[Intro]
Oh, hey
Yeah-yeah-yeah
No-no-no-no-no-no
[Hook]
It's been too long and I'm lost without you
What am I gonna do?
Said I've been needing you (Said I'm needing you)
Wondering if you're the same and who's been with you
Is your heart still mine, I wanna cry sometimes
I miss you
[Verse 1]
Off to college, yes, you went away
Straight from high school, you up and left me
We were close friends, also lovers
Did everything for one another
Now you're gone and I'm lost without you here now
But I know I gotta live and make it somehow
Come back to me, can you feel me calling?
Hear me calling for you, for you, 'cause it's
[Hook]
It's been too long and I'm lost without you
What am I gonna do?
Said I've been needing you, wanting you
Wondering if you're the same and who's been with you
Is your heart still mine, I wanna cry sometimes (I miss you)
[Verse 2]
Now I'm sitting here, thinking 'bout you
And the days we used to share
It's driving me crazy, I don't know what to do
I'm just wondering if you still care
I don't wanna let you know that it's killing me
I know you got another life you gotta concentrate, baby
Come back to me, can you feel me calling?
Hear me calling for you, for you, 'cause it's
[Hook]
It's been too long and I'm lost without you
What am I gonna do?
Said I been needing you, wanting you
Wondering if you're the same and who's been with you
Is your heart still mine, I wanna cry sometimes
I miss you
It's been too long and I'm lost without you
What am I gonna do?
I've been needing you, wanting you
Wondering if you're the same and who's been with you
Is your heart still mine, I wanna cry sometimes, yeah
I miss you
[Bridge]
I-I-I-I-I-I, I-I-I-I-I-I (I miss you)
I-I-I-I-I, I-I-I-I-I
I can't be no more, no
Since you went away, I don't really feel like talking (No)
No one here to love me (No), baby, do you understand me?
I can't do a thing without you
[Hook]
It's been too long and I'm lost without you
Tell what I'm gonna do?
Said I've been needing you (Yeah), wanting you
Wondering if you're the same and who's been with you
Is your heart still mine, I wanna cry sometimes (Yeah)
I miss you (Baby)
It's been too long and I'm lost without you
What am I gonna do?
Said I've been needing you, wanting you
Wondering if you're the same and who's been with you
Is your heart still mine, I wanna cry sometimes
I miss you
It's been too long and I'm lost without you
What am I gonna do?
Said I've been needing you, wanting you
Wondering if you're the same and who's been with you
Is your heart still mine, I wanna cry sometimes
I miss you

Missy Elliott has said making this video was one of the most difficult things she has ever experienced in her career. From the moment she got on set and saw all the Aaliyah pictures, she broke down into tears. Kim also got emotional several times throughout the shoot that her make up kept getting messed up. Which is why she is wearing sunglasses throughout the video. DMX was so drunk and pilled up that it took him forever to film his opening speech. Aaliyah left a huge impact on so many people that she is missed and remembered to this day. R.I.P. the princess of R & B.

To correct you Static Major from the group Playa was not only under her label but he also wrote a majority of her songs along with Tank And Missy Elliott who also wrote and produced some of her biggest hits it’s sad that she never got to see her last album do as well as it did and I’m sure if she was alive that album would’ve been number one regardless and they would’ve given her the Grammys instead of giving it to Ashanti (oddly enough) because her album was way better than Ashanti’s who couldn’t even sing and hold a note to save her life at that time 🤦🏾‍♂️ Aaliyah was just at the peak of her career with a fresh new style image and sound and so many new elements she was experimenting with is displayed throughout the entire album which remains a classic! Babygirl is sorely missed and I wish Hype Williams greasy dirty ass didn’t take the plane that Lenny Kravitz sent to her and her crew and I wish that she didn’t decide to leave a day early and just been more patient instead of trying to overwork herself as always, I wish that they all wouldve been more wise about the serious safety conditions with all of the extra excessive equipment and bags being too overweight for that lil ass plane the unauthorized crackhead pilot, her being drugged and carried on the plane unconscious according to a witness who saw the accident go down, be serious when they were advised to not get on that plane she even had the gut feeling herself and called Dame Dash and said she was uncomfortable boarding the plane why not extend a hotel room to ensure a safe flight back home or even get on a boat to go back to Florida? why didn’t she just ride with Fatima and the other dancers? why wasn’t her parents uncle brother and Damon Dash Missy Timbaland Static there for this particular video shoot with “Rock The Boat”? The only video shoot that they actually didn’t attend but was at every other video shoot throughout her career, nothing about Aaliyahs murder ever made sense too many things was wrong that day there’s even a skull and bones in the shape of clouds right hand corner as she was walking to the camera in the beginning of the video which is scary Asf and there were clear warnings that went ignored I truly believe she was Setup to be murdered by a number of people in and out of the industry cause she was simply a triple threat and the best at what she did and was so sweet sincere and humble I have yet till this day heard anyone say anything negative about her except for that mess with R Kelly rapists pedophile ass this young beautiful talented woman would still be ruling the charts if better decisions were made her death could’ve been avoided frfr it’s not fair to us to Beyoncé Ashanti and few others went there after her death and shot their videos close to the crash site weird asf if you ask me but their labels made sure they made it back to the states safely I don’t respect her uncle because he plays a major role and was the one who chartered that lil ass plane from begin with I think her uncle Barry was bitter because she was about to leave Blackground records for Atlantic/Virgin Records which is major to have other big labels demanding for you to be on their roster clearly everyone knew she was the one she was our idol our music box and our inspiration and her death is still such a major loss to all of us the industry the fans and in the streets and idk if yaw noticed but there was a down period in music at that time too like artists wasn’t really motivated to make good music her death really affected the entire industry I still have trouble 20+ years later accepting I still cry cause I had just saw Aaliyah when she released her album at FYE in Harlem that July I cut school and everything and I couldn’t get in because they ran out of land yards to give to customers to have the album autographed and to take a picture with her funny thing is she noticed me and asked them to let me in but the store management and the security was being ridiculous and unrealistic i will always cherish the fact that I was acknowledged at the door she was true to her fans it’s just so sad R.I.P. When I was 9 years old in 2004, my father left for the UK to attend a political conference as a one-man delegate for my country (Zambia). As always, I asked him to return with gifts when ge got back. The gifts came and so did he, except it was un a casket. They said foul-play was involved in his death. Just like that, my best friend and hero was gone. 20 years later, I am a 29 year old man taking care of the family , working hard, standing tall, and trying to achieve my aspirations still. I miss you Alex Manda. Rest in peace.

I will NEVER forget when news of her passing came out 🕊️💔🙏🏾 the summer (August) 2021 and I was 21 and had grew up listening to her since 15!!! That night I was over a friends house and ALL the young adults and older teens all came outside in our neighborhood and someone played her song in their car and we all listened and gave her a moment of silence 🙏🏾 and prayed, cried, hugged each other and talked about the good times with her music and she had just left Atlanta not long before her passing and Ryan Cameron told ppl to come out and meet her because it might be the last time she would be in Atlanta ❤️. Will also never forget when Tupac passed I was 16 (Sept 1996) and MANY ppl old and young ALL came together and said a prayer for him and talked about his legacy and impact on our community and will never forget I went to the Bellsouth phone book and saw his mother Afeni’s name in the phone book (she lived in Stone Mountain) and I know many ppl had to call her! Her number changed to private after that night! Certain ppls passing you just never forget where you were or doing and Aaliyah’s is definitely one of those moments 🕊️🙏🏾❤️

She was ahead of her time because simplicity and minimalism wasn’t really a thing back then in the 90s early 2000s (with the exception of Sade). Female R&B singers used to do the most. But Aaliyah brought something different to the table. Her style exuded a quiet confidence, mysterious, sultry, sexy but not gratuitous. She was humble, intelligent, and laidback. You can feel her spirit through her music and the messages in her music were positive and motivating. You rarely if ever heard her cuss, say nasty satanic things in her lyrics. She was a rarity in the music industry. Sometimes I wonder how she would’ve evolved with the times considering how dark, disgusting and ratchet the industry became after her death.
