This is really not much different than R&B soul singers like Eddie Kendricks of The Temptations or Smoky Robinson (on occasion) who sang that high, although like Aaron Frazer, they had speaking voices of a normal pitch. So his singing is not out of place for the retro soul band he plays drums with Duran Jones and The Indications.
