I love how this doesn’t feel like an interview and a media appearance this feels like the three guys just having a conversation, and feel we get a lot more insight that way!

@log1162 a long graduated software dev, but also a very quick google to a triangle calculator
If we're pointing out weird sayings from Jake, he also said "is there a hump that broke the camel's back?"
Jake and Jimmy coming at BBD for the correct call that the baseball field has an angle of 90 degrees is hilarious.
@BigBabyDavidJM
Ай бұрын
i mean the thing is a freaking square
On Judge's positioning, you can create a triangle with a 1 degree angle at home plate, and two sides of 322ft and 320ft. Using the law of cosines with side a = 322, side b = 320, and angle of 1 degree, I found that he has moved 5.95ft towards right field.

The way that Boone responded to the “Is that a wall?” question is really making me think that it’s NOT a wall. 3:24
Loved this episode of Talkin' Geometry
LOL Jake self-analyzing after saying "I've seen some interesting fodder" was chef's kiss
Jimmy was reading the description of the baseball field at 55:00 and almost read “90 degrees” before changing it himself to 45 degrees. I know this isn’t a math pod, but you were reading the right angle (pun not intended) and changed it to the incorrect angle 😂
I wish more Yankees fans would watch these and listen to his baseball mind. He's a good manager, plain and simple

Country club under him,no accountability. He needs to go
Bench Coach Brad Ausmus: Aaron, I suggest you give the bunt sign. Aaron Boone: Who asked for your advice?!!
I like the way this interview,or discussion type of interaction.It's like sitting around discussing the issues while having a beer.
Only half way through, but man the quality of these conversations has improved so much. Was worried at points throughout Bantering w Boone that ya'll might've felt the need to 'press' him with hard-ball questions, or just in general make the convo's more intense than they need to be, so you didn't seem soft or like you were glazing him or whatever. I remember an excellent and entertaining podcast just a month or two ago, Jake said he thought ya'll were going overboard with compliments and such I always understood that urge and hoped you wouldn't buy into it too much, and man, have you guys really found an excellent medium to deliver us an entertaining podcast where you express fans' opinions and ideas, while maintaining a light-hearted and casual vibe that's just such a great listen. No awkward confrontational vibe like it was on rare occasions last season. Just pure, insightful, quality. Hats off to you guys. JM4L!
Seriously, you get across 1 run in extras and was fortunate to replace the guy at 2nd without getting an out. I understand volpe is a great hitter, but you have arguably 2 of the best hitters in the game right behind him. Had volpe bunted, soto or judge should be able to get the ball in the air, which soto did, and that would have been the game. I'm not asking them to bunt right away, but in that scenario with a run already across, it seems like a no brainer to me
I agree with Boone on the bunt situation. The free 1st out opens up for the pitcher to walk Soto to set up the double play, and we tend to find ourselves falling into a lot of those.
@ativanob14
Ай бұрын
Yea the walk of soto would definitely be the move in that situation cosidering judge has hit into 9 double plays this year. These guys definitely need to have a clinic with arod and Cano on situational hitting
Tbf to Tim McCarver, I pulled up that AB from the 2000 World Series and he immediately mentions how he didn't like that the Mets didn't have the contact play on for the exact reasons that Boone says.

Good catch. Those darting eyes. I think I need that audio and reaction slowed down and played side by side with IKF “non-errors.”
Is there ANY way I can actually get James to read this comment??? He often says weary when he means wary (or leery). Weary means tired. Wary means feeling cautious about possible danger ahead. Also, Jake- the straw broke the camels back, not the hump. Love the show!
It’s great that u can get Boone on your show at will. He’s a trooper to do it.
It is 5.81 feet to the right for the but a the end. 55:41
Boone is one great interview

These guys don’t know the base paths are a square.
@jonblom
Ай бұрын
Huh
Totally agree with Boone's comments on going on contact. It did not seem like it was registering to Jomboy at all though
with a degree to feet calculation, this does NOT take into account ball height, wind, etc so results may vary. It looks like 1 degree at 320 feet is 5.6 feet of difference. :) You guys are the best keep up the good work.
If my math is correct Arron judge is helping with about 6-1/2 feet 67.0172” to be exact
It is 5.81 feet to the right for the but a the end.
54:30 BBD's right saying the angle of a baseball diamond is 90 degrees, in relation to the bases, as it's just a rotated square. (Not HS student, just recent sports media graduate and future JM employee that can't do math beyond right angles)
Broooo ever thought of having live guest I’ll chat it up with Boone and the fellas who knows might start something BIG
It’s 90° guys. It is a 90° angle turned 45° to make it a diamond.
Audio started cutting out when you change views/cameras like before after Sharp Stats, didn't do it at the beginning of show though.
Talkin yanks is the Yanks new analytic department... just after the 9th inning
Watching Jake come unraveled was amusing.
I'll tell you exactly how Volpe bunting goes, volpe gets thrown out at first, walk, GIDP with 100% certainty
Boone always clears his throat when he is uncomfortable.
Yall really out here making me think about trig for the first time since 10th grade
Forgot how many feet jimbo said and now I regret not being able to retain information.
For those wondering, Judge moved about 5 feet 7 inches toward right field
This was a great Episode. Loved the conversation and the insite of how Boone was thinking

Go through Gleyber hahahahaha
Nicholson Construction built that wall
Boone> When the game goes past the ninth we need to go to the toilet.
lets go yanks
Foul line to foul line, Yankee Stadium measures 318ft. Baseball diamond is a 45 degree angle. 1/45th of 318ft is 7.07 ft roughly. That's what Judge is shading towards Soto.
The lack of basic trigonometric knowledge is startling then jimmy says “thats real math” and it certainly wasnt
Famously, not a math podcast
Would be almost 6 feet difference Judge has shifted to right field.
Fun fact about judge so far this season His average exit velo is lowest of his career. While hitting the ball center and opposite field are the highest of his career. Leading him to have the lowest pull rate of his career.
Ik they need Clay but is he really a 10 pitch guy?
It is unbelievable that the constant discussion from Yankees fans is about the wall. The Orioles have to play there 81 games a season
It’s about 5.6 feet.
A baseball field is not 45 degrees. BBD was absolutely right that it’s 90
It’s 2 years old
I can't quite understand why Boone over thinks relievers. We live in "the now" for wins. He thinks that with Holmes throwing 10-15 more pitches, he'll just explode. Sometimes he's gotta realize that the next day he may not be needed like the next two days where our bats got hot and didn't need relievers.
if Astros can send Jose Abreu down to minors league to fix his problems and timing, Yankees should do same to Gleyber, to fix his problems and reset his mental reset.

Yeah Boone you were short on pitching yesterday because for god knows why you used 6 pitchers in a game you won 15-5 against the Brewers…makes absolutely no sense especially knowing you had a tough series coming up against the O’s with 5 innings Schmidt on the mound for game 1

Stop calling it a ghost runner.

You guys be interviewing him in 10 yrs time still no rings on finger ,only excuses
Giancarlo can’t even jog the bases anymore.. obviously he is hurt is it worth having him in the lineup. Because if he doesn’t put it over the wall he is an automatic out on the bases every time. My question for Boone.
@salineaddict9850

Stanton is running full speed. Get used to it, it’s been this way for 4 years now.
@JeffSeibel
Ай бұрын
I don’t understand complaining about Stanton right now. He’s not going to be speedy at this point and we need to be okay with that. He’s hitting .240 with a .777 ops which is the best we’ve seen in a while from him. 5 doubles with no speed is solid from him this early in the season
@chrisheffernan6600
Ай бұрын
I will take this offensive output Stanton is currently giving us. He still can do damage, however will likely never be able to run again.
The amount of bitching about LF at Camden is actually embarrassing
Boone manages for tomorrow. And no one can predict the next day or two. When you have the chance Win today Boone !!!!! I believe they sweep Brewers, Give away a game and im sure there will be more. Look at the standings at the end of the year

AND last year BOONE moves Volpe to leadoff he falls off badly. This year he does it again and he bats .160 the last 15 games. Lets see Verdugo leads off almost his whole career . WHeres the logic ??
Boone has these guys so scared now it’s a joke to watch now
I'm very happy that the Yankees stuck with Boone, there was chatter of them getting rid of him last year I think they made the wise decision to keep him. I enjoyed listening to him discussing his managerial moves, go Yanks
Do you think bob boone tossed one banana on the floor for dinner and watched the Baboon brothers fight over it? In my universe that happens every night
Aaron boone is not a coach… we not going to win with boone
I’d expect better from Jimmy and Jake. Bitching about Camden’s dimensions is so pathetic but also so on brand for Yankees’ fans.
Yankees fan should take cues from Boone. If he ain’t bitching about the wall at Camden fans shouldn’t be either. Do a couple more curls if you wanna make it over the wall.
