Why is Pilibhit Tiger Reserve famous?

The Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is one of the finest examples of the exceedingly diverse and productive Terai ecosystems. Pilibhit Tiger Reserve was declared in September 2008 based on its special type of ecosystem with vast open spaces and sufficient feed for the elegant predators.
The Pilibhit Tiger Reserve is situated in the Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh, forming part of the Terai Arc Landscape, in the upper Gangetic Plain Biogeographic Province. The river Gomti originates from the reserve, which is also the catchment of several others like Sharda, Chuka and Mala Khannot.
