@@greatestnitemare6626 lol, you act like we need Hicks to continue to be good. The Orioles actually have a great outfield, one of the best in baseball. Hicks was just a fill in until Mullins came back, now the Yankees are a team that basically needs to pick a guy off the street to do well for them since their outfield is trash right now. And btw Hicks continues to play decent, his numbers don't show it but he got 2 huge RBIs against the Twins that ended up leading to wins. I certainly don't mind Hicks continuing to be our 4th OF, since he is so good at getting ahead in the count and drawing walks at least, and its even better that the Yankees are paying for his success in Baltimore.

Granted those are some cringe worthy moments but you could also compile a clip of equal length of some extremely spectacular defensive clutch plays made by him in addition to some timely hitting on his part or at bats when he really battled with the pitcher driving up his pitch count in the process. I know that a compilation could be made of any elite-level player grounding into multiple double plays and having fielding miscues. Sometimes those aren't fair. But, these were nearly all from 2023 with the exception of the first 1-2 that were from late last year (if I recall). I don't know what happened to Hicks. He started off as a plus/neutral-defense player with a plus bat. Then the defense went away leaving him with a plus bat. Then the wheels all came off and the Yankees would've been happy to trade him away for a bag of baseballs and couldn't find a buyer.

Simply put, he got hurt. Again, and again, and again, and again. He literally could not stay on the field and became our new Ellsbury. By the time he finally stayed on the field for a sizeable amount of time, he was so taken out of it and his body banged up from all the injuries that there was no way he could be the player he was. The yips almost definitely got to him as well, playing cautiously and hesitating/second-guessing on everything he does to try to not get hurt again.

I don't think I ever booed harder or louder in my entire life at a baseball game, and the fact that it was a player on the team I root for just made it even more worse. It was just pent-up frustration that built with the years of having Hicks on the team. I'm just glad he's no longer a Yankee cause I really could not stand him.

As an os fan I was kinda skeptical that they decided to pick him up to replace Mullins for the time being but as of now he’s started to change my mind a little. I think a big factor was a change of scenery. I know as a player that if you’re unhappy on a team it starts to bleed into your performance. Especially when pressure is always on for you to not screw things up.

The Yankees ruined Hicks. He was never a great player (and they over paid him) but the "launch angle" metrics and home run or strikeout philosophy the Yankees push on their players messed up his swing. He then took his pitiful hitting to the field. I'll bet he has a solid season for Baltimore.

The thing for me is, this is only half of it. The crying about playing time, sheer lack of accountability (until the very, very end after Stanton told him what he should do) and the self pity, made it so much worse to watch. Had hicks behaved with accountability and humility? I think he would have played better and been more forgiven. FWIW There is a rumor floating that the last straw was when they pinch hit for him vs a righty pitcher, with DJ.. You could see the look on his face in the dugout. He is rumored to have stormed off and after the game, in the locker room, said that he was the second best OF on the team, behind only Judge. He criticized other guys. Judge and Cole took serious issue. Hal made the call. This was not Cashman's call. Cashman loved him. Either that or Hicks had some serious dirt on him. That is what I heard from a good source. I am no one, in the know by any means but I wasn't shocked to hear it. Take it as a rumor but again, would people be shocked?

THat was very tough to watch... thats all i can say. And that is just the start of it, so many bad moments in recent years. Sorry, but im happy we wont see him in the lineup anymore. Now if we only could find anyone who would take on some of Donaldson's contract, now were talking. Also so Bader and IKF get heated in the OF. Not sure how the "chemistry" is on this team. But we need to bring up some of our youngsters like weve slowly been doing, there will be a different feel to this team. Playing a player just because of how much were paying him, no matter if hes doing any good or not.... No... i just dont dig this. Im shocked we DFA Hicks. It was like once in ever 20 games he would have a HR and 2 hits, then he'd be hitless for the next 2 weeks with a few walks. Just aint cutting it. This team still has time to get their s88t together and could be dangerous but its gonna be hard to do when we constantly have injuries. This list of our 5 starters looked like a dream come true and still have not seen Rodon, luckily German comes back. Injuries is what ya get when you sign Hicks and Donaldson's etc. Sorry for the rant.
