I also think that’s why her fire is blue It’s so close to lightning. And that’s because ever since she was little, Azula has never done anything without calculation, and has absolutely no need for emotion because she’s in control of every situation she puts herself in. That’s part of what makes her so goddamn dangerous for people that DO have emotions and make emotional decisions She uses that trait against them in order to succeed, and it ALWAYS works

Katara and Aang discuss the idea that elements have opposites, but they're wrong. Iroh demonstrates this in the very next scene; the elements are complementary parts of a whole; each of them can share aspects with each of the others. Otherwise you'd never be able to develop a firebending technique through waterbending It is a mistake to conclude that Aang struggles with Earth because he's an Airbender. Rather, his difficulties stem from being an _Air Nomad_ . His personality is what's opposite to the philosophy of Earthbending. To a different Airbending avatar, Fire might be their problem element. After all, Earth and Air are both essentially defensive in nature, while fire is pure offense.

I think korra demonstrates this more. Kinda amusing to see people just realizing this now. (Amusing as in cool)

The difference with sandbenders is that they can control many grains of sand at once, while most earthbenders control a single piece at a time usually, whatever the size. The seperate grains makes it hard for Toph to see using the vibrations. It's like trying to see through thick fog. That's the best way I can think of to explain it.

At this point in time lightning is not a wide spread thing. Its only reserved for the royal family. You may find one or two people out there that may know it but not likely during the 100 year war.

From this point forward, it might be a good idea to keep a box of tissues handy. Azula can produce lightning because there is no internal conflict in her. She knows she's a monster and she doesn't care.

Every Avatar (Except Kyoshi cause she's just a straight up badass) has struggled with an element as the corresponding element is the complete opposite of their personality. Aang is an airbender so his instincts would be to evade, he is a pacifist. Earthbending requires steadiness and tough actions, you can't runaway or dodge whatever is coming at you, you have to face it "head on". Which is why Aang has struggled with Earthbending.

Actually Kyoshi struggled with earthbending and she also used her fans to be good at airbending also so I'd say she struggled with two..Aang didn't struggle with any element if you think that he literally could bend all of them in a day and mastered all of them in a year

@@dionisischry4850 Aang did not master all the elements in a year He mastered airbending and waterbending in a year. Earth bending still needed time and firebending was just new to aang. You may say he learned the 3 elements in a year but never mastered it in the same year. With time he practised those elements and he may have mastered all the elements later in his life.

@@dionisischry4850 Well, when I meant struggle, I meant not being able to bend. Kyoshi did struggle you're right but at least she could bend the element, she just couldn't control it. Correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't read the novels in a while, but I thought Kyoshi was a natural at airbending since her mother was an airbender.

you'd think so, but, don't you get the sense that both these folks are.....a bit airheaded. Like...they just coast. Price of being a big channel with a busy schedule and low investment. They're just gettin em done, one by one. They're a bit checked out. How about how they glossed over all the heavy shit in this episode. Here's my prediction for some of the key moments to come: "oooooohhhhh,....that's soooo saaaaad." and done. They're not in this,...I think the word is....vapid...shallow. They're just not in it.

In my opinion, Iroh’s lecture about all the nations shows that the knowledge of techniques and cultures of the other nations isn’t just important for making the avatar powerful, but it’s important for everyone to know so they can bring out their full potential and also for making peace with everyone else

The lore in this cartoon is so detail and intricate... They are subcategories of each element

Episode 10 of book 2 was my most favorite episode at the time. I still remember the premier like if it was yesterday. Though it is the beginning of my traumatic experience with the show

"Peace of mind".....doesn't necessarily mean bein some chill stoner. Or being calm and peaceful. It means being absolutely secure in yourself and your life. Inner peace. As aggressive as Azula is...she doesn't really get too angry because she's sure of herself, her life, and her mission. In all their encounters, she's nearly had the Avatar on the ropes. Her losses have all been from being truly overwhelmed as an individual from several external forces....I mean, her LOSSES even fuel her confidence. She's like the only one in the world who can pull off the stuff she does. She's absolutely high on herself.

Sand Benders are highly specialized in Sand Bending. But they are Earth Benders.

I can relate alot to all the characters in this story in some ways, but the one I appreciate the most especially when he spoke about pride and shame.

@Struckbybelz! Back story/heads up! So if you didn’t know the voice actor for the character uncle iroh named MAKO! Who was very very famous even has a star in the Hollywood walk of fame! And started in movies like Pearl Harbor and such! He’s on the the most famous Asian actors in history! Had cancer and died after he recorded his lines for season 2 and a different voice actor took over for him in season 3! And tales of be sing se iroh short was the last episode he recorded before dying! The uncle short was dedicated to him! He even served in the military in the us post Ww2 after his family flead Japan before the war started!

Aang is a prodigy Airbending master, that's what arrow symbolizes. I guess this episode Katara confirmed he's officially master level I'm waterbending too, would make sense but she could just be gassing him up lol. He messed around with fire early, like he CAN do it a little bit, but because of the accident with Katara he avoids it and obviously with no teacher he can't improve anyway. And earthbending he finally officially just started here after a struggle to get the hang of it.

Aang has only mastered air at this point. He’s proficient in water, and he’s a novice for earth and fire. Just like the swamp benders that know how to bend the water in the plants around them, there are different sub-styles in earth too such as sand bending.

The spirit owl doesnt want to help any humans in their war because that really is none of their concern. They originally live in the spirit world, so what happens to humans wont happen to spirits.
