I had a dream last night. This level crossing was standing in my town, and network rail gave me permission to take the equipment and they gave me a new barrier too for the barrier box!

Wow another abandoned crossing. Love these videos. Trains are just great. ;-)

Nice video! That's certainly a rather cool crossing there, shame it's abandoned. I find the "Railway Crossing Now in Use" signs to be rather ironic. How this crossing is completely isolated from any other line reminds me of a few abandoned crossings I've seen (mostly on Google Maps).

Thanks. No idea why this equipment hasn't been erected from the ground yet. The signs are all lying and it is quite clear considering only half the track on the road itself is left and there are no remains of the railway on either side of the crossing too. I don't think there's going to be a crossing here in the future.

Nice video and crossing! From Google Maps I could see that this was a siding that led to Overland Freight Fowarders.

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel According to google earth, in 2003 the crossing was caught in action. In 2009 (google earth still) a class 08 was seen operating in the sidings and the last wagons disapeared from the sidings after about 2011.

Seeing that white vertical Wigwag would've been so special, like the old one in Saxmundham. Sadly they removed this whole crossing altogether

This used to be the way into the dockyard from the original Sheerness station. It would have been going 24/7 during the war, in my granddad's day when he was stationed here. I was bought up here in the 50s and 60s, but never saw a train going over here.

Ah, glad you know what it is. It looked like a Klaxon. Google Maps in 2009 shows the other wigwag and barrier box present and there's a shiny red Klaxon alarm on the back of the other pole.

1:45 there must be a typo on that red and white sign! It sawys "Now in use" when it really isn't! 3:41 that's odd that the alarm is on the front of the lights, not the back! They should finish removing the crossing and donate the equipment to a heritage railway!

It is so old I doubt the equipment works well anymore. The lights are probably broken, as-well as the alarms. It will be removed eventually.
