In April, Patriots player Aaron Hernandez stopped by The Grove to chat with "Extra's" Maria Menounos about the upcoming NFL season.

Yea I know. I know he did some bad things and associated with the wrong people, but to the public, like in this video, he was always a nice and classy guy. Even when he interviewed in the locker room, he was always chill and friendly towards the reporters. Never saw him give anyone grief or drama, always jovial and professional. I think that's what makes this whole thing so sad, he could have been great both on and off the field, and threw it all away because of his own personal demons behind the scenes.

I can’t see well, ears ring in bright light, not to much emotion or drive anymore. Kathrina Cariaso it was a number of factors but I can also attest to the fact that not all football players who’ve taken multipe hits to the head and who most likely will have CTE if I already don’t, don’t just go around murdering people and become extremely aggressive. I notice problems in myself after 15 years of football but I would never hurt someone especially kill them. A lot of dudes who have played since they were 6 till college will attest to that. I played when I was younger in the era where coaches didn’t give a fuck what we did at practice we would just hit the whole time full speed. An I ain’t gone like he was

Nomadic Colours I mean for sure right, we have people that live with it people that can’t live with it and turn mad. But I couldn’t really tell you, I just have my personal experience. I’ve had a couple concussions and I’ve passed out twice on the field and kept playing, and I notice a significant difference in my quality of life since my junior year where I started taking hard hits every game. I can’t see well, ears ring in bright light, not to much emotion or drive anymore. But I know I’d never murder someone, I’m only 24 but shit man I played football 75% of my life so I think I’m good example to attest to the fact that CTE won’t make you kill people

@Aly C I know what you mean. For some odd reason I have some sympathy for him. He seemed to be battling so many demons and then with CTE on top of that. Usually I never have sympathy for People who kill, but for some reason I look at him and see someone who clearly never felt like he belonged.

To all that are condemning this now deceased man concerning his statement on what he said in this interview. I believe he made a statement "try to be a role model" when asked. Attempting to be a role model doesn't equal perfection, he's still a person who makes mistakes in fucking up just like THE REST OF US. I think what should matter is he made it to the NFL, was a good player, & was hispanic in a sport that's predominantly white & black dominated.

Yeah great role model Aaron Hernandez was, wasn't he
from what it sounds he wasn’t planning to do any crime... maybe he is not guilty after all . maybe there is a story behind all that ' that is so cruel that we as human being /a nation putting anyone in a cell with such bad conditions we are murder and even worse we do worse than he or whoever murdered did we don’t kill we torturer if he really did it it means he is sick and his soul needs to be healed and ppl should help ppl like that its ok to put behind bars but with decent condition with healthy physical work to help someone get better we are worse than murders, its just too much too cruel
