never able to see inside the completely finished work. Imagine being able to walk past the hand chiseled corbels or a stone vaulted ceiling, pointing to them, and saying, "Your Grandad made that!" There just isn't the same satisfaction completing something with a 3-D printer or laser cutter. Best wished to Jonathan on his proposed channel! I look forward to seeing his creation. P.S. Thank you for the shout out to Chateau Montmagner. ❤Two people restoring one of the oldest structures with amazingly few views. Cute dogs, too!

Hi guys ! Love your stories , enjoy watching you restoring your castle. Never wrote to you but today just wanted to say that I think the way you think: the character of an old building should be saved and live as it was designed AND meant to be. That´s the only way to do. I myself live in Sweden in a 800 sq m mansion that is 180 years old and the furniture and interiors coincide with that and I enjoy it ! I feel the history and the past as well as develop the building and adopt it to modern conveniences. I have a housekeeper on salary and a gardener . But I have a good job and can afford little extra. It is really some sort of a hobby to live and to restore this old beauty and to give it new life.

This is why your family and restoration is so special. You make every effort to save the original building with all its historical features and artistry. There are many stories in those old walls, and I am of the school that it is tragic to erase all that history. When you ran your hand over the carved wooden florets inside the abandoned chapel, we could imagine the hands of those who tirelessly and passionately worked to create a building of pure beauty and majesty.

Seeing Jonathan filming his own content put a smile on my face. Maybe a good name is "Jonathan's World of Wonderous Things" since I'm sure he will have a wide range of topics to post. I wish him the best for his new channel. ❤

Like an epic romance story that ends in tragedy... I'm relieved to hear at least it's for sale now. But YAY to Jonathan starting his own channel. Please tell him that he's already got a subscriber (c'est moi) when he's ready. The next generation of youtube magic, sharing life as he sees it, who knows what direction it will take him in. The world is your oyster young man. 🥰 & YOUR KITCHEN!! Huge grins & a happy dance. Cheers!

Oh I so wish you could purchase this chateau. How beautiful it would be. I’m sure there will be another one for you. I thought perhaps “Through Jonathan’s Eyes” might be a nice name. Whatever you all decide I’m sure it will be wonderful to watch. Good luck Jonathan!

A beautifully done trip to the chateau yet so sad. It’s difficult to see the deterioration of such a grand building but to see the devastation caused by unloading people is nothing less than heartbreaking. I love how much you value the life, story, and essence of your chateau. Your sympathetic restoration is amazing. On the lighter side, really excited for Jonathan’s channel!

This French Chateau is like the Titanic if we could pull it up and restore her too we would. But it looks like this amazing family has done it you have restored this beautiful chateau. And in the memory of the RMS Titanic and all of the other ships in her name. God Bless You!
