I regard Ahmad Faraz just a little below Faiz as a poet. As regards Mehdi Hassan ,I have no words to describe his greatness as a ghazal singer. May Allah grant jannat-ul-firdous to both of them!!!

Mehdi Hassan introduced modern ghazal style with keeping a balance between poetry and melody. He was my GURU and he kept me, with him, 1961-1971, till I joined Radio Pakistan as Programme Producer and retired as Controller/Station Director, Radio Pakistan, Lahore- in addition am Music specialist Producer, Composer and Singer. This song is very close to my heart. Such a beautiful song. This song always reminds of my wife whom we lost to cancer 2 years back. We used to sing together and never needed anyone else to be happy. How badly I miss her and want her again in my life knowing fully well she will never be us.

I am nepali, i understand hindi fine, but few words of urdu, still i listen these masterpieces with rekhta dictionary.

Proud to be from land of two greatest Gazal singer. Mehadi Sahab and Jagjeet Singh. Both are from Rajasthan. Though they belong to humanity but feel very close to my relationship with their soil. This land not only produced greatest warrior but also many soft spoken people too.

To speak the truth, We -- the Indians and Pakistanis -- are very fond of music and are united in our love towards the great Mehdi Hassan Saab. As a matter of fact, their is no animosity amongst the general public of our two nations against each other. They want to live in peace and harmony. It's the politicians -- on both sides of the divide -- who had failed us. The sequence of events in the Indian History leading to the partition will amply testify to this historical fact.

On moonlit nights, sitting in the balcony, sipping Old Monk 🥃 and reminiscing the happy and sad memories of my life with such classic songs playing in the background, I think it's enough to boost my mental health ! 🔥

Thanks to my dad who introduced me to the greatest of all time, Mehdi Hasan and Ghulam Ali during my childhood. Timeless classic. As sweet as my favorite fragrance, never gets old. All new music and lyrics seem juvenile compared to this. One of the best ways to remove boundaries created by religion, politics and hatred...

As if this particular ghazal by Faraz was destined for Mehedi Hassan’s voice only. This is something other-worldly!

तीन उस्ताद तारिक़ खान साहब -तबला ,शायर अहमद फ़राज़ साहब ,और गजलों के बादशाह मेहदी हसन साहब । एक से बढकर एक शायरी के बोल ,तबले का लाजवाब ठेका ,और एक अलग सलग पहचान वाली दमदार गायकी जिसकी गजलों की ,संगीत की दुनियाँ मे कोई तोड नही एक अमर आवाज जो दिल के अन्दर तक पैठ बना दे ,उस्ताद जी मेहदी हसन साहब,ला जवाब अदायगी । वाह वाह क्या बात है ।जितनी बार भी सुनिये प्यास मिटती ही नहीं ।

بہت خوب عمممممممدہ کلام عمممممممدہ آواز اللہ تعالیٰ مہندی حسن صاحب کو جنت الفردوس میں جگہ جگہ عنایت فرمائے

Those, who dislike this ghazal of the great Mehdi Hassan Saab, are either devoid of any music sense or they don't have a knack for good music. Because, under no stretch of imagination could this rendition of the great Khan Saab be rated as below par or substandard in view of the quality, clarity, depth, and range of his voice, complete control over the labz, sur, taal, and loy and inimitable style of his gayiki.The great Mehdi Hassan Saab had earned laurels from the pundits and connoisseurs of music alike and was recognized as a legend in his life time all over the globe for his inspirational singing qualities. It may not be out of place to mention here that Lata Mangeskar, an another legend, once said -- ". GOD resides in the voice of Mehdi Hassan Saab.." Does Mehdi Hassan Saab require any other complement from any other quarter regarding the quality of his voice and the least, from novices like us? Propriety demands that one should not pass any disparaging remark on something if it is not within their grasp or beyond their comprehension. Needless to say that this ghazal or for that matter, any other genre of music can't be bad simply because it doesn't suit the taste of a particular listener. Therefore, it's not fair to cast aspersions on someone's creations without ascribing any plausible reason thereof. Needless to say that it doesn't augur well for the healthy growth of Classical Music in general and Ghazal Gayiki in particular. --- Amarendra Bora, Former Commissioner and Secretary, Finance Department, Govt Of Assam (India).

Very well explained, and if I may add to your description of the great MHK is a comment I saw NFAK saying in his late years about him that he (Mehdi Hassan Khan Saheb) was the only artist whose all vocal chords, in his throat, were active in comparison to all the contemporary artists of the subcontinent including himself (NFAK). So this comment by another great artist seconds his voice quality after Lata Ji.

It felt like a supernatural entity was singing , it's voice present in every corner of the universe. The tabla player , intoxicated by the voice, expressing his feelings with his hands. All other instruments perfectly resonating with the voice. A remarkable achievement in music.

Mehdi Hasan saab ghazals are pure pure bliss. You just get lost somewhere in them and imagine that you are the part of that poetry.

I was completely mesmerized while listening this gazal .Mehdi saahab was really phenominal singer.Gazal lovers really miss him but we had his melodious voice they will keep on plunging into that.May god give peace of his soul

In this ghazal, - 'Abke Hum Bichre', - modulation of voice, for which the great Khan Saab was known all over the world , came into full flow making it very soulful and heart rending. In fact, each one of his ghazals is heart- touching because of his soulful rendering. It is, indeed, a divine pleasure having listened lo this gem on daily basis. What a formidable singer he was!

The Greatest ever Koe nahi khan sab jaisa Wow The king of Ghazal

It's a midnight of 2021 a cup of tea... smoking while disappeared in thoughts .... and listening this legend

It appears that the great Khan Saab was a wizard of music. He has mesmerized one and all in his illustrious career as an exceptional exponent of ghazal gayiki! Is there anyone to match his caliber and brilliance as a ghazal gayak?

Mehdi Hassan, Lata, Kishore, Rafi, Noor Jehan are some of the master pieces. Even after thousands of years, indian music survived. Music, poetry and cricket kept us together from Afghanistan to the borders of Burma.

Out of this world poetry as well as singing.

A heavenly voice and feel you can never have enough of,even after hearing all his ghazals , throughout the day........ just speech less. 🙏

I love mehndi Hassan Saab... He is nothing but only and only God of music 🎵🎶 No words at all for his feelings and magic of composition ❤️❤️❤️❤️
