Born on April 6, 1931 as Roma Dasgupta, Suchitra Sen was already married, and a mother, when she became an actress. In her career span, Sen has featured in 60 films including Devdas (1955), Harano Sur (1957), Deep Jwele Jaai (1959), Chawa Pawa(1959), Aandhi (1975) and played some remarkable characters which are still cherished. After giving us astounding films she retired from her acting career in 1978. To stick with her obscurity, in 2005 she even refused the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The film fraternity and media would compare her with Greta Garbo, the mysterious Hollywood star of the 1920s and '30s. "Being a movie star, and this applies to all of them, means being looked at from every possible direction. You are never left at peace, you're just fair game."

Kuch pal apne hote hai, aur kuch palo ko Hume apnana pdta hai..

This movie was banned after few days of release cs of its comparison to Indira Gandhi life.after many years it came on video cassettes for ppl to see n we could see this master piece. Wat an irony.

Who knows that the person who is the director as well as the lyricist of this movie has won 1 Academy Award ( 1 Oscar) with A.R.Rahman in 2009 for Slumdog Millionare's song Jai Ho?????? He truely deserves Bharat Ratna. Such a nice Lyricist, Poet. But unfortunately today's generation even dont know that he won Oscar .
